Considering its prime location at the corner of a busy intersection and a university, you would think this Shell station would polish itself up a bit and operate less like something out of From Dusk Til Dawn. I can’t say I’ve stepped foot inside of its ‘mart but I’ve utilized its pumps on more occasions than I can count. You would think that one star review would prohibit from continuing to patronize this station, but the lack of competition in the area makes it the only gas station close to my house. When the E light is blinking, I have no other recourse. Plus they have an alright car wash. This review is for the pumps and wash only. The first problem with this gas station is that the pumps work when they feel like it. Half the time I get a bad pump with a broken locking mechanism, or a pump that spills even after you’re sure you’ve jiggled out the last bit. Nope, it’s all over your shoes now. Most gas stations are greasy, germ riddled places, but this one is the greasiest. I always feel slightly more gross after leaving here and the smell of gas carries with you. Just last weekend I stopped here to get gas and a desperately needed car washing. I bought the wash in tandem with the gas except a problem occurred — the pump wouldn’t recognize my fuel selection and just kept beeping at me. I pushed buttons, removed and replaced the fuel line, etc… and nothing worked. I cancelled the transaction and went 4 miles up the road to QT instead. Today I noticed an $ 8.00 transaction on my bank account I couldn’t relate to any recent purchases. After some hard thinking, I realized that although I got no gas and no car wash, I still got charged for the car wash. I had to call the bank and have them stop payment on it. The lesson here is if you can make it a few more miles, stop elsewhere for gas unless you want to waste your time, smell bad, and get ripped off.
