Decided to go to Stone House today since it has been a while. Everything was fine until we got our bill. So my husband went up to see what each charge was. Keep in mind neither of us were crappy or using a crappy tone of voice. So he comes back to the table and is explaining to me what each item cost and that we got charged for an extra drink. I nodded and went back to what I was doing on my phone. All of a sudden here comes the cashier lady. She slams a menu down on the table and pointing hard at each item and loudly saying how much each item was. Then she goes back up to the register and asks is it gonna be cash or debit? We were not ready to pay, we just had a question about the bill… So needless to say, we were treated like crap because we questioned our bill and in fact were overcharged. We will not be back. Delphi has lost my business. Stone House was my favorite place to eat, but thanks to a very rude cashier they have lost my business.

Wonderful lunch at an adorable place. The fresh made bread on the sandwiches really closed the deal for us. We will go back.

Walked through the humongous doors of the registered historic building into a friendly atmosphere. We sat at a red oilclothed table with a view of the amazing ornate mirror behind the counter. The food was delicious and served promptly. We will return to try the pies.

Had a good visit, staff was friendly, food was large servings and good. Kids loved picking something out from bakery for dessert.

The Stone House is a great place for some traditional Hoosier cooking. They have daily specials and an enticing selection of pies. It’s right in the heart of historic Delphi.

From Chicago visiting West Lafayette and did a ladies day in Delphi at Canal Park and then went to Stone House for lunch. What a charming place and great food. We were greeted, seated and ordered promptly right at noon on a Saturday and then served delicious grilled cheese sandwich, BLT sandwich and the ham and potato skillet. The bakery goods are too good to miss! We had a wonderful server and just a great atmosphere for the day outing. Thanks!

Delicious home cookin’! I love this place. Everyone knows that person in their life that they say is the best cook ever and this place brings that same taste. I love their homemade breads and the sandwiches they make from them. Of course they are REALLY busy at lunch time so prepare to wait a little bit. Definitely recommended!

I just stopped in for some pie. The peachy rhubarb was stellar(1st time I’ve had that combo) and the raspberry was good. Fun, unique, casual atmosphere. Nice staff.

This place is AMAZING. Someone who worked at an antique store in Monticello told us about it, and he used the word«Amish» somewhere in there… not sure if that’s entirely true, but I’ve been to a few Amish restaurants, and they’re always really good… so we drove down to Delphi to give it a try for dinner! Now, growing up in Lafayette, you’d think I would have heard about this place, but I must not be talking to the right people, y’all. Time to get some new friends! :) This place is your basic store front restaurant… typical for small town downtown areas. But don’t let the common exterior, or the décor of the interior, fool you. Find yourself a seat, if you can, and your server will take good care of you! You’re about to have some of the most delicious, home cooked food that you can imagine! The man got an iced tea, and I got a Coke. From there, he ordered a hamburger steak with grilled onions, and onion rings. Yeah, haha. :) I got a grilled chicken breast, and a baked potato. We both had salads. I am pretty darn sure that the Ranch dressing was made in-house. It was so good. The salad was basic, just iceberg lettuce, onions, and a tomato wedge… it was fresh and crunchy! Wait, did I forget to mention THEROLLS? Oh, holy cow… the rolls. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I took a bite. Yummiest dinner rolls ever. The baked potato was perfect, the grilled chicken was a tiny bit overcooked, and a little blackened in parts, but the flavor and moistness of the inside made up for it. The onion rings were awesome… the onions were tender, but the outside was crisp… how do they DO that? :) The man loved his hamburger steak too. THEN, we ordered some pie. We really didn’t need to, but I didn’t want to miss it. There is a little board by the door that lists the day’s special, as well as the pie flavors available. We got Blackberry. It was gone in about 2 minutes. Perfect homemade crust, sugar on top, a nice thick filling… not too many seeds. Just wonderful. This is one of those places that, as soon as you leave, you’re already looking forward to the next time you get to eat there. The service was great, the price was outstandingly cheap for the quality and quantity of food, and I was so happily stuffed when we left. I wish I could have justified buying some baked goods to take with us, but I was already pushing it with my diet. :) Please go visit this place… there aren’t many places like it left, and this one is definitely worth your time! Comfort food at its best! :)

My hubs and I took a quick day trip to Delphi for some antiquing and to check out the Wabash-Erie Canal museum. Stone House was recommended by a colleague, and we were SO pleased with our lunch! I can’t add much more to what the other reviewers have said, other than it was absolutely delicious home cooking, with super fast service. Courteous service at it’s best, we were treated like part of the family. Didn’t have time to try any pie or cookies, but we will next time. We were equally as thrilled with their prices, especially for the lunch special. Hearty servings, drink included — can’t beat it. I will be taking out-of-town visitors to Stone House whenever possible!

We just had lunch at the Stone House and it was great, as usual. Today it was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, a homemade roll, and drink all for $ 6.75. They have good iced tea and coffee and fountain Coke products. Though they have a full menu, there is a menu board by the front door with the days specials, sandwich and soup of the day, and the day’s pies listed. Today there were nine pies: custard, banana, blueberry, blackberry, apple, raspberry, cherry, sugar cream, and sugar-free cherry. In the counter by the cash register they had the usual massive array of homemade cookies, twelve varieties! Unfortunately we were to stuffed to sample the pie and cookies, though you can buy baked goods to go. They have a lunch special every day of the week. This is the lineup: M — Meatloaf T — Chicken Noodle W — Baked Steak T — Beef Pot Roast F — Country Fried Chicken There is seating on the main floor and on a mezzanine level above, a fountain-type counter with stools, as well as maybe another one or two rooms in the back. The feeling is friendly and informal, you will feel cozy and welcome. These gals have been doing their food and bakery thing for a while and just keeps on being consistently good. This is their best location ever, with a building that enhances the feeling of the meal. Great atmosphere, great eats, great value!

When passing through Delphi, be sure and stop at the Stone House Restaurant. You’ll be glad you did. This is home cooking at its best. Comfort food like homemade cookies, bread and pie. They also make some of the best country gravy I’ve ever tasted. Smooth, creamy, with the perfect amount of peppery seasoning, I initially ordered the gravy on the side. Soon, I drenched the homemade toast and hash browns to soak up every delicious drop! I was transported back to my childhood remembering my Nana’s country gravy which I’d eat with white bread. My honey had the special, chicken fried chicken breast with succotash, mashed potatoes with country gravy and homemade dinner roll. He pronounced it yummy. For $ 6.50 which included a drink, this a bargain! As you may guessed already, baking is big at the Stone House. Before departing, we bought a dozen homemade cookies for $ 5.75. Snickerdoodles, butterscotch, sugar and chocolate cookies. Mmmmm… melt in your mouth good. They have pies too. One I’d never heard of before. sugar cream. I’m tempted to order a piece just to try it. Service at the Stone House is friendly and attentive. You feel like you’re visiting friends who are glad you stopped by to visit. We’ll be heading back through Delphi tomorrow. We’ll be sure and stop at the Stone House for more baked goodies and yes, country gravy with toast. My mouth is already watering.
