in town visiting family and we happened upon 1 perfect beach day, so we packed the car and headed to Delray Beach. lunchtime came and I went hunting for sandwiches to eat on the beach. stumbled upon this little courtyard café and it looked promising. ordered a roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomato and jack cheese, and a chicken salad sandwich, both on pita bread, thinking the pita would be a proper vessel for handheld beach sandwich eating. nothing could be farther from the truth! got back to the beach, unwrapped and quickly realized forks would be needed. Both were more like salads between two thin slices of pita, not sandwiches. The roast beef was in very small pieces, mixed in with the lettuce and shredded jack cheese. and while the chicken salad looked like chunked chicken, my first reaction was it tasted like tuna. at that point, not wanting to make another return trip to complain, we just ate it. all in all, a sub-par sandwich experience. and to think, I walked right by the #1 rated sandwich place in the area to get here… hmmph.

A great little place to enjoy fresh and tasty nibbles! I had the french toast… the toasted almonds were a great addition! My only complaint is the cramped space inside. Try not to hang around after your order, go outside and find yourself a cozy spot in their courtyard, your name will be called when your food if up. Enjoy!

Oh my gosh. …you have to eat at this gem. Great little court yard to eat in while enjoying the fabulous breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito, had homemade guacamole, salsa an turkey sausage. …enjoyed every bite. Fruit salad was so fresh. I ate breakfast at Lunas Rosa. … Ciao blows Lunas away!!!

This is a great spot to grab lunch during a long beach day. The sandwiches and salads are really superb. Would especially recommend the Avocado Sandwich.

Great little breakfast place down the street from our condo. Freshly squeezed orange juice and crab quiche really hit the spot. And it came with a nice fruit salad. What’s not to love?

This café might have been nice if the manager wasn’t so unfriendly and rude! My family was hungry and we walked in to checkout what the menu was like… we decided that it wasn’t the food we were looking for and excused ourselves, but on the way out we heard the manager call us idiots! This place is not worth looking at or checking out. Unless you like rude and unfriendly staff.

Pro: Great breakfast, fun people. Birds to feed if you don’t mind that. Con: Plastic plates and tableware. Seats somewhat uncomfortable.

Ciao is a very charming place. Although you can’t people watch there since it is set back from Atlantic Ave, it is a definite place to go to for some quiet in a pretty garden setting. Definitely sit outside. There are a couple of tables inside but the place is very small. There is no table service. You order inside and they call you name when your order is ready. My only criticism is that when they called us only 2 of the 3 orders were ready. I hate it when that happens.
I had an outstanding breakfast burrito with turkey sausage. Since there are no servers, I am not really sure if there are free refills on the coffee.

Once I found this place and it’s beautiful outdoor patio I was delighted that(they are the only place other than Starbucks on the ave) they carry a dairy alternative for coffee. I had a great hazelnut coffee with almond milk. And they had gluten free toast! What?! Great service and for an elite eater like me I felt more like I was back home in Cali or NYC than in Del Rey Beach.

A hidden gem near the beach. This café is just a bit from the beach on atlantic. Look for their sign on the left along the sidewalk. The café is in a courtyard. Everything is made to order & delicious. I had an egg white omelette and it was real egg whites, not poured from the carton. Filled delightfully with fresh spinach & mushrooms. A very nice side of super fresh fruit — melons, watermelon, kiwi, pineapple & strawberries. My husband had the breakfast burrito with spinach wrap and added turkey sausage. He enjoyed it. Very pleasant casual dining off the beaten path and definitely worth the few extra steps. Give yourself time to enjoy. Its all made fresh and that takes a bit of time when they are busy.

This is my favorite hidden little spot by the beach. I discovered it the other day when I saw a sign for smoothies. They have delicious healthy refreshing smoothies and amazing breakfast at affordable prices. This is a nice place to go with a friend, date, or by yourself to talk or get some work done or relax. It’s very quiet and therapeutic kind of like a secret garden. A nice change from the loud bottomless mimosa spots in delray. This would be good for a first date or even a job interview. Meter street parking so easier on a weekday

We visited this little gem of a place for brunch one morning about a month ago while on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that their menu had many organic options as well as lots of natural ingredients. The French toast was delicious and my husband really enjoyed his breakfast burrito but one thing we cannot forget was the pina colata smoothie — hands down the best smoothie we have ever tasted(and we drink a lot of smoothies!). It was so good that I’m considering moving to Delray Beach. Just kidding but I totally tried to recreate the smoothie on my own and failed miserably. I wish I knew their tricks but until I find out I’ll just look forward to the day we visit again :)

Got an iced coffee here while walking around Delray Beach. It’s a cute little café tucked off the side of the street. There are only a couple of chairs inside, it seems like the majority of the seating is outside of the front entrance. Wish they had had simple syrup to add to my iced coffee, but they did have a bottle of agave which was a fine substitute. They also appeared to be serving mimosas with fresh squeezed OJ — yum!

You can’t go wrong at this nice little patio restaurant set back from the traffic on Atlantic Avenue. They serve breakfast all day and are reasonably priced and very friendly. I’ve been here several times over the years and have never had a bad experience.

This place is a little shop with a lot of flavor! They made eating healthy fun and tasty long before ‘organic’ and ‘grown locally’ was fashionable. After many years in business they still have outstanding daily specials and a smile for everyone who walks through the door.

Quiet area. Staff was very friendly. It’s a bit hidden from the street which can be a good thing so that it’s not overly crowded. I wouldn’t have seen it from the street if it wasn’t for Unilocal. Food(i ordered breakfast) was really good. I will definitely return if I’m in the area. If you get a chance the outdoor seating was just great. Quiet, separated from other tables, adds to the pleasure of enjoying a meal with someone and actually being able to hold a conversation. I almost never eat outside, but loved it here. Will return!!!

Really liked this hidden spot. Snagged a table in the courtyard with nice shade. Had a falafel sandwich and split a Greek salad. My wife had a roast beef in the ‘Mediterranean’ style. I don’t know what that means but, in general, don’t order a roast beef on a 90 degree day. I thought it was gross. No fault of the establishment. The beef was thin and medium rare. Very nice. I could eat the falafel they served everyday. And at the prices, I probably could too.

Cute little café nestled in the back of a hidden courtyard in downtown Delray a couple blocks from the beach. Fresh salads with outdoor patio tables in a secluded alcove. We like it since it is quiet and hidden and we can take our little dogs for an enjoyable bite after walking around the beach and downtown. This café is a walk in and order, then self service carry-your-tray outside kinda place. Definately not the trendy see and be seen kinda place on the ave where you are sitting on the side walk being mowed over by foot traffic. I guess it depends on the type of lunch you are looking for, but the food is fresh and priced right.

The best breakfast burrito I have had in a long time. Fresh salsa avocado, perfectly cooked eggs wrapped in a slightly toasted tortilla. Fresh fruit was an amazing blend of bananas strawberries cantaloupe watermelon and honeydew! Homemade green tea and regular tea! The cozy tables are nestled in a quiet courtyard surrounded by Bougainville and lush Florida vegetation. The service is so friendly and fast I would eat 2 meals a day here by the Delray Beach walking distance from the Marriott. Go to Ciao now.

Serving you fine and healthy food Since 1978, Ciao Sidewalk Café is a hidden gem located off Atlantic Avenue, East of the Intracoastal Bridge. There is a nice casual courtyard sitting area outside where you can dine and breathe in the fresh ocean(just two short blocks from the sand). Notable Breakfast items include the delicious omelet with your choice of fillings served with a fresh fruit salad. The muffins are also yummy. There are several vegetarian offerings, and the sandwiches and salads are excellent to boot. Give it a shot if you need a spot for breakfast or lunch, and you will not be disappointed
