We are a locally-​owned 15,000 square foot hardware store, paint store and garden center specializing in helpful, personalized service. We are proud to feature great brands including #1 rated Clark+Kensington paint, Benjamin Moore paints and stains, Weber, Traeger and Big Green Egg barbecues, Craftsman tools and power equipment, Maxfields soils and many more. In-​season our Garden Center features a large selection of Colorado-​grown annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables. Our knowledgeable associates are here to help you find what you need to complete your project. You will be greeted at the door, helped while you are here, and thanked as you leave — just like it used to be. That is why we are The Helpful Place serving the Baker, West Wash Park, SoBo and Platt Park neighborhoods of Denver since 2006.

History

Established in 2006.

Ace Alameda Station was founded by Andy Carlson, a 14 year resident of Colorado who left the high tech industry to pursue the American dream of owning his own business. In 2011, Andy joined forces with his long-​time friend and high tech colleague, Seth Wolins, to acquire Ace Cherry Creek at 1417 S. Holly St in Denver. Our two store operation serves the central and southeast portion of the City of Denver with Ace helpful service and a great selection of products.

Meet the Manager

David A.

Manager

David is our store manager. He has been with the company for more than 6 years having run the Garden Centers for both of our locations before getting promoted to store manager at Ace Alameda Station. David remains passionate about Lawn & Garden but he now puts his many talents to use leading our team to help you throughout the store. David’s management team includes Juan, Assistant Manager-​Sales, David M., Assistant Manager-​Operations and Tracy, Paint Department Manager.

Everyone here was very helpful. We had a key made at another ACE that didn’t work, this could have been due to our locks being old or just poorly cut keys. Either way, David was very friendly and cut us two copies at no charge. We will be back!

They charged me $ 8 for one cut to a board I bought there. Since Home Depot and Lowe’s do it for free, I went back thinking they would do the same. No. $ 8. More than the board. They didn’t even tell me it would cost that much (or anything) until after they finished. Bogus bogus bogus.

I love this little ACE! This is the place with the helpful hardware man. err. woman! After yesterday’s adventure to a bad ACE on S. Colorado, I decided to test this little Ace. Guess what? Everything I was looking for, they had and they were super helpful pointing me to the right places.
I came in (like yesterday) looking for potting soil, a planter, and a paint pen. The sweet girl at the cashier asked me right away what I was looking for. «Paint pen? Yes, they are straight back to aisle 26». They were tucked in with the spray paint. There was a great selection. No one had to humiliate anyone to find it either!
Next I was helped to find the potting soil and planters. There was an enormous selection and I got more than I came for. I mean, when you see spanish moss for soil cover, trap it and buy it!
Anyway– how different this little Ace is compared to its (mean) sister over on South Colorado is astonishing! YAY!!! Thanks for the great experience and helpfulness!

Basically pretty good. People seem switched on and knowledgeable about their products, and can come up with creative ideas. They know how to find the really obscure stuff, and they got a lot there. Nice lady in the outdoor garden section as well.
But senior management seems absentee, leaving it up to the guys on the line to make it up as they go. For example, we bought a new lawnmower recently for top dollar. You’d expect them to either service them or at least have a deal with a dude on the outside. But no!
If they can get it together on this one over the next week or so, rating goes up.
If not, it goes down.
UPDATE, more than a year later. As promised, down. And they still don’t have any recommendations on service of the lawnmowers that they sell here.

Well, they have stuff. They have a big selection of strange pickled things and other weird food stuffs. That’s about all I can say that’s positive.
Moved to the area and my roommate recommended this place for some things I needed. Seemed like a cozy neighborhood shop at first. Then I needed to ask if they carried 3-​prong extension cords. The young salesperson said, «Yes,» and just walked away. So I found it on my own. (they didn’t really) A very large amount of products are on the wrong shelves or hooks and therefore the prices are hard to find. Most prices seem a little higher than I’d expect which is really saying something considering I just came from NY.
Then I needed some mildew cleaners so this time I made sure to directly ask where they could be found. The older gentlemen came with me to aisle and hovered over me trying to say the 3 products they had were all different when they actually contained the same active ingredient. I can read the label thank you.
Finally, I went to check out. I waited in line for about 20 mins while 1 cashier dealt with a difficult customer. I definitely know how that can be but there were about 5 other employees just milling about the entrance way while the line just got longer and longer. Finally, another salesperson came to a 2nd of 4 possible registers. They had been using the counter to organize products it seemed so there wasn’t much room to put stuff down. She seemed to be confused about how to use the register so things still didn’t move much faster. The guy ahead of me ended up with a random box of nails added to his bill and had to wait around to get a refund. I’m just lucky I got out of there.
Went back with my roommate another time. He thought I was exaggerating about how bad this place was. Then we pretty much had a mini-​repeat experience again. Just go to Home Depot right nearby. They are cheaper, have more options, not ALL of their employees are inept, and they actually organize their products.

Everyone here is always so nice and helpful. As soon as you walk in, someone greets you with a warm welcome and asks how they can help you. They are genuine and truly appreciate their customers.
Recently, I was putting together a bed frame and realized that I was missing one of the castor wheels. I called Ace and asked if they sold any, and the lady on the phone even told me the aisle number. I quickly went over and found what I was looking for, and someone even helped me take off this added plastic piece so that the castor would fit perfectly.
I’d much rather shop here than any of the bigger hardware stores because of the friendly, helpful service. They also send out a lot of great coupons!

I’m a pretty big fan of this Ace Hardware. I have kind of an old timer loyalty to the 9th Ave. store by Queen Soops but this one at Alameda Station is so much more spacious, well stocked and it has pretty much unlimited parking. I can find virtually anything I need for my home projects. Probably more expensive that Homo Depot but not quite such a scene (I don’t have to look my best — lol) and there is an abundance of helpful staff.
Today was an excellent example of what I have found to be their over the top customer service. I bought a leaf blower/​vac (Craftsman) from them in November and the leaf mulch collector bag has already pooped out — cheap ass zipper. It has a 2 year warranty though and I want Sears to replace the bag free. They want an actual receipt though. I had all the other paperwork and even the original box but no receipt = no honoring warranty. So, I took a chance and called this Ace where I bought it. Left my contact information and my request for a duplicate receipt and assumed I’d never hear from them again. WRONG — Geoff (bless him) called me back in about half an hour, he’d found the receipt and was holding it for me when I walked in the door. Since I wasn’t actually buying anything new most places would have just blown me off. What a nice surprise and they’ve got a loyal customer for future purchases.

I have found myself here more than once in the past year for random items and the service has always been great. The staff is helpful without being suffocating and every once in a while there are coupons in the newspaper for a good percentage or dollar amount off. I picked up a large gas container for ½ price after my $ 10 off coupon. They also have a free rewards program where they will email you more coupons And give you points 10 for every $ 1 you spend. You get 1000 free points for signing up and when you reach 2,500 points you get $ 5– not great but it can add up quickly.

Love this little Ace. The moment you walk in the door you are helped and they will walk you right to what you are looking for! I mean in many cases people will just say, «Aisle four left side.» Not at Ace.
They also have a great little green house in the summer!

I love Ace Hardware, and this is a fantastic location.
I was in here the other day to grab one item, and found exactly what I needed. An employee greeted me in the main aisle, asked if they could help, and led me right to where I needed to be. There were tons of options over a decent price range.
Checkout was also friendly and efficient. So happy to live within a short drive of this Ace!

This is terrible, but I always forget this Ace Hardware is here. Located a friendly half mile away from me, I often drive all the way to Home Depot for stuff just because I don’t think of this location.
I like the staff here. Very nice. I haven’t actually had to buy anything here, since the handful of times (like yesterday) that I stopped in, they didn’t have exactly what I was looking for, (liquid vinyl repair) but I think everyone that I have met knows where everything in the entire store is located. Rare for staff!

These guys are awesome. They always make sure that you can find what you need and are also extremely knowledgeable on how to install/​fix things if you have questions. Usually when I hit the hardware store, I am already frustrated from my project. Its nice to have a store where they make it easy to get what you need pleasantly and get on your way. I will never wander aimlessly and angrily through Home Depot again.

Ace is the place for customer service. This is a nice store with plenty of great stuff. I hate the big places where you can’t find anything. I always choose Ace over them. The employees actually find the stuff for you instead of pointing you in the right direction. one guy even brought me a cart because my hands were full.

Never in a million Unilocal did I imagine I’d be lauding a hardware store. While it’s fun complimenting or cutting down to size a more conventional place like a restaurant/​bar, this is definitely a 4-​star outfit worthy of praise, an ace. Sh1t, that’s a pun — just slipped out.
I like in when I walk in the door with a broken doohickey or a smashed thingamabob (happens a lot with a 110-​year old house) and these guys almost invariably take one look and say «check out aisle 16, on the left.» Sweet. If they don’t know where it is, they get on their cosmic radio headset and find someone who will.
Compare this with Home Depot. The «affiliates» (can’t call them helpers) seem to monitor the security cameras so they can hide like roaches and minimize any chance they have of interacting with, much less *helping* a paying customer.
Only reason this Ace is not a 5 is because it’s a tad small.

I don’t usually review big chains unless it’s a unique situation, but this Ace is so awesome I’m going to review it. The staff is always SUPER helpful; unlike Home Depot it’s easy to find someone to help you out, and they’ll stick with you to make sure you find what you’re looking for. Also, they’re dog friendly and I like bringing my dog shopping with me.
I did buy a bar stool from them that was shoddy quality, but they had no problem refunding my money when I returned it.

I like this Ace. It’s bigger and has more of a selection than some of the neighborhood Ace’s.

From toilet seats to inversion mixers to bird seed to funky robot magnets, I’ve bought it all here. Clean and well lit, this hardware store is a pleasure to shop in. The employees are incredibly helpful and never made me feel foolish despite how ridiculously I phrased my question. Since I rent, I don’t do a lot of home repair, but when I do, I go here.

Even though this store is NOT the closest hardware store to my house, it’s my favorite. I come here for everything from paint to plaster anchors.
It’s quite new, so it’s nice and bright inside. Even though it is a small to medium-​sized store, there’s plenty of helpful, knowledgable staff on hand. The cashiers greet you when you come in and wish you a good day as you leave!
One experience tells the whole story: I bought two gallons of paint, which they tinted at my request to Prairie Dawn. After painting a wall with it, I decided I actually wanted it to be Chicken Broth for the other room, so I took one gallon back and asked them to add more color. The guy who helped me was maybe 17 years old, but he seemed confident enough and he took his time to understand what I needed. Now my Chicken Broth wall is absolutely fabulous! (Try THAT at Home Depot!)
Sometimes their displays seem to lack organization (light bulbs, for example, are on both sides of an aisle, and aren’t organized by size or shape or wattage, apparently just put out wherever there was an empty peg) but the employees seem to understand the system so it actually does pay to ask for guidance.
