Ajax Custom Plating Company

I admit, I’m not good with this kind of thing and I really had no idea what plating is and why one would need to get something plated. Then I moved into this new house and noticed that all the heat registers whistled — they were covered with 60 – 70 years of layers of paint, so covered that air had a difficult time blowing through them. A friend suggested I take them to Ajax.
They soaked the registers in something that helped to eat up and peel away all those layers of paint. Then they replated them. I had several choices of finish and went with an antique nickel. Apparently you can’t do silver or gold here tho. They look great. Once I got them home and up, the vents stopped whistling and, did I say it already, they looked great!
The hours here are a bit difficult — they’re open Wed-​Fri, 10 – 5. And it’s a bit pricey (I paid about $ 70 per vent for this work.) But if you want to use the original hardware in your home when you’re fixing things up, Ajax is the way to go!
