Apex Irrigation

I have used the services of Apex twice, but I am going to avoid them in the future. Here’s why:
The first time that I used Apex was to expand my small irrigation system to include drip irrigation for raised vegetable beds. They gave competent advice, but their execution was sloppy and a little pricey. I ended up digging many of the trenches needed to do the job right and having them come back out to make the corrections. Not what I wanted, but I thought that the job was a little unusual, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
The second time was just a simple sprinkler blowout, again for a spendy $ 75. The nature of my system is that it requires the system to be shutoff using a six-​foot long t-​handle to close an outdoor, underground valve. The valve was failing, so it took a little longer than normal to shutdown and, as a result, we were charged more than the $ 75. My wife felt a little taken advantage of and I thought it was a nickel & dime move, but whatever, I could rationalize it. I just was frustrated that a company that advertises itself as «affordable, honest, quality» wasn’t really giving much value in service.
However, the straw that broke the camel’s back was regarding that failing valve. A company that prides itself on service would have found a way to take care of a customer in need, but Apex wouldn’t. It was recommended that the valve be replaced, due to concerns of freezing pipes in the winter — something I agreed with. However, Apex quoted me $ 2,000 to dig it up and replace it, and would knock $ 500 off the price if I did the digging. It took me a few days to process it before I called them back to see when we could get it scheduled. Apex decided it wasn’t worth their time. They left me hanging because they can do a sprinkler blowout for $ 75 in 15 minutes and couldn’t sacrifice the time to take care of a customer in a tough position.
I ended up digging the hole myself the next weekend and having a certified master plumber and his apprentice come and replace the valve — My Denver Plumber, if you’re interested. It cost me 6 hours of digging and $ 350. I’m embarrassed that I even entertained the idea of paying Apex to replace the valve and I’m angry that they don’t feel any loyalty to their customers.
I wouldn’t recommend these guys for anything. Their service was twice substandard and they don’t have any loyalty towards their customers.

UPDATE: In response to the message from Apex:
I was given the advice to call another company or perhaps a plumber. That was as far as the advice went. When I asked for a recommendation, there wasn’t one other than to go to a plumbing supply store and to ask the guy at the counter if he had a recommendation. You knew I was frustrated when we got off the phone and you knew that you were leaving me hanging.
I was given a quote from My Denver Plumber about the valve (without them having to see down the hole) of approximately $ 500. They came in under that budget and even had to replace some piping that I damaged while digging the hole. You knew that the price you quoted was and is outrageous.
Unilocal users can view my review history — I think they’ll agree that I generally leave pretty fair and positive reviews. I’m not trying to solve anything. I’m just trying to make sure other people understand that Apex will solve minor issues, but will leave them hanging when they’re really needed. Customer loyalty isn’t just emails. I think the one star is pretty fair, but the Unilocal community can decide for themselves.

I’ve used Apex for a couple of years now for winterizing my sprinkler system. They’ve been fine, but today they really stepped up their game. Sasha called with an exact ETA, was polite and professional and explained everything. He was not in a hurry to rush away like prior-​technicians, and he offered advice and let me know the benefits of spring sprinkler system servicing. I will definitely use these guys again next year for all sprinkler maintenance.

Though I’m not a fan of the list of rules they email and regale you with over the phone, this is a first rate sprinkler company. We had a number of issues with the system and when Derek left everything was working perfectly. While they are not cheap we definately got what we paid for.

I have now used Apex Irrigation twice. The first time was to turn on our sprinkler system when we moved into our house and the second was yesterday when they blew it out for the winter. The customer service and expertise that the technicians show is unmatched. Dave came to do the job yesterday and he was incredibly friendly and helpful with questions that I had. It also doesn’t hurt that their prices are awesome.

Hats off to Dave and Derek at Apex. Easy to schedule an appointment online and did not have to wait 2 weeks to get them to come out. Derek (technician) was on time, gave me a heads up with he was 25 minutes away, got through everything efficiently, friendly attitude. I have been working with the same sprinkler company for 10 years, but I am moving my business to Apex. Great show boys!

Dave and Derek both provided excellent, efficient and friendly service. Even though I asked for last minute help with a big project they immediately found a date and worked through the weekend to get it done. It’s hard to find quality service that is affordable and so available.

These guys were able to execute a pretty complex install very effectively. Their attention to detail and quality is very impressive. I honestly and wholeheartedly recommend these guys to my friends who are in need of a irrigation/​sprinkler system.

I have been fighting a pressure issue for a year now and Dave came over and figured it out in 10 minutes. Some things are best left to the experts. Dave was extremely friendly and explained everything that needed to happen and why. He also gave me different solutions with pricing to let me know all my options. I will definitely use Apex again when I have issues.

Can’t say enough good things about this sprinkler company. Friendly and reliable. They’re popular for a reason, so book early!
We’ve used Apex at the beginning and end of several sprinkler seasons. They’re always easy to deal with. You can schedule online and pay with a credit card.
Their technicians have showed me locations of valves and shut offs, given me tips for watering, and helped me figure out the control system for our sprinklers.
Book ahead, because these guys are very popular. They work really hard, and do a great job. Prices are very reasonable for the services received. I’ve used other companies before, but would never book anyone else.

Apex is as good as they say. Maybe… better.
Derrick and Mercedes are the hardest working, most capable and professional installers that I have worked with in any trade capacity. Oh, and really nice guys too. They completely repaired an older and root-​disrupted drip zone that required over a fifth of a mile of new hose and heads in a day. They tested to make sure that the pressure was where it needed to be and that the entire system worked right before they left. They worked tirelessly over a very long day and when they were done, it was hard to tell that they were even there. So often, clean up is overlooked or an afterthought in irrigation work, but not with these guys.

Being new to house ownership, a sprinkler system is quite complicated to setup and understand ! Sasha was right one time, showing me the details of the system, sharing information, explaining everything he was doing. Lots and lots of advices about what i was supposed to touch and not to touch !

I’m not sure why I can easily and coherently explain the nuclear power generation process but I can’t tell you the first thing about a sprinkler system, but that’s a fact. So finding someone to work on my sprinklers is kind of important to me, especially if I’d like to keep my weeds nice and green. Apex was recommended to me through a neighborhood site, so I decided to get them a try. Their online scheduling made it pretty easy, even though they were booked up for 2 – 3 weeks. Apex showed up on time, fixed all the issues I had on the spot, and seemed to do it for a reasonable cost. The service was pleasant and prompt.
After trying several other irrigation companies and dealing with constant disappointment, I believe Apex is going to be with me for many seasons to come!

Apex is a great company to work with. Dave was very responsive to my questions, online scheduling is a breeze and they worked with me to reschedule around the Denver monsoon season we’ve been having this year. Sasha (the service technician) worked with me to spot all of the deficiencies in our system and rank them in order of importance so we could spread the work out and not take one big financial hit. This is our first house with a sprinkler system and he took the time to explain all the parts and pieces, what they do and showed me how to program the system. I could tell he was very busy but he never acted like he was in too much of a hurry to do a good job. I’m totally happy with Apex and would recommend them to anyone.

Dave and Apex were fantastic. I got two quotes before I made a decision. The first guy came out and took 3 weeks to get me his quote. Dave got it to me very quickly.
Dave and his staff are just easy going guys. No mess, felt comfortable at work with my wife and kids home when they were working.
Check this out. .we had an old water shut off. Dave fixed that for a reasonable cost. He also dug up a tree stump and threw in a 7 zone sprinkler control when we paid for a 6 zone.
If you don’t hire Apex for your sprinkler needs, you should punch yourself in the face.

Absolutely love Apex and will recommend them to everyone. We had to replace our outside pressure vacuum breaker because (yet again) it froze and cracked (don’t get me started on how much I hate the system we adopted from the previous owners.) Here’s what is so awesome about these guys.
A) you can make an appointment online on the exact day you want. Their convenient calendar shows you exactly what’s booked up and what isn’t, so there’s no guessing and back and forth emails/​calls. Super easy! B) Dave sends an email immediately verifying the date and time, so again, no mystery, no additional follow-​up needed. C) Derrek was our tech. Told us what we needed, the cost, and got to work. He didn’t have to hop in his vehicle to go get extra parts, etc., so he was in and out during the window we chose. PS-​this was even with some extra hassles of having to solder around bad cuts from previous «fixes» and trying to work with the crap angles of our existing POS system. Before Derrek left we asked him some other questions about our system and other plumbing needs. He was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. I didn’t feel like he was trying to get to lunch, or his next job. He took the time to provide excellent customer service. D) Apex offers email «reminders» to their clients in the fall and spring for blowouts and startups. 2 emails a year! Not 470. Not incessant calls during all hours of the day. Yaaaaaay! So, I don’t have to set a reminder AND Dave schedules my appointment before everyone else? Brilliant! Now if I could only get my Dr’s office to be that convenient…

No doubt about it, Unilocal does not lead one astray when it comes to the overwhelmingly positive reviews of Apex Irrigation. After a disastrous and trying experience with another local irrigation company, I needed a fresh start. Fellow Unilocalers offered reassuring comments about Dave and Apex. In the fall of 2013, I scheduled Dave to drain my sprinkler system. He did a stellar job, and I intentionally waited over a year to write this review as I wanted to see how my system fared the following spring, over the summer, and to determine if I would hire Apex again.
Well, my system was perfect and charged without issue come spring 2014. All summer, I experienced no issues with my system. When fall 2014 came calling, I went to calling Dave again. This time, one of his associates (employee I suppose) came to drain the system. He was so early that I felt guilty and rushed home from my meeting. By the time I got there, he had everything prepped he could from the outside. As I opened the garage he came up to greet me and got right to work. The system was drained in no time and I got the fall early bird special on the bill. Given our early freeze in 2014, and the snow in Dec 2014, I’ve kept an eye on everything and so far all looks good.
I recommend giving Apex a shot (no really, I recommended them to my neighbor who needed a quick reliable fix just a few months ago). Dave and crew can also walk through your yard and discuss landscaping and irrigation updates, reconfigurations, or new installs. There’s no charge for that walk through and zero pressure to buy (no calls or hassling after the appointment). Apex is my irrigation go to!

I couldn’t be happier with Apex, and will definitely be sending my future sprinkler business their way. Booking the appointment for winterization was very easy to do online, and I received a reminder email the day before. They also sent a text about 45 minutes before they arrived.
Both guys were polite and professional, even taking their shoes off (I hadn’t asked them to, but they said ‘we walk through mud all day’) before entering the house. They had the sprinklers blown out and were on their way in less than 30 minutes.
Finally, I had a receipt in my inbox that night — and the amount they charge was a bit less than I’d been paying someone else. Great company, no hassle!

I had a broken sprinkler head that caused one zone to fail completely. I also wanted to have the rest of the system checked out and tuned up if necessary. I found Apex from the reviews here on Unilocal and decided to visit their website for the work.
First off their website is great in that it details pricing and has a very efficient online scheduling system. I went to the scheduling page, found a time slot only two days out and entered my information and work description. Minutes later I received a confirmation e-​mail and the appointment was set. The next day I received an appointment reminder e-​mail. Their web interface works very well.
Dave Hopper arrived on time and started work on my system immediately. He was very professional and efficient checking out the entire sprinkler system. He replaced a couple of heads and dug out the one that was leaking and causing the zone failure.
All of this was completed in less than an hour. The total cost for labor and parts was quite reasonable. I will use Apex again without hesitation and I recommend them to anyone else who has sprinkler system repair work.

Apex turned on my sprinkler system this year (5÷22÷14).
I will use them again! They scheduled online and confirmed the appt and called to say they were on their way. The tech gave me several tips and recommendations for better coverage and less water usage.
The overall bill was reasonable — nice job Apex!
