«Homemade“ice cream by Richardson’s Farm(Middleton, Ma). Death by Chocolate was very good, tons of chocolate(ice cream, brownie, chips, and swirl). Cranberry Harvest was also very good(cranberry, whole walnuts, and chocolate. Chips). Coffee Kahlua Brownie was ok, but was in a homemade waffle cone that was soggy, not fresh and crunchy.

Stopped here and had delicious ice cream that tasted homemade since they were all so rich and creamy! Delicious peanut butter Oreo, green monster, strawberry, vanilla and maple walnut. Banana was only so-so. Strawberry reminded us of the strawberry ice cream we had growing up. Also, huge, generous portions. Can’t wait to have more ice cream on the Cape! Loved the guy scooping as well, so very nice and friendly!

What’s the Scoop is the best ice cream I have ever had! I have had ice cream all over the country since I have somewhat of a sweet tooth. As soon as you take your first bite you can tell this ice cream is made at a smaller dairy farm not a larger mass producing farm. The owner of the stand is knowledgeable about every kind of offered ice cream and yogurt(over 20). He is very generous with the portions and allows you to get two scoops with the small size. This stand also offers 2 kinds of no sugar added ice cream– coffee and raspberry, which is a lifesaver when you have a child who can’t eat sugar!

Close to bed time for the little ones? Need a solution to long lines for ice cream and mini golf? Still a well kept secret for mid cape ice cream… great choices, nice staff and owner there most days… great place, lots of smiles.

Best ice cream in the area! Great selection of ice cream, frozen yogurt, Italian ice etc. They serve generous portions & are reasonably priced. The staff and owners are amazing as well. Definitely my go-to ice cream place :) Also, parking is plentiful and easy. Right off of route 28 so it’s convenient but not too congested of an area

OMG this is what«homemade» ice cream is supposed to be!!! CREAMY, delicious, yummy, etc. We had at least ten of the flavors over the week we were on The Cape. From the exotics like Cranberry Harvest to The Green Monster, and from the basics like Black Raspberry to Mint Chocolate Chip, all were amazing. Best place we found for ice cream!!! My only suggestion: More flavors that are smooth/without pieces of things in it(like nuts or chips) for those of us that prefer licking to biting and chewing.

I went on a road trip through New England with my fella recently, and we only had a few rules for the road. One was that if we saw an ice cream stand, and we weren’t late for something important, we’d stop in! Well, I’m only going to bother to Unilocal about two of the places I had ice cream on my ten day New England adventure, and only one of them deserves five stars! What’s the Scoop is AWESOME! They had at least twenty flavors of fresh, wonderful ice cream. I got a waffle cone of Cake Batter, and it was crazy delicious. I asked for rainbow sprinkles, and they basically wrapped the entire thing in them! Yay! Total confectionery delight! The girls working the joint were really friendly and nice, the prices were decent and the selection was fantastic! Even if you’re late for something important, it’s worth stopping into What’s the Scoop!

It was a cold night on the Cape, but we got a warm welcome and great ice cream. Keep up the good work!

My favorite ice cream spot on Cape Cod. Friendly service, huge portions and not crazy long lines like at the place down the street! They have so many great flavors I honestly can’t pick a favorite. I usually get two kinds in one dish, which you can do even in a small, because the portions are awesome! I also enjoy the frozen yogurt which tastes just like regular ice cream but is better for you! I believe they have sugar free flavors as well. Usually staffed by nice college-aged girls who work hard and always have a smile on. Skip the lines and head to What’s the Scoop, you won’t be disappointed.

I would walk from Boston to Whats the Scoop! In my opinion they are no pricier/busier than anywhere else BUT what you will get without having to pay extra for in fast, reliable and friendly service! Mini-golf for $ 6 just right next door.

Cape Cod Creamery, packed solid with a long line. Sundae School in Dennisport, turning cars away at the driveway. Then we saw this place, with only a half-dozen cars in the lot and a line only 3 people deep. Cape Cod’s high-calorie secret is What’s The Scoop, an unassuming homemade Ice Cream stand on Shad Hole Road. Top quality ice cream, decently priced(two medium cones, under $ 12). Ample picnic tables and there’s a miniature golf place(Susan’s) right next door with facing benches(so you can look at the mini-golf scene rather than the parking lot). For some reason, the tourists haven’t found this place. I’m glad!

Fantastic ice cream. After several disappointing trips to some of the incredibly popular spots in Harwichport, we found this place on Unilocal.Great old style ice cream, the kind you grew up on, with lots of unique flavors. Go for the Purple Cow frozen yogurt, but honestly it seems you can’t make a bad choice here.

There are a lot of places to get ice cream around here: Sundae School, Smugglers, Kate’s, and even the grocery store. Here on the Cape you pay a premium for all but the grocery store. This place is no exception. I ordered a regular sundae with hot fudge. Total was $ 6 or so. Two scoops of good ice cream with a few tablespoons of fudge and some whipped cream. Hmmm, I was expecting small, but it was disappointingly small for the price. I should have gone with just ice cream. The $ 2 different in price is not worth the little topping you get. What was good? The service is top notch. Very friendly and helpful. The do let you sample, but only two(understandable). The samples are generous however. The ice cream is good too. A LOT of flavors… almost too many. Some more info about the flavors would help. The names are just too vague. Price of regular ice cream isn’t terrible for the cape. Just skip the toppings and your wallet with thank you. Bottom line, a good place to go for ice cream if you want unique hard to find flavors and don’t want to wait in line for far too long. A three may seem low, but keep in mind it means A-OK in Unilocal lingo. This place is good. Not great. Definitely not bad or even average. A-OK.

I have been eating ice cream in Dennisport since 1983. What’s the Scoop is the secret stash. Richardson Farm Ice Cream is great stuff. The staff is kind and no lines. And if large servings of high quality ice cream at an affordable price does not do it for you and if you have been to Sundae School before — What the Scoop has short lines and lots of PARKING! My favorites are Green Monster and Moose Tracks.

My kids get their choice of ice cream & toppings. I get my non-dairy treat. My favorite is the blue raspberry because it turns my tongue blue. [I’m such a little kid!] Low cost & friendly staff. The hardest part is the kids picking their flavor.

Staffed by a crew of friendly college girls and serving up some of the BEST ice cream on Cape Cod, What’s the Scoop is frequently overlooked by the hordes of clueless tourists who wait in endless lines down the road at Sundae School. Listen up, savvy readers: forget Sundae School. What’s the Scoop makes amazing homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt, and the only time I’ve ever seen a line at this place is when the owner hosted a $ 1 a Scoop Promotion to commemorate his fifth year in business. What’s the Scoop provides your standard Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Cookies’n’Cream. BUT you can also choose from harder to find selections like the Maine Black Bear(Black Raspberry Swirl with Chocolate Raspberry Mini-Melts in Vanilla Ice Cream), Moose Tracks, and Purple Cow(Blackberry Frozen Yogurt with White and Dark Chocolate Chunks). They also make killer Rum Raisin and Blackberry. This is the best ice cream on the Cape I’ve had in the 20 years I’ve been coming here.
