My husband and I have both been going for years and are very happy with the doctors, staff and selection of eyewear.

The staff here are excellent, and they take good care to explain each test, each step in your diagnosis and helping understand what your prescription means.
During my last visit, I did have to wait a bit for the doctor, and they are pretty packed with regular appointments, so you may have to wait to get scheduled. However, they added me to their cancellation list, so I was able to jump ahead a few weeks!
Nothing but good things to say, I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for an eyecare place.

I have been going to Highlands Eyecare for 3 years. The doctors are great and they spend extra time explaining and answering any questions you may have.

Doctors here are great at explaining the care you receive and reasons why they recommend certain things for you. I love that they listen and consider my history and typical behavior when they make recommendations. For example, my doctor listened about how I don’t wear contacts often. She followed up by asking questions and realized that I leave them in solution too long. She explained that it may lead to risk for infection, and recommending dailies instead. I hadn’t considered this because I thought it was wasteful, but upon reflection it’s a much better choice for me considering how often/​little I wear them.
My only complaint is that I’ve received help from different office staff nearly every time I’ve been there. I’m not sure if they have a high turn over or just a high number of office workers, but I really like building a relationship with a whole office team, not just my doctor.

Office is friendly, open, light and they have a good selection of frames and prescription sunglasses. They are up to date with their technology and exams.
I’ll be returning next year for my exam!

The Dr. is thorough, the staff is friendly, and the place is clean. The glasses selection is good. The problem is that they are so popular/​busy that I had to wait a month for my appointment. That sucks if you really need to see an eye dr. soon.

I’ve been going here for several years and am very satisfied. Dr Hey and Li have both treated me and I’ve been very happy with the result. I’ve gotten four pair of glasses, prescription sunglasses, and contacts. If there is ever an issue, they addressed it immediately without question. I highly recommend this place!

The eye doctor I saw didn’t smile once and was very bland, but the lady who helped me out front was so cheerful and nice! It was easy to schedule an appointment and was in and out in 30 minutes for a quick annual check up.

Got both my glasses and contacts here as an «emergency» appointment as I had lost my previous glasses over the holidays. They said they’d check if they can try to squeeze me in and they did schedule me for the next day! Excellent staff. Very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended. Service and staff are flexible and accommodating. They have modern equipment and have a good selection of Oakley, Banana Republic and Michael Korrs frames for men. Doctor McClain ensures your contacts work perfectly for you. I’ve found my new eye doctor. Perfect for those living in the Highlands /​LOHI or downtown Denver.

Super friendly staff, very comfortable environment. I’ve always had wonderful experiences here. If you are worried about money, get yourself some insurance. It’s very affordable.

I chose this place based on Unilocal reviews and was easily able to set up an appointment over the phone. The staff were helpful and professional in helping me get my insurance sorted out! My appointment was efficiently conducted and Dr. McClain took the time to explain the results of all of my tests. Donna was great about helping me find out whether I could keep my old frames, which I can, thanks to the flexibility of their lab.

I just had my first appointment here last Friday (my first eye exam since 2008…) and I was really happy with my experience. The staff was professional, efficient and friendly. I never once felt pressured to pay for anything extra and they explained everything really well. I also had them fix my crooked and badly adjusted glasses and I’m so much happier with how they look and feel. I highly recommend this place!

This was a really comfortable and relaxing eye examination and selection of frames. I enjoyed the upbeat, casual atmosphere and how helpful all of the staff was. I felt well informed after the exam and like I learned a lot. I would definitely have asked more questions when having the final exam which selected my prescription, but being my first visit back to an eye doctor in a long time, I didn’t realize the importance of this step until after I left. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend them!

I picked this place because it is 2 minutes from my house. I saw Dr Hey for my first ever eye doctor appointment and he was amazing. He is extremely knowledgable and helped explain everything they were doing and why since it was my first visit. Maybe every eye doctor has the same equipment but they seem to have lots of machines with advanced technology and then were able to show me all the scans and pictures they took on the computer in the exam room. Dr. Hey was very kind in explaining all of the results of all of the tests. I didn’t think I had any vision problems before going in and found that I could benefit from slight correction and Dr Hey did not pressure me into purchasing glasses at all. He suggested it was completely up to me and said that if I did purchase them I did not need all the extra bells and whistles.
Donna, the gal who helps you pick out and order your glasses was brilliant. She suggested frames that my insurance would cover and helped picked out ones she thought would fit my face. I chose the first pair she suggested. She told me that she can picture frames on people and this happens to her quite a bit where they pick her first suggestion.
The lady at the front desk who also ran all the tests was also very friendly!
I would recommend anyone go here, the staff is so friendly and helpful!

I’ve seen both Dr. Hey and Dr. Le here, and they’re both extremely conscientious and willing to take time to explain things thoroughly. I’ve made them my primary eye care providers.
They’ve been very flexible with regard to working with my insurance, trying out different prescriptions, and assisting me with a contact lens emergency even though their office was closed.
The office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Easy on the eyes, too.
As a 40-​year old who has started to see «floaters» in my eye, I recommend their 3D scanner. It’s very helpful to see all angles of your eye and have the doctor explain in very custom, clear detail what’s going on with your eye now and what to look out for.

Overall a pretty painless experience. Being new to Denver and in need of some new contacts I turned to Unilocal to find a place close to home and with decent reviews.
I used the online appointment request form to book an appointment, that whole process was easy. Submitted the request and was called within 24 hours to book an appointment.
I downloaded and prefilled out the forms from the website. That made the whole check-​in process pretty quick and easy.
The doctor and staff were easy to talk to and didn’t try to upsell me on anything. The price for my contacts was pretty consistent to what I had paid in the past. Like I said a pretty painless experience.

We recently moved to the Highlands, and were looking for a new eye doctor. We decided to try Highlands Eyecare, and were extremely pleased with the results. I worked with Katherine (front desk), Dr Chris, and Donna the optometrist. They were all personable, provided excellent assistance and advice, and I’m very pleased with the new glasses they ordered for me. And, for what it’s worth, their prices for my fairly pricy glasses turned out to be substantially less than my previous eye doctor. Being self-​employed, we do not have eye care insurance, so a good price is an especially good thing for us!

I went to this business for an exam because my lasik is not quite what it used to be. It was close to my house and I was working from home at the time, so I could work with their hours, but it would be tough if I wasn’t in the neighborhood during the day.
I liked the optometrist enough and believe they were honest about not being able to do much to help. She did write me a prescription for the lowest correction possible to sharpen things up a bit. Their frame selection is very low and pricey. I ended up going somewhere else for frames and lenses.

This place is terrible. It’s run like a used car dealership. They just want your cash. I would never consider going back.
So, I made an appointment for the first available time in the morning, thinking they couldn’t possibly be backed up if I am the first appointment of the day. Flawed logic. Apparently, the optometrist just kinda shows up when she feels like it, regardless of when your appointment is scheduled. I got to sit and wait.
Ahead of time, they had given me this form to measure everything at my desk (how far away was my computer screen, how far away were things I needed to refer to, etc.) and again, thinking it would speed up my appointment, I actually completed this form.
My appointment was pretty average. But, then the doc tells me that based on all these measurements I gave her, I am eligible for some kind of super tri-​ocular lenses that have no visible lines and will help me see all of the things at my desk. Cool. I went on and picked my frames. I was pretty adamant that I was going to pick frames within what my insurance would cover. They had like one pair, and they didn’t even have it in the store, they didn’t even have a picture, just a description of what the color might look like. WTF? I was told I’d be called later that day with the price.
Well, the price should have been zero, as the frames & visit should have been covered by my insurance. Nope! I got a call that I owed them hundreds of dollars because of these super spiffy lenses I was offered. Not once did they bring up the cost in my appointment or frame selection. Maybe they thought if they showed up late and I was rushing to get out of there and get to work, I would just pay whatever. I said hell no to the lenses and got some crap about how the order was already in. Uh, no, cancel that order.
I ordered the basic frames and basic lenses covered by my insurance. When they came in, they called me to come pick them up. Of course, their hours suck, they open after I have already left for work and close before I get home. And, every time I attempted to fit it into my schedule, my anger about the swindling came back and I found other priorities. When I got the call that they were just going to donate my glasses to charity if I didn’t pick them up, I finally went in. That was the last time I would cross their threshold.
If you don’t like to be «sold» or dicked-​around, get your eyes checked elsewhere.
