After College and a 10 year journey in corporate America, Alicia Bryant-​Mayes started her career in the Beauty industry in 1996. Her first license was her manicuring license. Within one year of obtaining her license, she was offered an Education Ambassador position with the #1 Nail Manufacturer in the world and remains one of the top educators for CND. Alicia has been honored with numerous awards, citations and media print from Educator of the Month, Top 10 Educators, Rocky Mountain News Style and more.

Alicia returned to school in order to obtain her esthetics license. Alicia has completed her Post-​Graduate Certification with Dermalogica. There are not many who hold the Post-​Graduate Certification, but Alicia is continuing her esthetics education and is currently pursueing her Honors certification which even fewer hold.

Alicia’s last return to school was to complete her Hair Stylist license.

So it’s taken me a minute to write this review because I’ve been misguided before visiting other salons. I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that I have found a rare gem within this shop! I love the ambience of the place and the friendly greetings and conversations it is truly a great time. Above all else I have the best hairdresser hands down! Nikita is awesome and a delight to come in contact with. You have to give this place a shot I promise you will not be disappointed!

Too bad one star is mandatory. I’ve gone to this salon multiple times and yes, I’ve for the most part been happy with my end result and Nikita is truly wonderful with a vibrant personality, but the overall experience has been less than satisfactory.
If you go to Stephanie, expect no sense of urgency and to be in the chair for 3 hours… minimum. I’ve gone to her twice due to me being at a loss with what I should do to my hair and both times she stopped to take personal calls, made me wait while she continued on with her non-​work related conversation or has been on her computer… while I’m in the chair patiently waiting. I’ve also waited for her to sweep… and she didn’t prepare for our appointment until my arrival and once her conversation was done.
My experience has also consisted of multiple encounters where I’ve been badly burned with heat tools in the chair, or had chemicals dropped on my face and near my eyes.
Be aware that they will nickel and dime you at any chance. Although the stylist was aware that she was a little off that day (spilling chemicals all over me) she had the audacity to apply an extra charge at the very end of our visit and not mention it until I’m waiting for her, yet again with my checkbook. At that point I had been there for three hours so I paid it and left, but I will never go back.

I have to write this review from the parking lot I’m that happy. My hair is that flawless! It took me months to find a natural dread lock stylist who knows how to palm roll! I almost gave up after contacting 19 salons with no luck. The 20th call I found Nikita at this cute salon. She laid my hair and you even fill out a hair profile. Excellent service! I’m beyond happy

This is the salon you’ve been looking for! Excellent service, knowledgeable staff, clean environment and a variety of great products make this place my weekly go to. The staff here is concerned about hair care in addition to great styles. I’ve waited a couple of weeks before writing this review and I must say Nikita has done an outstanding job with my natural curls. I’ve tried several salons since I moved to Denver and I’m so glad someone recommended this place. If you’re still looking for a great salon, give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

After looking so long for a good African American hair salon in the Denver area, I stumbled upon this one! The stylists know everything their is to know about hair, and what treatments are best for your own specific type of hair. Something that believe it or not is not always common in hair salons. They’re friendly, the salon is super clean and booking hair appointments is made easy with their website. All around great environment and top of the line service– if you go make sure to ask for Nikita, she’s amazing! She always knows about the latest hair products and uses them on her clients! She will nourish your hair back to health, I’ve been going to her religiously for 4 months now and my hair has never been more healthy! Great salon!

This review is overdue, I went to Body and Soul Salon back in September 2015 and had a great experience. Nikita was my stylist and was awesome! I went in to relax my natural hair and it turned out great. Just made another appointment with Nikita. I have been looking for a great salon/​stylist in Denver for 5 years and have found it. I love Body and Soul Salon. It’s the only salon I’ve been to that takes the time to do a hair profile. When I came into Body and Soul salon my hair had suffered severe breakage and was not growing. Alicia has brought my hair back to life and it’s one of the best salons if you have african american hair!

I have been getting manicures/​pedicures at Body and Soul for twelve years. Alicia, the spa owner, is an intelligent business owner who is well versed in the latest hair, skin, and nail techniques. I enjoy the warm, friendly atmosphere. The pedicure are fabulous.

This place is amazing. After searching for months to find a place that does AFRICAN AMERICAN HAIR in Denver, I found it on Unilocal out of pure luck. Yes, this salon does BLACK HAIR!
I had Nikita as my stylist, and she went to work. She gave me a form to fill out and it had questions about my hair history. I was grateful that she wanted to know that I was doing to manage my hair. With her having the knowledge of what products I use and my hair habits, we’re able to keep track of my hair growth. She went onto measuring my hair, testing the porosity, and even noted my head shape, to give me a style that would best fit my face.
I was instantly comfortable. Nikita is really personable and conversation was easy with her. It was easy with the entire salon. She also gave me a lot of great tips to manage my hair to keep it looking great (an it still does). My hair was great. It was something I really needed and she made it happen for me.
I give this place 5 stars. The atmosphere, stylists, location, and talent all speaks for itself. I can honestly say that everyone who left before me, left looking great.

Just came from Body & Soul, and I am on cloud nine!!! Stephanie did my hair this afternoon, and I couldn’t have imagined a better result.
I was going for my «Big Chop» in order to grow my hair out naturally and get rid of the over-​processed, relaxed hair. I was super nervous, but it was the right time in my life.
I saw the other stellar reviews for the salon on Unilocal!,and decided to give B & S a shot. I made an appointment the night before (last night) on their website, which was very easy. I found a few photo examples of what I wanted (Rhianna Mohawk with Janelle Monae volume), and brought them to my appointment. Stephanie asked ALL the right questions, and made sure we were on the same page before she proceeded. I wanted to keep some length on the top for styling versatility. The result… perfection!
Their website offers 50% off of your first service if you join the mailing list, which Alicia (the owner) graciously honored. For the new ‘do I received, however, I would’ve gladly paid the reasonable full price.
I also want to mention what a pleasure it was chatting with Stephanie and Alicia! They are SO sweet, and make you feel right at home. I will definitely be returning :-)

So late on this review but I got my hair done by Alicia last month and my hair looks great and feels great. She really cares about your hair. She asked me what was my hair plan and told me products to get my hair healthy and the way I want it. The atmosphere in this salon is great and I will be returning to Alicia.

I love the atmosphere and attitude at Body & Soul. However, I have had three bad experiences here.
There seem to be some kinks with the online scheduling system. When I arrived at my last two appointments, the stylist was unaware that I had an appointment scheduled and had to be reached at home. About 30 – 45 minutes later, she arrived, and we were ready to roll. She also had no idea they were offering a Unilocal Deal.
The hair relaxer was left on too long and I left with scabs after two different appointments. Unfortunately, the second incident happened after I told my stylist all about my reaction after the previous appointment. But… about 8 weeks before my wedding. I decided not to take any more risks.
I exchanged emails with the owner about these incidents several months later and she was very apologetic but I never felt that they made it right.
6 months later, I decided to give Body & Soul one more try. I wanted Michelle Obama bangs. And I wanted them now. My stylist had never heard of this style (it was February or March?)… When I got home I realized my bangs had been cut crooked. Should I have noticed this before I left? At this point, I decided to cut my losses. Sorry.

Body & Soul is a great value for the money. Try the Pure & Simple for $ 25. It is a full-​body dry exfoliation followed by an application of pure coconut oil. Absolutely wonderful.

I cannot recommend Body & Soul enough. Alicia is the most professional, considerate, and multi-​talented stylist I have ever had. She took care of me, my mom, and my sister in the weeks, days, and hours before my wedding, and from the very beginning made us feel like we were in calm and capable hands.
I called the salon back in May in anticipation of my June wedding. I was deciding between Body & Soul and another salon my mom’s friend had recommended, and when I talked to Alicia I was so impressed with how «on it» she was that I knew I was going to be cancelling the other salon appointment. She had clearly done wedding hair and makeup before, and helped me figure out how to time the trial appointments and the day-​of preparations to minimize the stress and maximize the glam. When I compare that to how «over it» the folks at the other salon sounded, it made me appreciate Alicia even more.
When I say she did everything, I mean it: she did my mom’s hair and makeup, my sister’s hair and makeup, and made me look and feel like a million natural bucks. She listened to everything I said I did and did not want (I did want to look like myself, I did not want helmet hair or a heavily made-​up face), and delivered in spades. (I normally wear my hair natural, by the way, and she was able to flatiron it to bouncy perfection but could have done a number of natural styles too.)
On top of it all, she is just a really lovely woman. I know some people don’t mind salons where everyone looks and acts like they cannot and will not be bothered, but nothing annoys me more. I would much rather spend money at a place where people can manage a smile, kind words, and a cool glass of water on a hot summer day.

I got my hair done here about three weeks ago (I’m late, I know). Just wanted to write a review for Stephanie who straightened my hair like nooo other. So, my hair basically stayed straight for almost 3 weeks until I washed it yesterday. I hate dirty hair.
Anyway, both Stephanie (?) and the owner were really nice people, and they made a point to provide great customer service. When I first arrived, I was greeted and asked if I wanted a donut (which I did cause I was starving) and a latte (which I needed because I was exhausted). Haha. Anyway, they are just really nice people overall and I really liked being offered food. I love food.
Stephanie really took her time to treat my hair and make sure it was what I wanted, and her trim was pretty awesome. I’ve been places where you tell them you want a trim, and they cut 5 inches off. No. So, I was a little hesitant before coming, but she trimmed off a good amount. Not too much so that I had hair left, but enough to even out my hair and not make me look crazy.
Everything was great, I think the only thing I was iffy about was how much product/​straightening oil she put in my hair while flat ironing it. Other than that, everything was puurrfect. OH! and it was a great price! $ 35 for a wash/​flat iron, only $ 15 for a trim. can’t beat that.
