The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel

Used to be excellent. Now that management has changed things are bad! In spite of just being renovatated, the place is filthy: gross bathrooms, counter with half & half loaded with fruit flies. Manager on site but oblivious. Had an egg salad bagel that was inedible, had lettuce and tomatoe that were past their prime and wrecked taste even after I scraped it off. He gave me a muffin instead, which was nice but didn’t seem at all alarmed that I may have just had bad egg salad!

I was not previously impressed with either location. My friend John frequently arrives at Starbucks around the corner with Brooklyn Bagel etc. I decided to give another try.
On a Saturday at Noon tables were mostly all taken in and outside. I studied the wall menu and a friendly woman asked to help me. I ordered a dozen bagels and she told me I’m getting 13. Assorted cream cheeses and ¼ pound nova package completed my order. Quick. Friendly. High-​quality freezer bags. Brought home for lunch with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed. Bagels are great and I’m now a believer.
I previously enjoyed the various fresh coffees and am told they have coffee ice for your iced coffee. I’ll be back.

The bagels are OK, they’re good but not the best I’ve ever had. The selection is average, with your typical bagel flavors and nothing out of the ordinary. I tried the Bagel Tasters, which is a container of small bagel pieces served with a side of cream cheese to dip in. The bagels were tasty, a little hard on the outside and not as doughy as I would have liked on the inside, but they were good. There were only 5 flavors in the taster pack (plain, poppy, sesame, everything and salt), even though it came with 12 taster pieces. I tried my husbands asiago cheese bagel and it was fine, like the others. He ordered an ice coffee and the make your own coffee bar is neat, as they have coffee ice cubes. It definitely helps to limit the wateriness as the ice cubes melt, and its a great idea. Overall, average option for bagels.

This is one of a great chain of bagel places (but the Coral Springs site does not participate in the loyalty program): the food is consistently good regardless of which branch you visit, and the iced coffee is definitely worth a detour. The service crew is always friendly and accommodating, and their loyalty program is generous with its discounts.
Example: today, I asked if I could get some roast beef for my dog without buying the sandwich; the girl at the counter as receptive to this idea and spoke with the manager. A minute later, they gave me about ½ lb of beef and charged me less than $ 3(BTW-my dog scarfed it up in a nanosecond).

I was looking for some coffee that wasn’t Starbucks when I stumbled upon this place. As soon as I saw the coffee ice cubes, I was sold.
I got the 24 oz. iced coffee and 12 bagel bites with scallion cream cheese. This was my first time here so I was a little confused when the cashier just handed me an empty cup, but I caught on soon enough. I think this is a better way to do it since you’re able to customize your coffee however you want with the type of coffee, milk, and syrup. When I get iced coffee I want it ice cold, and with the self-​serve coffee ice cubes they have here you could say I went a little overboard with the ice. After I got over my infatuation with those cubes, I got some of the dark roast which I found to be underwhelming. I prefer dark roast because of its strong flavor, but it was unfortunately lacking here. I tried adding small amounts of hazelnut, simple syrup, and milk to get some kind of flavor. In the end I just loaded up on the coffee and called it a day. An hour later, the coffee was still going strong and the flavor was actually enhanced by the coffee cubes. They all melted in ~3hrs at room temp.
The bagel bites were also a hit or miss. I was glad to see that they didn’t skimp out on the bagels or cream cheese. Given that there’s a specific count, they could’ve just thrown any pieces into the box. Instead, they gave a good variety (plain, sesame, everything, salt) and counted two pieces stuck together as one. The smaller pieces were hard, as I’d imagine, but the larger ones were crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. The cream cheese was also filled to the brim and lighter than store-​bought cream cheese, like you wouldn’t feel terrible about yourself if you ate too much of it.
Overall, I have some mixed feelings about this place, but there are enough positives to make me consider coming back.

While I love their bagels, and visit here with my husband a couple of times per month, we’ve had service issues more than once and I feel it necessary to update this review. This location clearly does not know how to handle their special promotions. They need help in this area, so if you are participating in any special promotion, beware. In fact, I just won’t purchase any specials any longer. Here’s why, and yes, these are first world problems!
Over the holidays they advertised a pumpkin dessert item. My husband popped in, waiting in a very long line with snowbirds, only to find out they were «out».
Next day, repeat of the above.
Next day, (yes, third trip!) repeat of the above, but he asked them how on earth they could be out of them every day, especially when he arrives shortly after opening time. No one at the counter seemed to know, so the manager stepped up to inform my husband that no one had been making this item. Since my husband had been in 3 days in a row looking for this promotional item, the manager asked him to come back the next day to pick up the item at no charge. Fourth visit was a charm, but it shouldn’t have had to happen that way.
Next promotion — Egg Pockets! Today is National Bagel Day. My husband ventured in for their «Buy One, Get One» egg pocket. He ordered the simple Egg and Cheese pocket (they offer a few different versions), brings one home for me just as I’m hopping in the car for my 40-​minute commute, and then calls me 10 minutes later (while I’m on the freeway already) to tell me NOT TO EAT IT! It had a sausage patty in the middle and layers of bacon on the bottom. We are vegetarians. While some of you reading this might be thinking, «Mmmm…bacon», I’m highly allergic to it, and will get sick in a matter of moments. It’s not pretty.
So, off to Brooklyn Water Bagel again to take his pocket back, and explain what happened. I opened mine up with a knife when I arrived to the office and sure enough it was loaded with pork, and tossed in the garbage. So much for my breakfast treat!
Please beware of any special promotional item! Just stick with a standard menu item, as employees are apparently not property trained here.

We’ve been going to Brooklyn Water Bagel since 2011. We’re huge fans, and nearly always get something that includes an asiago bagel.
They recently remodeled the place. It is much more open now with additional seating. However, we find it rather sterile and cold, like a Chipotle. They used to have TVs continuously playing The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy, and signage with Larry King’s endorsement. There’s just no personality anymore, which isn’t a huge deal since we usually get our food to go.
What is a larger deal is that the last two times they’ve run a promotion, it’s been a hassle.
In the fall of 2015, they emailed a $ 1.00 off coupons for their pumpkin cheesecake. I swung by during the promotional period to grab one and was told that they didn’t make any the night before. I came by two days later and got the same response when I tried to purchase one. The third time I tried, they had them available. Why send out a coupon that has a 5-​day window and not have the featured product available every day?
Fast forward to February of 2016. We came in on Sunday and saw signs stating that Tuesday was National Bagel Day, and they were having a Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion on their new Bagel Pocket breakfast sandwiches. I came buy on National Bagel Day three minutes prior to them opening so my wife could take her bagel sandwich to work. There were three total customers in the store. I ordered a «Bagel Pocket with egg and cheese». I received the BOGO pricing, paid, and left. After my wife left for work, I bit into my bagel pocket to find bacon. I don’t eat bacon and my wife is a vegetarian. When she got to work she confirmed that hers was incorrect as well. I returned to the store, they apologized, and they replaced the bagel pockets.
If we combine the two incidents above, that’s five drives to Brooklyn Water instead of two. The service is good, the food is great, but they need to get their act together when it comes to promotions.

Absolutely love this spot! The staff and management there are so nice and recognize you, if you are a regular, which gives it a great personal feel, too.
My bestie and I go there every couple of weekends on Sundays right when they open. I always end up getting the bagel bites or poppy seed flagel/​bagel. their muffins are super delicious, too.
Especially on the weekend, it fills up really quickly there around and after 9 am, but you won’t get bored while waiting in line as you can watch the workers there create the bagels on their machinery behind glass. It’s super interesting.
I recommend joining their rewards program for free, which gives you 5 $ for every 50 points. Once you’re signed up (only takes a minute online btw) you just have to tell the cashier your phone number with each order you place :) It’s that easy!
They also just renovated the whole place throughout end of December and January, which was a slight bummer, but we’re gonna go check the upgrade out this weekend and I am curious to see the changes inside and to get my yummy bagel fill!

I love this place! I’m from Long Island and my parents are both from Brooklyn so I’m quite familiar with a great New York bagel. I must say that Original Brooklyn Water Bagel has the best bagels around! I love the taste and consistency of the bagels and their sandwiches are great too! Oh, the coffee ice cubes are amazing as well. I know there are a lot of bagel options in the area and I highly recommend OBWB!

What happened to the bacon in the bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich. There was hardly any and it was cooked in with the egg.
When they first opened, they put slices of bacon, that you could taste, on the egg sandwiches.
The everything bagel was still excellent.

I have been to a couple of locations and they are nearly identical.
THE PLACE
My only issue with the setup is that you cannot see the bagels or names of the bagels until it is your turn to order. The bagels are kind of behind where the cashiers are, so need to be all the way to the front of line to see them. This could be solved in several ways, but the easiest would be to have a sign listing what bagels they have for the day. I don’t need to see the actual bagel, but want to know what I want to order before I get up to place my order.
This location has a better setup for the coffee that the one in Boca (which is crowded). There is plenty of room to get your coffee, your milk/​sugar and lids.
THE FOOD
The value is pretty good. The bagels are good size and they put enough cream cheese or egg or whatever you order on the bagel. I haven’t witness the bagels being made, but they always seem fresh, so I would venture that they make them daily.
For the iced coffee they have coffee ice cubes. Simple, but brilliant idea.
Their coffee is pretty good. And they have all sorts of flavors you can add to it if you want. I am more the traditional coffee drinker, so I don’t add that fluffy stuff to mine. But if you like that sort of thing, they have lots of choices.
All in all, one of the better bagels you can get in the area. And pricing is fair.
THE STAFF
Not much to say, except they are efficient in taking orders and every time I get what I ordered without a mistake. Oh, and they are friendly enough. So, what else do you really need when getting breakfast?
I will be back again. But not too often as I don’t want to eat that many carbs all the time.

Daaaaaaaaaamn. Why don’t I live near this piece of perfection? Ok, so the bagels. Whoa. I could eat an asiago bagel every day of my life, and I would be just fine. The sandwiches are huge — I can only eat half. The pricing? On par with everyone else, but the quality and quantity are beyond compare. The coffee: very nice, bold flavor, even with the decaf! Ice cubes? Oh yeah, they’re made of coffee so you don’t get a sad cup of watered down coffee water in a hour. The service is great — they made my sandwich on the wrong bagel, and I didn’t want them to remake it, as I had already eaten half, so they gave me a free bagel. Very friendly indeed. Sometimes they’re busy and don’t quite hear what you’re asking well, but if you speak up and repeat, all is well. Have patience and they will deliver!

I don’t come here often but when I do my taste buds are always satisfied to the fullest…
That being said I have to admit that every time I visit, I order the same thing… A bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel!
Its been awhile but as soon as I sunk my teeth into the first bite I remembered why I like Brooklyn bagel so much.
The reason for giving only 4 out of 5 stars is that it is not any place that will blow your mind… Walking, order your sandwich sit down, eat and leave.
The place is not particularly clean nor particularly dirty… But my oh my the bacon egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel is awesome!

Excellent place to get bagels in the morning. I am not sure about the ‘Brooklynized’ water filtration system they have in place, or what they define ‘Brooklynized’ as, but they have pretty damn good bagels regardless.
It can be very busy on the weekends, so it’s one of the worst-​kept secrets in Delray, but they get you through pretty quickly. One day I’ll have to try a breakfast sandwich!
I’ll definitely be back here again.

Good food, good bagels. Atmosphere is a bit chaotic. Bagels definitely come close to those of NYC. Service took a bit long for a bagel place.
Would come here again for the iced coffee — it comes with ice coffee cubes so the coffee doesn’t get watered down.

«There must be something in the water»
This delray location is great. Full of senior citizens on a weekday. Not surprisingly since most are from northeast. I am not a fan of the ice coffee due to the ice coffee cubes. However, I may be the only one. It’s little over priced for the ice coffee. The bagels are amazing. It’s a Larry king sponsored. Watching employees bake the bagels from scratch front of me is awesome.
I been here few times, it’s better than the Boynton location. The location is very busy especially on the weekend, talking 20 min wait. I ordered my usual 2 Manhattans, sounds excessive but they are delicious.
Smoked salmon with cream cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on a everything bagel toasted.

If you come here on a Saturday or Sunday morning, the place will always have a line to the door or out-​the-​door. This happens because there is no secret to Delray Beach that this place has an amazing selection of the most delicious bagels.
Each time that I went, the place was busy. However, the line moves quickly. I always just get half a dozen bagels for the rest of the week too. They stay fresh for a few days following.
Seriously, I just love this place for my bagel fix.

I stop in this Brooklyn Water Bagels location every once in a while when I am in Delray and I always enjoy the food and I love the iced coffee ($ 299/3.99). The place is very clean and the servers are always very friendly. Today when I walked in for a late lunch, the line was so long that I almost walked out. I gave it a shot though, and I was glad I did. The line moved very fast and in less than ten minutes I was at the counter. What impressed me more was that after giving my order, my hot sandwich was at the table in about 2 minutes, less time than it took to prepare my precious iced coffee.
Now I am an iced coffee lover and the iced coffee here is a special treat for me. Making my glass is a process, albeit a fun one! I love the ice cubes made of coffee. That makes sure your iced coffee doesn’t get all watery when the ice melts. Also, the coffee cubes give your coffee an even richer flavor. Decisions, decisions… First, there are several flavors of iced coffee to choose from. There are also several milks and flavored creamers. Should I use a flavored creamer today such as French vanilla or hazelnut and sweeten my coffee with one shot? Or use cream and simple syrup or be decadent and add some U-​Bet chocolate syrup? What I actually usually do is have a bit if everything!
The menu is fairly simple and much more limited than I remember: Egg Sandwiches ($ 3.99-$ 499), «Bagelwiches» ($ 6.29-$ 7.49) which have mostly salad fillings (egg, chicken, tuna, whitefish), as well as ham or turkey & cheese. There are also five «Signature Sandwiches», named after the NY boroughs. I had the «Staten Island» ($ 4.99) today, basically a veggie egg white omelet on a scooped out bagel. The eggs could have used a bit more seasoning but hey, the place is in Delray and many of the customers were seniors. I’m sure they are very cautious about salt input! Of course the most expensive sandwich is the «Manhattan» ($ 8.49), which is your basic bagel & nova. I was slightly tempted by «Da Bronx»: hot ham, turkey, melted Swiss on a tortilla, but being at a bagel place and not a Mexican place, I thought I should go for the bagel and not the tortilla.
Speaking of bagels, these bagels get my seal of approval. Being from NYC, I cannot stand some of these dough balls some establishments down here call bagels. Are they on par with NY bagels? I find the Brooklyn Water Bagels to be a bit crispier and less chewy than NY bagels, but they are still fantastic! Bagels are $ 10.98 for a bakers dozen. They have plain, scallion, low-​fat, nova, veggie cream cheeses, as well as butter and peanut butter to top them off.
Brooklyn Water Bagels also has some yummy sweets, including huge muffins ($ 2.49) and one of my favorites, the huge Black & White Cookie ($ 2.49). Not only do they have Black & White cookies, they have something I have never seen before, huge Black & White Muffins-​sinful!
As Britt said in her review, this is not a place to go for the best «traditional Jewish appetizing» i. e really good nova, whitefish salad. However it is a great place for a quick bagel sandwich lunch and the most awesome iced coffee in town.

Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. is a bit gimmicky in their approach. Water from Brooklyn! Celebrities names from Brooklyn written on the walls! Watch us make bagels through a viewing window! Cutesy bagel sandwich names! I prefer mom and pop shops that make delicious bagels without the pomp and circumstance but hey, that is me.
This place was mobbed for breakfast. The prices on the bagel sandwiches are pretty outrageous. The eggs are clearly microwaved into rubbery submission. The bialys are really just flatter bagels. No cucumber for your tomato and cream cheese sandwiches. But they properly seed their Everything and the iced coffee cubes are a useful gimmick. Also, egg creams on tap!
That said, the price, the slower service, the mobs of people. the subpar bialys, you can do better.

I am originally from Brooklyn, so when I found out about this place, naturally I had to go, try the food and coffee and right away criticize the place how there is no way this is going to taste like its just like in Brooklyn.
Well, to my disappointment and surprise the bagels were absolutely amazing, and the coffee was totally out of this world. I am still dreaming about it sitting in NYC buried under 20 feet of snow.
If you are in the area, make it your priority to visit and grab breakfast from this joint! You will be glad you did.
