Axis at Nine Mile Station

No negative star option. The complex is extremely dirty. Bed bugs in numerous units, police are constantly there, illegal entry requests by the maintenance crew, and the elevator is broken 95% of the time. If you bring up anything negative with the leasing team, they will threaten you with eviction. The worst apartment complex I have ever seen, hands down, and I’m from New York.

This place is disgusting! Roaches everywhere, the crappy people you live with. Last week dorm one broke multiple car windows today my car was keyed in the garage! If you want to feel comfortable where you live and stay healthy this isn’t your new home

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. negative points for the staff. where does all the money we invested go? They don’t renovate everything is fucking old. they always make me wait for hours when I have a package… the desk staff is RUDE some of the maintenance Staff is friendly but apart from that 0 fucking stars. don’t waste your time and money here

Its good but cameras must b kept in corridors for security. I lost a couple of important things

This place is filled with bed bugs after numerous complaints, I figured out management is totally incompetent, fit for nothing. They have no pest control,
I have lodged a service request 3 months ago saying tiles in my bathroom are falling off, there is now work done yet. After 3 months of them being totally useless now they say I am not on the lease so they cannot answer me.
Are you serious you want to cover your incompetency by saying I am not on the lease. Specially the lady in the front desk keeps telling you we are backed up please be patient but they never even cared about the inconvenience caused by them to me.
I opened a complaint saying my kitchen sinks are clogged the service man shows up after three days. My whole apartment was stinking like hell by then. Management are you serious you expect me to live in that stinking smell for three days.
If I keep talking about this apartments this review place is not enough.
Moving into here is the biggest mistake of my life

Axis management shame on you. No reviews change you i guess.
Right on time in sticking ridiculous move out notices, for your own mistakes.
Why don’t you take serious note of many complains that people make.
And the rude grumpy land management lady who sits inside bossing on everyone.
People you should really consider not moving in, its a trap.

We love this place! There is always problem people in a community this large. Bed bugs? Not in my apartment. We love this place! Very quiet. Dog friendly and the management staff seem to really be on the ball. Great apartment, great view, GREAT PRICE! Planning to stay a while. Glad I didn’t listen to all the negativity!

I moved to Axis May of this year (2013). When I first moved in to my unit, I was unhappy to see that the carpet seemed unclean, there was a lot of various damage, and the appliances were ancient compared to the apartment they showed me. To top things off, I couldn’t move in because my sliding doors had no locks and I wasn’t about to leave my valuables in there unattained.
When I first moved in, they were going through a change in management and hiring on more staff. When I brought about the issue I had with the locks, they were quick to have them fixed and even reimbursed me for the first few days of rent since I couldn’t move anything worth stealing in.
The maintenance fixed much of the aesthetic damages left behind from the previous owner and even replaced my dishwashing machine with a brand new one due to a leak. They were very kind and apologetic.
The front desk staff at Axis is very friendly and courteous. Every time I had an issue they have been sympathetic and fast to resolve things. When I didn’t have an interior key for my bathroom, the guy and the front desk let me keep his mini flat head.
The amenities at Axis are nice. Though the gym lacks free weights, there is a lot of cardio equipment and the treadmills have built in TV’s. They also have raquet ball, a pool, tennis, and basketball courts.
The lower level of the main building has a study and the main hall also has seating so that you can use Axis’s wifi network.
Each level has a washer and dryer, so it’s not such a huge hassle doing laundry.
Axis allows you to pay rent and utilities online which is convenient.
Some of the tenants are loud, but I have yet to be woken up in the middle of the night with he windows closed. The apartments seem to have a layer of concrete between them because I never seem to hear footsteps or much else in my bedroom.
The people living here are diverse. There is a huge range in ages and size of families.
The apartment is a block away from the 9 Mile light rail station.
Some of the people that come through the area are a lit​tle​.er​.um. «rough around the edges». but the neighborhood seems safe and the complex has security patrolling at night.
The only draw backs are that they don’t have washer/​dryer hookups in the apartments (or at least in mine), the parking isn’t covered. you have to pay $ 50 a month for a garage spot, and the apartment’s entry system which can dial to your cell phone to let people in still doesn’t work after 6+ months.
Other than that, Axis at mile high is a good location, spacious, and has great amenities.
Also, the staff is awesome!

I’ve lived in many apartments in my life.
THIS IS THE WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX I HAVE EVER LIVED AT PERIOD.
After moving into a dirty apartment, I mean disgusting, we are informed that they forgot to charge us $ 200. Also wait an entire month without a shower because the walls were covered with this rusty film.
After I come home from work I find that everything is half way cleaned. I asked them to fix the sticky residue from the cabinets, what do they do? Spray paint, they spray painted over that sticky residue left after you peel up a sticker. So every time I go to grab a glass there is sticky paint on the bottom of my cups.
Oh, remember the gross shower? Also the solution is paint. Paint that started peeling shortly after being sprayed. I mean seriously if you still want to live in this place after reading my and everyone else’s review, I highly suggest you keep looking.
I was told by the front office blonde haired lady that if one of my roommates moved out to not pay their part of the rent and come and contact them. I e-​mailed them after he moved out stating that I could not pay his part of 300 and it needed to be billed to him. No response for 10 days, then one morning there’s note on the door they want $ 700 for attorney, and late fees. (Note at this point its already pretty late in the month).
After speaking with them, she claims she never said something like that and all I get is an apology and a $ 700 total? Only to turn around and dump another 1200 in rent?
Please. This please is fucking high if it thinks I’m gonna stand for this.

Just having read Lamont’s review, I have to say it’s pretty overdone. Yes, I have seen drug dealers in the parking lot. Yes, the «security» company they have patrol once a week is a joke. Yes, the apartment hallways often reek of some mysterious odor, though occasionally it also smells really good as many of the neighbors seem to enjoy cooking. There are a lot of good people living here, and it seems to balance out the a$$holes. But there do seem to be more and more of them lately. More gang graffiti lately and the management is unconcerned. Still, it’s not like some places I’ve seen.
The apartment allows pets, which I could care less, unless the owner can’t be bothered to pick up after them. Needless to say, the green areas are more yellow from urine and dog crap.
Maintenance is nice enough, but getting anything done takes weeks. Nothing is maintained. The pool furniture is trashed, the exercise equipment is trashed, the locks are in disrepair so you spend ten minutes struggling to get in.
For all the people I see in the office, the desk is frequently closed. I mean really, a three hour lunch every day seems excessive for any business.
I do like the location, right next to the light rail, but getting in and out of the parking lot can be murder in the afternoon as Parker backs up for a mile and no one wants to let you through.
At least the alarms work. They go off regularly, to the point I’ve started ignoring them entirely unless I actually see something on fire.
When our lease comes up, we won’t renew. There’s better for the price.

Mrs. Shadow and I live at the Axis at Nine Mile Station.
Ever since Depression 2.0 began, we’ve had to take up residence at these apartments formerly called The Aventine (which unbeknownst to virtually everyone residing in this residence of three buildings, was taken from Caesar’s «road to Rome»).
Now The Aventine Apartments is called the Axis at Nine Mile Station.
The apartments are spacious and the location is fairly good, right next to several interstates. But, folks, that’s where it begins and ends.
Since we’ve moved in here several years ago we’ve seen:
–A neighbor beating his girlfriend unconscious (with ambulances, cops, & children crying in the hallway) at 4 am
–Drug dealers roaming stairwells 24/​7, leaving cans of booze behind with broken bottles, glass pipes, and litter everywhere
–People jiggling door knobs and handles
–Bizarre sticky substances on elevator floors, with elevator vandalism reaching such a point «management» installed cameras
–Residents beating down doors to get into units, (with a neighbor asking if he could climb onto our 6^th floor balcony to climb out onto the railing to enter his unit that he had locked himself out of by climbing along the balcony rails like Jackie Chan) at all hours of the night and urinating on hall floors
–Fighting, arguing, and drunken yelling in the hallways & parking lots and car alarms going off constantly, without end
–You will NOT be able to sleep late, guaranteed, with all the fighting & arguing & partying going on ²⁴⁄₇ or people trying to break into each others’ units all the time.
–I’ve also gone out to my car to go to work in the morning only to be blocked in by moving vans or to find dents in my bumper.
–Nobody works at the Axis at 9 Mile Station for more than a few days, as a new teenager appears in the leasing office twice per week. When we complained about screams coming from a unit near ours due to the beatings going on, we only saw more people moving in to «squat» in the unit the next day, with beer bottles in the fire escape stairwell. There are now 6 adults living in that 2 bedroom unit and 3 minors. Complaints did nothing.
–Elevators may or may not work when you have groceries to carry & there are no carts, so be prepared to wait & hope your food doesn’t rot. We’ve had this happen on several occasions, where we’ve had a cart full of groceries only to find both elevators out of service indefinitely.
–Sometimes the halllways/​fire escape corridors smell like rotten eggs, enough to make you want to puke. And you don’t want to try going down them barefoot, unless you want to try pulling broken glass out of your feet afterward.
–The maintenance people are inept, lazy, & management is meddlesome and incompetent: they have repeatedly lost mail, lost receipts, taken a month to deposit rent, shut off water with no notice, begun construction & towed cars without prior notice, and they post flyers to «inspect» peoples’ units at least monthly to check for cockroaches and bedbugs, often knocking on doors in the middle of the night.
–One morning my wife went to her car only to find a complete wheel missing. After waiting 4 hours for police to arrive to report the stolen car wheel, we decided to begin the search for a new wheel – and ways to lock lug nuts so it could never happen again.
–People moving in or out in front of and behind buildings ²⁴⁄₇
–We were given flyers with a number to call for security. When we called the number we were told that the number was no longer in service and there is no ²⁴⁄₇ emergency line here… But the fighting and arguing and drunken mayhem never ends, whether it’s on balconies at 3 am, parking lots, or next door
–Finally, you never know when you’ll walk out the front door of your apartment to find trash in the hallways, sticky substances on the floor in elevators, dead mice or roaches, elevators out of service, construction going on, cars blocking you in, violent confrontations taking place next door or in the hallway as you try to leave, or some stumbling drunk in the elevator asking for change (as has occurred to me twice already when I was trying to go to work).
Mrs. Shadow has been advised to bring a bottle or mace or a baseball bat with her when she does the laundry, or just take the ol’ justice dispenser himself with her because you honestly don’t know what (or who) to expect at any given time.
You tell me: How’s that for a «nice» place to hang your hat and cape?
Update: We were just given a notice that all units would be inspected, again, for bedbugs for 3 days in a row, at any time during those 3 days. This time, with canine units! And we’re not allowed to be in our own units during that time. Dogs are allowed to enter beds, closets, wherever they want, and «may» break items. Is this even legal?
Y’know what? I think we’re ready to move as soon as possible! I’m done with the Axis at Nine Mile Apartments, in Denver, Colorado.
