The customer service horrible. I went here for a wedding cake tasting. When the sales person realized I wasn’t getting the higher package, she became very disrespectful. I would never do business with them.

Ordered a Little Mermaid CupCake cake
And I wanted to CRY!!!
The colors were ALL WRONG and no one at the party could even eat them they tasted like cornbread and the icing was soooo bad!
We threw the whole thing in the trash and just had ice cream

I have been here twice and both times the cakes and cupcakes were stale and the icing tasted strange. This place is terrible.

The cupcakes are dry. The cake balls are small. The counter person was the only redeeming part of the whole experience. One of the bakers was eating a banana in plain sight and the other was out front smoking… Neither are things you want to see!

If nothing else, go here for the Apricot Dainties. My partner has been going to this place for years because of the magical lure of the famed Apricot Dainty. They also have Strawberry Dainties and a new addition being the Cherry Dainty. Dainties are small pastries with a moist fruit filling and a sweet glaze icing on top.
And for those of you who appreciate a cute cookie, get a load of these adorable gingerbread bikini girl cookies we recently found at Davis Purity Bakery. So enamored of these cookies were we that we couldn’t help but take photos of them. These cookies were decorated by a gal named Sarah and her sister. These two sisters currently work at Davis Purity Bakery and do a mighty fine job of decorating.
Decorations aside, go get yourself an Apricot Dainty!

So here is the scenario, I am going to a friends place for Thanksgiving and she sends me a text the day before. «We have Apple and Blackberry pie, can u bring either punkin or sweet potato?» So, I immediately think, ahhh, I’ll just head over to SuperTarget, grab one from the freezer and thaw it out. No biggie. So out I go and off to the south side of Denton.
I get going and then I pass the Ravelin Bakery and they are open, but I passed by too quickly and I missed the turns to turn around, it’s on a one way street. So I head back north and see another bakery up on my left. Davis Purity, and it’s also open. So I decide to stop. I walk in and this place brings me back to my childhood, when we used to go to the local bakeries in the Metuchen/​Edison area. Cream pies, cookies, pasteries and right across the bottom of the glass case were 8 – 10 pumpkin pies. They also had kolachies, which I will have to go back and try, but that’s another story for another time.
So I find out from the man behind the counter that Davis Purity Bakery has been around for 60 years. I’m now thinking, man, this pie better live up to decades of baking.
I have NEVER had pumpkin pie in my life. Not really sure why, but until yesterday (turkey day) I had never had it. Now I have, and I’m glad that I stumbled upon this bakery. Obviously I have nothing to compare it to, but it was like a pudding consistency, creamy and you could taste the various spices really well. The crust was nice and flakey and with a little whipped cream, it was definately something I would try again. I also want to go back for some of the other items the bakery has to offer.
So that is my little story, and I hope you go and support this really great bakery.

A friend ordered a red velvet cake for a birthday party and we got a white cake with red dye in it — no cocoa, and it wasn’t even red. It was pink! It wasn’t a bad cake, but it wasn’t red velvet by any means. Pretty disappointing.

Quoted us $ 49.50 for a decorated ½ sheet cake. When we picked it up, the bill was $ 64.50 even though they never told us there was an unspecified decorating charge. We called the store back and asked to speak with the owner, and the person who took the order and gave it to us spoke with the owner while we could hear both of them on the phone, and then came back and said the owner wasn’t there. We would have bought the cake anyway had they properly quoted it, but what they did with the price was unethical, and then when we were told the owner wasn’t there after listening to his voice on the phone, well. here’s our review of this bakery. One star only because we can’t give it zero stars. What kind of retail business owner refuses to talk with a customer to try to correct an omission or misunderstanding? We cannot condone dishonesty for any reason, and these people were unethical and dishonest.

It looked decent, but they didn’t want to serve me. A guy came out, looked me over, and disappeared. Never came back. I guess I didn’t look hungry enough? Ended up back at Ravelin, so all was fine in the end.

When I lived in Denton 20 years ago I went to Davis Purity Bakery all the time. They always seemed like one of the best bakeries around.
When I drove through Denton I was bragging to my wife how good Davis Purity was so we stopped and picked up a few treats. My wife said that her’s didn’t taste fresh. I thought it must be in her head so I bit into one and it tasted day old to me instead of fresh. Still pretty good but not how I remembered it. Only score’s 4 stars in my book.

The confections and pastries here range from divine to sublime! A favorite stop-​off for a breakfast cherry turnover, but I’ve also been terribly impressed by their display case cakes. For a last-​minute birthday cake purchase, the sweet ladies behind the counter graciously customized the top to perfection!
And if you’re picky about your icing, this isn’t the sickly-​sweet paste goop… homemade powdered sugar icing or the fluffy cool-​whip type toppings.

This is my favorite bakery from childhood. My mother and I both make it a point to stop here when we are driving through the old home town. I’m going to get my wedding cake from this bakery, too!
