I can easily spend a couple hours down here. That’s exactly what happened, when I intended to just stop for a quick coffee while driving through, but Denton pulled me into a half day affair. The square isn’t that large, but it has so much to offer. At least 3 great coffee shops on or right off the square. There are two great antique malls to wander around, lots of restaurants and bars, an old fashioned ice cream parlor, boutique shopping, and just walking the side streets and checking out the neighborhood. Denton feels very charming, a little hippie, and fun. It being a college town gives it a great energy and it’s fun just to sit and people watch on a nice sunny day. P. S. The Chestnut Tree restaurant is amazing! Trust me on this one… whatever you do, try the beer bread.

The Denton Downtown Square(commonly called The Square by locals) is Denton’s largest gathering center. At its center stands the old Courthouse on the Square, which is Denton’s most distinctive landmark, and is surrounded by antique shops, coffee houses, bars, clubs, restaurants, and music venues. My favorite time to visit the Denton Square is during Christmas when a thousand twinkling lights cover the beautiful old Oak Trees. It is a beautiful sight.
