We offer a safe place for people to come and be who they are. With daily happy hours, we are your local neighborhood Cheers in the happening heart of Capitol Hill.
History
Established in 2012.
Local lesbian entrepreneur Jody Bouffard has owned various lesbian-centric businesses in Denver from HER Bar to tHERe Coffee Bar and Lounge. Her current venture, Blush & Blu, is a coffee shop and bar that has taken the old location of tHERe Coffee Bar and Lounge, 1526 E. Colfax Ave., but expanded another 2,000 square feet in January of this year, adding the ‘Blu’ to the established business ‘Blush,’ creating the space of Blush & Blu.
With her business partner Holly Hatch, Jody has taken the neighborhood bar and lesbian scene in Denver to the next level.
Voodoo Doughnuts from Portland OR, and featured multiple times on the Food Network, has started construction next door to our humble shop. Come check us out before the madness begins this fall!
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
Jody Bouffard: owner
«I’ve been working in the bar scene my entire adult life, from helping run them to owning and operating four. Catering to women is a part of my DNA. And if I didn’t do it, who would?
I helped open and run my first bar in 2000: The Wave, which catered to gays and lesbians.
Since then I’ve opened tHERe coffee bar and lounge, HER Bar and my latest venture: Blush & Blu. As one of the only long-term lesbian bar owners in Denver, I know how difficult it can be to create synchronization for such a diverse community.
As a bar owner, I’ve been invited into peoples’ lives and get to share in the ebb and flow of a universal tie.»
Holly Hatch: co-owner/General Manager
«As the previous editor-in-chief at Out Front, I know the importance of creating community. My partner Jody and I have created a business we hope continues to bridge the community from allies to folks who don’t have a safe place to feel like they can be themselves. Join us in creating a revolution.»
