Big O Tires

I have been going to this shop for the last 8 or 9 years. Over that time I have purchased 2 sets of Michelin tires from them, (including a set today), have had them do alignments, replace shocks and struts, change the oil, do a 120K service, etc. on a 2006 4 Runner. I have always been satisfied. They don’t over sell their products or service. I still take my car to a Toyota mechanic if the Check Engine light comes on or there is something quirky, but feel comfortable having this shop do routine maintenance. Regarding tires, I research
, Consumer Reports, etc. and I shop around at Goodyear, Sears, Costco, Sam’s Club, Tires Plus and several other tire and auto stores. I probably do way too much research and then always come back to this BigO store.

Bought tires from them about 2 years ago with a $ 20 warranty that I had not put much thought into. Got an unrepairable flat last night. Called them up, they told me I was under warranty and to come in. I went in when they opened at 7am, and after trying to convince me to purchase 4 new tires (somewhat deservedly since my tires have been well-​used), they got me out of there in about 30 minutes with a new tire and labor for $ 40. They were friendly, informative and total pros throughout. Not sure how their tire prices compare, but in terms of service and professionalism, I definitely recommend.

Thank you mark and the rest of the Colfax team. I needed snow tires quickly and was given a fast education on the locking lug nuts my used car had installed (without a key), along with mismatched set of all weather tires. Yikes. MArk honored a discount I fiound for the tires and accommodated a rush job. Appreciate the care and time educating me about the prior mess on the car and the new and improved features of the new fires.

I got a flat tire and brought it to Big O. Even though my tow truck driver was an hour late, they were still able to fix it the same night. Everyone I spoke to was polite and had good humor. I always know I’m in good hands with this company, but this location really went above and beyond to help me even in their busy holiday season. I would have given them 6 stars if I could.

I was a customer of this Big O location for two years before I had enough. I purchased tires from them, had them rotated, had oil changes done, and other routine maintenance. I also brought my girlfriends car there for new tires. Throughout that time I noticed a small but disturbing pattern that eventually blew up in my face and ultimately ruined my respect for this Big O and I have vowed never to return. I brought my car in and had the tires rotated, everything went smoothly, until I noticed after driving around for a month that the tech had neglected to finish putting all of the locking nuts on the car, installing one tire with only 4(!) of the 5 lugs. Additionally, they lost my lug nut lock KEY, which would have left me stranded, had I suffered a flat. They replaced the OEM Toyota locking lug set at no cost with an apology. That was positive, minus the whole «we lost an essential piece to your car and allowed you to drive away without telling you».
Next, I had a torn axle boot, common on 4Runners, so I brought it in for repair. They told me that I needed to replace the whole right axle assembly for $ 225. They also told me my brakes were very low in the back and should be replaced. I agreed to the axle work but declined the brakes as something didn’t feel right considering the age and mileage. Overall I was comforted by their 12 month repair warranty. No other issues were reported about axle leaks.
Come 6 months later I decided to replace the brakes with the help of a friend. I personally inspected the brake pads to find they were in good shape, revealing their suggested additional brake diagnosis as false and a clear sign of fraud.
Next, I noticed a leak on my axle (the one they had replaced). Thinking that this is a clear warranty axle issue, I brought it to them only to be told that it was the seal between the axle and the transmission and that since they didn’t put in a new one during the axle replacement it wouldn’t be covered.
Mind you, it didn’t leak prior to them getting their hands on it. Thus their stated reasoning for not originally replacing it. Despite the fact that Toyota does frequently replace this seal while performing this repair. Then I was told it is not under warranty, despite the fact that it was clearly their faulty installation that caused this seal to now leak. And the work to replace this seal would cost $ 400. Nearly double the original work cost. For a part that costs $ 20. Upon my complaints, Ken got VERY defensive and grudgingly agreed to speak with his owner. Their offer was to do the work for $ 200 instead.
I am not a sucker and there a lot of other reputable service centers in our fine city. So no, I will not be paying you to do work that should have been done already or under warranty. I also contacted Big O national consumer relations. The owner of the business did not reach out to me, despite the fact that he is supposed to once the complaint is made. The relations rep has been less than helpful, stating that since «this a franchise location and the owner of the location has final say in the matter.» He never called or emailed. Dead silence.
Thanks for the lack of support Big O. I will be shopping for tires and vehicle service elsewhere. I’d rather PAY a reputable, trustworthy shop to rotate my tires.

Very helpful and friendly. Needed a new tire and they only charged me cost. Will be returning for any maintenance I may need in the future

Had an outstanding experience with Ken and his friendly and capable team. I’m a first time customer of this Big O shop and was referred by a close and trusted friend. I called a few days ago knowing full well that the shop would be incredibly busy with the impending blizzard. It was… Ken took the time to be very consultative about the tires and service we needed, but wasn’t ‘salesy’ or pushy in his approach. We had 2 sets of new tires on our vehicles very quickly (less than time quoted) and are very happy customers. I’ll report back as/​when we have any issues — that’s always the real test. After seeing how they handled some (unreasonable) customers this morning, I have full confidence we’ll be customers for life.

Open on a Sunday, hence the one star. Would have been better off with a flat for an extra day.
I bought a vintage Jeep that came with factory whitewalls, and Big O miraculously had them — quoted at $ 89/​tire. When I got there they pulled my car right in and got I work… Putting on the wrong tires (not the whitewalls j specified b the phone and in person). I only noticed when I got bored in the waiting room and wandered out to the service bay, after they were mounted. Strike one.
So they had to mount and balance 4 new tires, while I waited. Meanwhile, I got to enjoy two employees engaged in a verbal altercation about taking walk in customers less than an hour before closing. Strike two.
Then, after they were «done» with my car a tech rolls my full size spare out to me and expects me to put it back under the car. Sorry, but while I’m fully capable of doing that myself it’s not what I paid you $ 400+ for… Had to remind them of that. Strike three.
I go to pay and there are multiple charges that weren’t disclosed (tire disposal, mounting, balancing, etc.) that at more reputable placed (see, e.g. Costco) are included in the advertised rate. Ended up paying $ 430 for 4 tires, hardly a bargain. Strike four.
Lastly, adding insult to injury, the tires have some blue-​tinted residue that I assumed was a cleaning agent or something and which would wash off. Wrong. The tires themselves don’t look great, even brand new. Strike five.
Highly doubts this is the kind of operation that will check/​respond to a Unilocal review. Yep, Big O, that’s a dare. Your move.

Customer service was amazing! Mark went above and beyond to make sure my experience went smoothly. Being a young female I always expect to be taken advantage of when it comes to any car repairs, but this place made me feel comfortable and he made sure to explain everything I needed to know.

Super friendly staff who tried hard to give me an accurate time frame for the work done on my car. They even got it dead right!

This store always goes above and beyond what I expected from an auto shop. I used to live in aurora quite a ways a way from here and I ended up in a circumstance where I brought my car into the shop for the first time. This was about three years ago. Ever since that first experience, I have been coming every single time I need to work on my car no matter how big or small. They are one of the few businesses I know that continuously gives a fair price for parts and labor and these incredibly low prices are always given with a genuine smile. Thank you guys for making my hectic life just that much less stressful !

Used them just for an oil change, kind of expensive for what I’m use to paying and look about an hour to complete. Way too long for just an oil change.
Management was nice though, a very rude woman came in and started cussing in the store, making a scene. Management diffused the situation with class.

I called to make an appointment to bring my car in for an oil change. I was told they don’t make appointments for oil changes; that I would just have to bring my car in. So then I asked what time they closed, because I wanted to bring my car in for an oil change, and I was told six. I left work early, and sped across town to make it there before six. After waiting in line for almost 10 minutes a mechanic comes out and told me that he doesn’t take oil changes after 4:30. I explained that I called and no one mentioned 4:30, but he refused to serve me even though they were open.
Terrible customer service, I will never go back.

This place is awesome! I’m a concierge and end up taking cars all over Denver, but I always recommend Big O on Colfax. They are quick, professional, and fair priced. Also when I’ve had other places screw my other clients over on appointments I also take them to Big O instead and they work me right in and work with the client even if they aren’t a former customer. The staff is wonderful too.

This place is awesome! The staff is super friendly. When I called about replacing the tire for my car he knew exactly what I needed and didn’t try and tell me I needed to replace all four tires (like most places).
They were super fast and had a really relaxed clean waiting room with water, coffee, TV and magazines. I even got a text message from them the next day thanking me for using them.
The price was right and so was the customer service.
I will definitely recommend to a friend.

I’ve been going here for five or ten years without a problem. It’s across the street, that’s why. There are a lot of pissed off customers posting at length here, but I’ve been lucky. The staff is friendly and efficient, even in busy times, although they are not too good about calling you when your vehicle is ready to go. The prices seem pretty normal.
I think Discount Tires has a better tire replacement policy, and would go there if they weren’t so far away, but this place is fine.

Please never go here or Big O in general. First let me start off saying my family and I have been purchasing Big O Tires and maintenance services for decades. I am in my early 20’s and will therefore purchase many more tires in my years, but I will NEVER buy from Big O again. It started a few years back when I first needed new tires. The salesperson tried to convince me that I needed 4 new tires. I thought I was getting one pulled over on me, so I had my dad call in. The salesperson broke down and told him that I really only needed 2 new tires and could get by with only replacing 1; red flag number one. We ended up replacing all 4 tires the next year and bought the warranty that SUPPOSEDLY covers flat-​tire replacements.
Fast forward to yesterday: I got a flat tire and didn’t notice it until after I parked my car from driving home from work. My boyfriend brought my car in to get the tire replaced and they proceeded to tell him that I had demonstrated «neglect» by driving on the flat tire for too long, which voided the warranty. 1. The tire was not all the way flat when I noticed the problem. 2. Why on Earth would I drive on a tire ON PURPOSE if I knew it was flat. 3. Why did I buy a warranty in the first place? The mechanic then offered my boyfriend the tire at cost for replacement and a service fee ($ 109) when it should have been FREE! He tried to act like he was doing him a solid by offering this. Today I called into the store and asked to speak to a manager. The manager basically listened to me and explained why I was wrong about every concern I had. I feel the whole situation was an awful customer service experience. I hope that nickel and diming me over $ 100 is worth the loss of my business, and my family and friends’ business, from here forward. I will be taking my car into my dealership to ensure they rotated my tires correctly (I got them rotated 5 days before the flat tire and they rotated them again) and didn’t mess anything else up.
One more thing: I took my tires into Big O one week ago and got them rotated. I find it more than a little suspect that less than a week later I have a flat tire from «a sliver of metal» that they couldn’t show my boyfriend. Just saying…

This has got to be the WORST customer service ever! The staff are rude and do t seem to care that you are spending hard earned dollars there. I ordered a set of tires in advance– they called me to say they were in. I scheduled a time to visit. Turns out it is a snow day so they are super busy. Was told it’s a 3 hour wait. Sigh. I can deal with that… UNTIL they start serving every man and his dog BEFORE me! «Oh, you have a flat? Let us fix that for you». «So you want a rotation? Sure, won’t be long»
WTF??? I am spending a HUGE amount of $$$ compared to others just walking in and they don’t seem to care.
I have been here before and had reasonably good experience, but this just sucked the last chance I was going to give them. Never again.

These guys are the only place open on a Sunday. So they got one extra star for that.
However, the employees here are rude and don’t do good work. Had a flat needing to be patched, first off they quote $ 25. Other places do that for free. When I had them draw up a quote for four new tires they were about $ 100 more than their competitor that also does free patches. $ 200 more expensive once you include mail in rebates.
The dude at the counter was even pissier when I mentioned the Free Flat Repair on their promotion section of the website. Though he did honor it he still charged me for the TPMS, which other competitors provide free.
Mostly I’m writing this review because two days after my patch, the same tire was flat again. Took it to their decent competitor and they said the TPMS and valve stem both were leaking due to a shoddy install job.
So this place does shitty work in order for you to get stuck coming back to buy their overpriced tires, and enjoy their oh-​so-​pleasant attitudes.
Save yourself from feeling like a worthless customer, try their discount competitors.

I’ve seen the some staff come and go over the past 5 years but I’ve never had a terrible experience here. For a few years I had them swap my summer and snow tires (twice a year) each year. They were quick and did a proficient job.
They were able to fix some of the issues that plagued my girlfriend’s truck after walmart’s tire center botched some work.
These days I bring tires that need to be patched or mounted over to them and I do the swaps myself in my garage to save the $ 50. The shop manager has always been professional and courteous with getting work done; both planned and unplanned.
I have no issues recommending them to people who don’t want to muck with their tires.
