Camp Bow Wow Denver SE

My primary thoughts about this place: One sour apple ruins the customer experience, the place is dirty, and the dogs are under attended.
First off, the whole place looks and smells dirty and they don’t like to do tours (always a bad sign). Even the front lobby and the bathrooms were hairy and dirty. Ew!
Second, I have never been treated so rudely by someone who works in «customer service» in my life. I work in customer service, so I know it’s not always easy, but our treatment was abysmal! My husband and I took our pet to this place last year and dealt with a large man named Russ at the front desk. He was cold, abrasive, scolded us for having a prong collar on our large dog, and literally rolled his eyes and sighed at us when we asked a simple question.
After our first stay, our dog came home very dirty, with some scratches and marks, and moped around the house for a few days, but we figured that was pretty normal. Every time we looked on the cameras though we could only see one person, or nobody, and sometimes there looked like there was a LOT of dogs. It made me uncomfortable that sometimes you could see 20-​something dogs and only one person standing in a corner. Also, the dogs don’t have anything to play on, or play with, and the staff don’t interact very much with the dogs.
Anyway, we recently wanted to visit another camp Bow Wow and called to see if we could have our records sent over. We were told that Russ doesn’t like to do it so we wouldn’t be able to have any of our information shared between locations? When we asked why, we got no real answer, the manager just doesn’t like to do it. The lady on the phone was very sweet and wanted to help us, but was unable to do anything because of her manager (Russ). We told her that he was very rude to us the last time we met him and she apologized for the experience. It’s sad that the staff had to apologize for the behavior of the manager.
Don’t waste your time at this place! You can get a much nicer experience at another place. We have since been to several daycares where we have been very happy.

We are still new to this doggy campground, but after the first month of daycare and a couple overnight stays, I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate them. They originally got my dog in on a same-​day interview in a pinch when I had nowhere else to go. My puppy loves going there and she pretty much leaves plum worn out from all the fun.
I know she’s having a better time than in her kennel at home because we are hooked on watching the video feeds at work.
There is an older gentleman that I’ve run into a couple times who is the closest thing I’ve come to having a negative experience, but I take him with a grain of salt because the rest of the staff working there is killer. The owner (I’m sorry I can’t remember her name) calls my dog ‘her dog’ which is pretty cute. I can tell they are excited to see her and she get excited to be there.
And as a new dog owner, I love talking to the staff on occasion about ideas on how to work with behaviors. They’ve been very diplomatic on how they approach me when I ask them for help… don’t try to actually train my dog or tell me it has to be done a certain way. They just give me good ideas to help with the process. Thanks CBW!

This is the best place ever to take your pooch! Owner and staff are wonderful and really love the dogs. My Louie is so excited to get there he cries with happiness all the way there. I have also boarded him there and was totally pleased and worry free. A truly wonderful spot for all dogs. Give them a try if you’re looking for a place your dog will love.

I have taken my two little dogs to daycare at Camp Bow Wow Denver SE for three years and so appreciate the care they receive. I am particularly grateful for how attentive they were to my littlest dog’s health issues when she was suffering with some serious bowel issues a year ago. If she had any blood in her stool they would call me immediately, which allowed me to rush her to the vet and finally have her strange food allergies properly diagnosed. Both my dogs are now doing great and they look forward to playing at Camp Bow Wow at least once a week.

I have boarded my dogs here for well over six years and take them there a few times a week to socialize and play. Everyone at this Camp Bow Wow consistently greets my dogs (and myself) with open arms, happy smiles and voice to my dogs, who then wag their tails out of excitement to go inside. I have never had an issue with this Camp Bow Wow, and had experience with other Camp Bow Wow’s in the area, which I then stopped using after finding dear JoAnn (the owner), Russ (the manager), Jessica (JoAnn’s daughter) and Leann. They are all fabulous.
I am disappointed to see some of the other reviews here. Russ is highly educated and works at this business out of the kindness of his heart in a business he loves. Certainly no one runs this type of business for the money. This is a family owned business with JoAnn and Jessica pouring their hearts and souls into the business with the wisdom of Russ who runs it.
We have had nothing but fabulous experiences here. The prices are not higher than others and in fact another dog day care a few blocks down off of Evans charges much higher prices than this one. Every time I am at Camp Bow Wow or looking on their cameras there are multiple people working the dog yards. Perhaps the people with the previous comments don’t realize that the workers can see over the various enclosures all at once, but nonetheless they always have plenty of staff to supervise. I have a large and small dog and both have always done quite well there so they clearly know how to supervise various dog situations.
Finally, my small dog was in a puppy mill for two years before I got her and was very high maintenance and extremely frightened of other people and dogs. They gradually introduced her to other animals and kept her separated with my large dog when she became too nervous to engage with other dogs. I completely credit Russ and JoAnn for bringing her «back», for helping her adjust to people and other animals. She loves going there now and playing with the other dogs and hands down benefitted greatly from their loving care.

My lab Remy has been going to Camp Bow Wow on S. Jasmine St. since I adopted him about eight years ago. He goes periodically for daycare, and he stays there every time I take a trip (2 – 4 times p/​year). It’s the only place he has ever slept when not at home/​with me. I recommend Camp Bow Wow and its staff wholeheartedly. Wow, where to begin??? First, every time I drop him off, they’re so excited to see him — and it’s the only place where Remy will run in and not look back at me because he is SO excited to join his friends and play. Major kudos to the owner Joanne and the manager Russ, who have consistently gone out of their way to help me and Remy over the years. For example, my dog had a puncture wound after playing at a dog park one day, and he had to have stitches. As it turned out, I was out of town — and he was at Camp Bow Wow — the day he had to have his stitches out, so I was not going to be there to take him to the vet for this, and I was really worried about it. Russ called their visiting vet, who came in to do it, but they also made sure Remy wore his t-​shirts each day he still had stitches (so that he would not scratch his wound) and took his meds, etc. Nothing was too much trouble, and all my worries went away after speaking with Russ, who is also so helpful and professional. Consequently, I had complete peace of mind while on my trip and knew I didn’t have to worry about him because he was in such good hands. Another time… long story short: a random woman dumped her sweet rotweiler puppy on me before she left town. I couldn’t keep her, but I wanted to make sure she found a good home, so I asked Joanne about it, and she found a wonderful home for her by asking around at Camp Bow Wow for me. They love dogs and nothing is ever too much trouble. All of the staff is always so friendly and professional when I drop him off, and it’s an incredibly clean, organized facility. As someone, who has been frequenting this business CONSISTENTLY for nearly nine years — this is the best place you can bring your dog. Trust me! They are true professionals, who LOVE dogs, and they will look after your pets as if they were their own. I don’t know what I’d do without Camp Bow Wow on S. Jasmine!

Not to bore you with my personal perceptions, I’ll try to make this as factual as possible. We frequent another Camp Bow Wow in the area and unfortunately, planned poorly on a holiday weekend. This location was the only other Camp Bow Wow with availability so we felt there were no other options.
Prices are not reasonable — other CBW’s in the area offer better multi-​dog discounts and military discounts. 5 days/​5 nights for 2 dogs cost us ~ $ 400. In addition, they require 50% pre-​payment on holiday weekends and if you end up picking up early or dropping off later than originally expected, don’t expect an adjustment.
Experience with staff varies — older dude who took our dogs back when we checked in was very rude, had poor tone and to be honest, made me worried sick during my vacation about the safety of my dogs. The younger chick who has border collies of her own was amazing! You could really tell that she loves dogs and enjoys her dogs. If only she could influence the culture of the location and the other employees would learn from her example …
No linkage to other CBW’s in the area — regardless of our good standing and regular business to another CBW in the area, they insisted on an interview with our pups. We had to go to the extent of having the owner of our regular CBW to call the owner at this location to bypass this absurd requirement. Having staff from our regular CBW call was not sufficient and I assume our regular owner said some strong words to get our pups accepted.
Finally, dog supervision — Because of the rude and cold dude who checked us in, I frequently checked on the pups via the cameras. Out of the 5 days and multiple times checking on them daily, I only saw one person supervising the play areas with the dogs about half of the time. It seemed like they were short staffed daily as the dogs, both large and small were often unsupervised. As I have now seen this with my own eyes, the other reviews of their pups being harmed and the staff having no knowledge of an event occurring make sense. The staff has no recollection of a dispute between dogs because there was no staff present.
Luckily my two dogs came back unharmed. I didn’t have a good feeling leaving them at this place. I think in the future, I’d rather send them to a boarding facility where they only get 15 minutes of play a day. At least the staff would be caring and I know my dogs would be safe.

Very satisfied. Convenient location and hours, good staff, reasonably priced. I especially like the doggie cam. I checked in on my girls frequently throughout the day and it gave me peace of mind to see that they were ok and engaging with the other dogs.
I had them both bathed before I picked them up and they were just beautiful.
Will use again.

I was bummed to see some negative reviews. We have had nothing but good experiences with CBW, our dog has used the boarding facilities and has spent many playful days at day camp over the last year. We have never had a rude encounter or been displeased. It’s clean. The staff have always been helpful and cheerful. They have been instrumental in helping to socialize our puppy, even when he hasn’t always wanted to cooperate. :) Our dog loves going! They have always been patient and caring. We have nothing but great things to say about camp bow wow. Thanks again for our dog’s «home away from home»!!!

Meant to review this sooner but I was hoping if I didn’t I would forget this awful experience ever happened. WILL NOT TAKE MY DOG HERE AGAIN. Had my pup stay for a week during the Christmas holiday and was very dissatisfied. They charged us for an extra day because the receptionist booked the wrong dates when I called to schedule and they refused to refund it upon pickup. I was also asked to get her $ 100 worth of vaccinations before they would accept her (which I’m fine with) but they obviously let other people slide on this policy because MY DOG CAME HOME WITH A HORRIBLE CASE OF KENNEL COUGH which cost me another $ 100 in antibiotics. Not happy, would not recommend taking your baby here. I will be going with an independent dog sitter next time.

We used to come frequently until we were scolded by an employee for our dog still having her hunting e collar still on (which she wears constantly and does not even notice). We then spoke to the owner to express our problem with how the situation was handled, she the preceded to make up a ridiculous story saying our dog was cowering in the corner until they removed the collar she wears on a regular basis. What terrible customer service. Not worth the money and if they have different opinions then you on how to train or make your dog happier be prepared to hear the opinions flow. Its truly sad this happened because just today we were recommending this place to our new neighbors and their adorable pups. They dogged a bullet here. In fact she is running around with said collar right now playing with the neighborhood pups… Hmmmmm… weird

Tried making a reservation after boarding my dog at other Camp Bow Wow’s. Was treated extremely rudely. Would not trust them to care for my pet.

Just moved here and found this place. My dog Rosie loves this place! The staff is very nice and they have very reasonable prices!

We Love Camp Bow Wow! We are always greeted with a smile and all the staff knows my dog’s name. This staff doesn’t need a board with a picture of your dog and their name hanging on the wall like some other doggie day care places in this area… this staff loves dogs and knows each of them.
I am always updated with information upon pick up such as who my dog played with and what type of dog he seems to prefer. The staff is also very helpful if you need any information or support with your dog.
My dog had a very bad experience at a prior doggie daycare so I was really worried about trying another place. I am so glad I did. The staff at Camp Bow Wow understood our prior experience and really made me and my dog feel good about being at their daycare. In addition, they have cameras so you can check on your dog to make sure it is a safe place for you furry friend. I would never recommend leaving your loved animal at any daycare that doesn’t allow you to see the area they play in or provide cameras so you can check in.
Simply the staff here is great, friendly, kind, loves my dog maybe as much as I do and they place is always celan.

Would love to rave about this establishment but sadley I cannot. I have taken two of my dogs to this daycare. The first experience was top notch 100%.That was a few years ago. Lately since my last dog passed away I took my new dog there hoping for the same customer service. That was not the case. There is a man who works in the check in that is so condescending that I have to throw the towel in on this place. I just took my dog there this week and right after I left I checked out another day care center. I have given this gentleman three chances all rude and disrespectful to myself and once with a great friend I tried to refer. The referral of my friend was when I think this particular gentleman started working there. I have gave it several chances since because the rest of the staff is always top notch. Its a bummer that one individual can bring the place down. I would love to give this establishment five stars. If the man who works check in with brown hair in his mid 40’s with a larger build still runs the front desk or acts like it I will not be be there again. Like I said everyone else is great.

I love this location! I’ve had nothing but great experiences here. My dog has boarded here at least five separate occasions, and they’re awesome!
–The staff has always been friendly and helpful.
–The price is awesome (if you board, you don’t pay for the daycare).
–There are always a bunch of sweet, playful dogs there.
–My dog comes back exhausted!
–You can monitor your dog through the camera feed they post online.

My dog has not been there since April of this year, it is now October I called to have her stay for 1 day of dog day care. I had a current copy of vaccinations but called to make sure everything was on the up and up, the woman I spoke to was very rude, she told me that since my dog had not been there since April that she would need to be re-​interviewed, not a problem, dropped the dog off and picked her up that evening, the staff at that time had told me that she didn’t know why my dog had to reinterview that everything was just fine, I was confused is my dog being re-​interviewed or not? Do I pay or not? So the owner called me this morning telling me that his employees was confused and that I owed for the day care, and he wanted a credit card right then, I was at work didn’t have a credit card on me told him I would call later to pay, he got very nasty with me. Not a very nice guy.
Bottom line, rude employees, bad communication skills.
DONT GO!!!

Up until a day ago, I would have given them 4 – 5 star review, but after this past weekend and their response, more importantly, I won’t be going back.
My dog has stayed here many times and usually comes back with a scratch or two (he’s a dog and plays… this is to be expected). He’s also been going to dog parks since he was a puppy, so I’m familiar with his reactions to other dogs; it’s to roll over and Unilocal a bit if he can’t move. I don’t mind any of this because like I said, he’s a dog and that’s what they do.
I picked him up from CBW-​Southeast on Monday after the long weekend. I was looking him over Tuesday night and found a puncture wound on the back of his thigh. When I called to speak with them about it, not once was there an apologetic tone. I understand these things happen and can happen quickly, but it seems strange not a single person noticed any bite/​blood/​limp. If someone saw it happen, a quick glance at my dog would have been appreciated and should have been noted to share with me.
What upsets me most about the phone exchange is that not once did they apologize for letting it happen on their watch or just say they’re sorry it happened in general. I understand they have policies that prohibit them from being able to do much about it, but when someone takes the time to report something like that I would have hoped for a more customer-​driven service model, considering the amount of money I’ve paid them over the past year.
Needless to say, because of their attitude toward it, I won’t go back and wouldn’t recommend them.

Upon moving to Denver I was looking for a great daycare facility for my dog to burn off some energy while I am at work. Camp Bow Wow requires an interview and provides their first day of daycare free, so we decided to give them a shot. The facility is great and the woman at the front desk when I dropped him off was super friendly. However, upon picking him up I inquired how he did, who he played with/​what was his favorite thing and the guy at the front desk responded «I’m not really sure, they usually just sit back and watch the first day.» My dog has been to dog parks and daycare since he was a puppy, so this is completely unbelievable and uncharacteristic of my dog’s personality. I realized once we got home that they also forgot to return my copy of the immunization records. For those reasons, we will probably not be back to Camp Bow Wow.
