Balanced Health Cleansing Spa

Weirdest and worst experience I have ever had at a business!!! I NEVER leave bad reviews but this was so bad I had to. It was dirty… it felt like an old cat lady’s house and when I sat down she became really pushy trying to up-​sell me and when I said I was on a budget and just wanted the cleanse, she told me that I should come back when I had more money to spend. I said I would still like to do the cleanse and she said I couldn’t because she smelled chemicals on me and it was bothering her nose. I left and called Groupon. Thankfully I got a refund and they said that will look into not allowing her to run Groupons anymore!

I’d like to preface this review with the fact that it takes a REALLY bad experience for me to write a negative review for any business, as I don’t go out of my way to jeopardize someone’s livelihood. With that being said, my experience at Balanced Health Cleansing «Spa» was both horrible and terrifying.
First, it was nearly impossible to get a hold of the owner, Ria, to even make an appointment and she only communicated via text. Second, she had to reschedule my appointment due to snowy weather and ended up double booking someone else on my second appointment date. These were red flags I should have paid attention to prior to my actual cleansing experience, but I had already purchased my Groupon and didn’t want to waste the $ 50.
The owner, Ria, HEAVILY pushed purchasing the ionic foot bath that I wasn’t interested in. She became extremely pushy, rude and judgmental and would not easily accept my «no thanks» to the additional service. She basically said the colonic hydration wouldn’t be as successful without the foot bath. Her demeanor was anything but comforting and understanding, especially towards someone who was totally new to colonic hydration.
I also want to mention that the «spa» itself was not only an unpleasant surprise, but bordered on being unsanitary. There were soap dispensers in the bathrooms, but there was no soap; only water in them. There were dirty towels and the toilets and sinks looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in years. As one other reviewer pointed out, the «spa» looked like some old hippie’s house.
Probably the most alarming/​terrifying thing about my experience was the fact that the instruments were not disposable, meaning they have been used God knows how many times on other people in the past. I’m not even confident the instruments are cleaned properly after each use. Additionally, the disposal tube literally just ran from the setup in the room into the toilet in the connecting bathroom. The tube was taped to the bowl underneath the seat. This second bathroom was also very dirty and provided no soap.
During the session, Ria continued to try to up-​sell me on multiple sessions and Gluten-​free food from the bakery she works with.
All in all, this was a horrifying experience. If you already purchased a Groupon, take my advice and consider the $$ a loss. You’re better off not going at all. I’m seriously concerned that I may have to deal with some kind of infection from this place.

I called almost 5 times to schedule an appointment for a service I ALREADY paid for with no response to any voicemail. unprofessional I wouldn’t trust an medical treatments if they aren’t even able to return voicemails to schedule appointments.

I have been seeing Ria at Balanced Health Cleansing Spa for some time. All through my life I have struggled with digestive issues and later weight problems. I stumbled onto Ria’s doorstep on my path to wellness and have never looked back since. With some serious life changes, utilizing some of her modalities, and taking her advice I have been able to overcome most of my digestive issues and have gotten my weight under control. I am now a vibrant healthy ACTIVE individual. I see Ria a couple of times a year now to maintain my digestive issues and catch up on the latest and greatest modalities she is into now. I have never felt pressured to buy anything that I wasn’t interested in and have always felt comfortable saying no where I wasn’t interested. I’m a little surprised at the other reviewers comments as this was not my experience at all. In fact, Ria was very understanding of my financial limitations but helped me get to a healthy state with what I could do. It was my choice and my research that kept me on that path an not any kind of pressure from her.
I can understand the fear expressed in the other reviewer’s comments if you are scared of the colonics themselves — which we all are. Her implements ARE old school but they are sanitary and they work! The blankets/​towels are clean and it has a more homelike feel than a commercial-​hook-​you-​up-​to-​a-​machine feel in the more modern places. If you are considering colonics and are looking to make some long term health changes Ria is the one to see. She really knows her stuff!
My advice for anyone considering doing this, for whatever reason… you should know that if you are suffering from any kind of digestive ailments that this is a long term approach for most. That being said, it is well worth the investment!

I have been to Ria a few times all ready for treatments and she has been absolutely pleasant. I came across Ria’s center via a Groupon offer. Being a person who travels often for work, I seek out alternative methods to keep balanced. In the past I have had different types of colonics in general across the country: gravity, open and closed. Ria is informative and educates on the various techniques and methods that she uses at her center. I took her explanations as educational and informative, not pushy as stated as above. She also answered all of the questions that I had and even gave me some of her gluten-​free treats to take with me at no extra cost. The reviews above contradict my experience.
Also, regarding the tools she uses or method style: all it takes is asking questions, as many as needed, which she will gladly answer. :)
All in all, I have kept going to Ria because I feel great after, she is respectful, informative and has had a friendly demeanor.

This was a worst and scariest service experience I have ever had. The owner Ria is incredibly pushy and condescending. When I told her I couldn’t afford to purchase additional services, she looking down at me (literally, I was in a chair and she was standing) and remarked
«people come in all the time and say ‘oh I can’t afford more sessions’ and I ask them ‘why did you even bother come in at all if you aren’t serious about making a commitment to living a healthier life?’»
Jeez! So the only way to living a healthier life is doling out mega $$ to get cleansed every other week? Really?
The conversation just became more and more awkward after that, to the point that I wanted to leave and would have had I not already paid for the service via groupon. Also, like the reviewer below said, this place is not clean or well put together. The bathroom didn’t have Soap! I mean, c’mon!!! Seriously?
Gets one star because Unilocal has no lower option and because her daughter (the one who actually does the unhappy job of the colon cleanse) was nice and pleasant.

This place was so scary. Like visiting a hippies house. I have since had a normal colonic and this place is the complete opposite. They are unsanitary and use equipment and procedures that are out of date and completely unsanitary. I am still getting chills thinking about this place. For your butt’s sake, go somewhere else. They have old blankets, quilts and towels. They stick a scope up you that is not disposable… meaning it’s been in other people. Lots of times. Ria is very pushy and was not understanding of my financial situation and not being able to upsell me really seemed to make her angry. I am done with this review, because I think I am going to get nightmares just remembering my visit.
