Extremely rude customer service.
Maybe the store is understaffed, or maybe you have inefficient employees. From a customer standpoint, when all you see is ALL of the cashiers giggling and socializing it is not a very good impression.
Then you walk into an active check out line and the cashier rudely says, «I’m closed» at the same time sticking his hand toward my face as a stop sign. Then as I walk away he mocks me to his bagger, pointing at the lane sign and how it is turned off. Well lane 6 next to you also had no light on, and was active. In my experience when a lane is closed, most markets have a sign at the end of he belt saying they are closed.
On the other there was my cashier Noe who was very professional and polite. 5 stars for him; quick and efficient.
As for the store it was clean and organized. Prices are decent, though Costco beats their prices which may or may not be a comparison for all. Their ribeye is $ 14.99/lb vs $ 9.99/lb which is somewhat significant.
Bottom line, they are a great convenience with their location and hours. Though if I had the option, I will shop elsewhere.

PSA: check your grocery receipts from Safeway. I’ve been overcharged three times in the past 3 months at our local Safeway here in Del Rey Oaks, CA. First time, I was charged almost $ 15 for a cake I didn’t even buy through the self check out line. I was driving away and thought, the total cost can’t be right. I then had my wife peruse the receipt, and we eventually caught the mistake. It was pretty non-​descript and near the top of the receipt. I had to turn all the way back to the store to get this error fixed.
Just recently, I was charged 12 bucks for six pack of beer that was supposedly on sale for $ 8. I would have never bought the beer at 12 bucks since there are much better options at that price. It was a new beer item that I decided to take a chance on. I decided to check my receipt at home, and noticed this pricing error. I had to go all the way back to the store next day for them to give me a damn $ 5 refund. They went and double checked the price on the counter, and it was still valid and they honestly don’t know why I was charged at the normal price. Regardless, I had to call the corporate office to complain about this, and they are now offering a $ 5 gift card for my hassles. I mean, really, 3x in 3 months is insane, and although it may be bad luck, I think it’s worth more than $ 5.
So, to all you Safeway shoppers, make sure you are checking your receipts!

This review is for the floral and cake departments! We used this Safeway for our Wedding on 03/​26/​2016. It was very close to our venue! We had a small wedding of under 40 guests and wanted simple flowers and a small simple cake for cutting! I chose tulips and snapdragons for our flower arrangements. The cake and flowers came out amazing! We couldn’t have been happier! We ordered cake, brides bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, grooms boutonnière, and 4 boutonnière’s for grandfather, brothers and father. We also ordered corsages for the grandmas and mothers. Everything really looked great! Everything was very affordable too! I highly recommend them! Photos included! Thank you to everyone in the bakery and floral department who helped make this possible for us! We greatly appreciate it!

Noey the jerk who works there harassed my girlfriend and I to the point we left the store and went shopping elsewhere. He’s a real sob. He’s a racist and a liar. He is a lowdown dirty piece of gutter scum. He’s a loser with nothing better to do than loose business because he’s a rude piece of shit.

When this Safeway opened years ago… I never liked the new big box feel of the place as compared to the smaller location they moved from (which is now InShape health club).
However…they did expand with a bakery that I have to say does a great job with their breads… and make very good Cakes.
Anyway…the one thing that has remained from the other store are the employees. I’ve seldom been somewhere with consistently friendly and helpful people. Over the years, I’ve come to know many of them on a first name basis. Truly genuine and caring people.
However what has me writing an update to my previous review is their Deli. I’ve purchased sandwiches from it before… and while always a great value… nothing overly spectacular. Good quality sandwiches. Recently, I was told about their breakfast burritos… and can’t rave enough about them! For a ridiculously cheap price… you get a grilled burrito loaded with eggs, potatoes and your choice of meat… and a house made sauce which I find tasty beyond belief! One burrito stuffs me.
Give them a try… I can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed!

Just walking up to the front of this Safeway was a welcoming experience with five picnic tables out front with umbrellas for shade. I’m already thinking it would be easy to grab something from the deli to eat out here and enjoy the moderate weather. Inside, the first thing I see is a Jamba Juice. Whaaaat? Yes, you heard me correctly. There is a Jamba Juice mini store inside this SAFEWAY just on the right side of the store as you enter near the produce aisle.
We don’t have anything this fancy back home in Bakersfield. The nearest we come is a Starbucks inside our Vons stores. Wait… there is also a Starbucks store in here, on the far left as you come in, over near the bakery. This is just getting crazy now. And there is even a Wells Fargo branch located up front in the middle of this store? This Safeway reminds me of the WalMart stores in the Midwest, you know the ones that have a Subway sandwiches, a nail salon, an eyeglass store, and anything else you can think of. This is one stop shopping at its finest.
Looking for a little entertainment tonight? Well look no further, there are two redbox dvd rental machines inside. I’m used to redbox machines OUTSIDE the store, but it’s nice that these are located inside for ease of use in cold weather or to make me feel safer after dark.
I’ve never SEEN a grocery store deli section like this in my entire life! There is a sushi bar with seats where you can not only order your sushi but sit and eat it right there. No joke! And there is a sandwich station where you can order custom sandwiches and watch them being made for you. Going gluten free? Well, just visit the salad station where, you guessed it, you can watch them custom make a sandwich for you. Don’t even get me started on the pizza station where you can purchase whole pizzas or pizzas by the slice. Seriously, it’s like there is a Subway, a Dominos, and a salad restaurant all inside this grocery store. Don’t forget eth picnic tables out front where you can enjoy your purchases.
Their produce looks and tastes fresh and the bakery department. Ohhhhhhhh… I could just move in and survive off their pastries for at least a week before they finally kicked me out. Seriously, if they built apartments on top of this Safeway I’d move in and never have to leave the building.

Kelly Grahm in the bakery is awesome ! She is very friendly has a great positive attitude every time I come in to the bakery. Always has a smile on her face and loves what she does I mean she’s been there for 15 years that tells a lot ! I will only go to safeway and through Kelly to order anything from bakery (:

Enough can not be said about how truly wonderful some of the employees at this store are… in particular miss Catherine who is a breathe of fresh air and truly treats all like family! Catherine, Rochelle, Chong, Michelle and Toni are some of the fantastic reasons I keep going back!

Very clean/​well kept Safeway!
They’re never extremely crowded and you can usually get in and out pretty quick. The customer service is on par at best (thus the 4 star).
If you’re someone like me and don’t like to push around the tank sized shopping cartswhen all you need is a few items, the small black baskets that you carry are always plentiful (look by the self-​checkout if they’re not up front).
Shop here if you’re nearby and need to get something quickly.
Associates usually know where the item is if you ask. I did call up one time to ask if they had a particular item, I even spelled it out for her and explained what section it would be near. I was on hold for a good 5 minutes when she got back to me and said that item must be popular since she was getting calls about it and that her manager said they don’t have it. I repeated my item and she again said they never had it according the manager. In dismay I went there just for my peace of my and guess what… Yup I found it. I went to the customer service and asked to speak to the manager. I showed them the item and said it was here. And if it was a popular item that the lady who answered the phone should have checked. I came within 30 minutes of the phone call and no one was restocking anything. In fact the manager said he noticed my item being delivered and stocked that morning. Thank you Noe (the manager) for listening to my rant) you were awesome!

This store is expensive. It is also very disfunctional. Items scattered in different parts of store. When it should be flowing. The people that work in store are not friendly, nor knowledgeable about what’s in add ot not in add.

I am very disappointed with the phone operating system. I was on the phone for more than thirty minutes waiting and calling again because the system would hang up on me. When I was finally able to press the department I wanted the same thing happened and when I called customer service they wouldn’t answer either. I find this unprofessional and would expect more out of a safeway

Didn’t realize that this was part of Von’s and is actually nicer than Von’s in LV. Came here for the duration of the vacation. Place was very nice and clean

I live close enough to this Safeway to walk to it, so I would come just for the convenience. But, something special about this particular location is the great customer service. I’ve always had help right when I asked for it, and the employees will even help me search up an down an aisle to find what I’m looking for. Most recently, I had a cashier named Curtis and he made my night. He was joking with me and make my CHORE of going grocery shopping fun and worth it.
Plus it is 24 hours! Perfect for myself, a college student, who likes to grab late night junk food to help me study :)

Their customer service is CRAP! Seems like every single employee hates their job! I wouldn’t go back unless I REALLY need something and try not to even make eye contact with whoever is going to ring me up. TE — RRI — BLEEEE!

Nobody even shows up to help a customer yet they claim to serve breakfast from 6 – 11. Hmmm I call false advertisement cause I’m here everyday n I’ve never once been able to get severed at 6am.
Hire workers who are competent enough to do a job efficiently. The sushi workers on the other hand are on their game! They are working hard everyday!
I’d give more stars but that would be wrong.

Everything you could need, rolled into one store!
Do you want sushi? They have a sushi counter. They’ll make it to order or there’s prepackaged sushi in a refrigerated section off to the side. For options, there’s a even brown rice rolls!
As far as taste goes, it’s one of the better grocery store sushis I’ve had. (So, edible, but not restaurant quality – though it’s a Safeway, what are you expecting?)

Let Safeway make you one in their sandwich area or make your own from the deli.

The other side of the store has a Jamba Juice.

Do you want hot food or cold food?
Other than the deli, there’s a hot food station that changes offerings and a salad bar to get you’re fixin’s on.
Aside from the usual grocery goodies, they’re also open ²⁴⁄₇! Truly one-​stop shop!

Grocery shopping is now a destination, an event.
This market is amazing. It’s huge and filled with every food item a person needs. Larger even than their Carmel (Crossroads) store.
Within is a Jamba Juice, Starbucks, sushi bar, bakery, deli, pharmacy, nice meat counter, Wells Fargo bank and very nice wine and cheese offerings.
As long as you shop wisely and use the ‘club’ card you can work around the higher Safeway prices.
Every employee I had contact with was polite and made eye contact.
The only knock and why I took away a star is because the front entrance looks shady and unappealing with oil, grease and gum stains making the walkway look like black concrete. (which is actually slightly more appealing than the Carmel store where young deadlocked homeless and their tethered pitbulls are positioned like gargoyles ²⁴⁄₇ just outside the door)
Inside the store is the complete opposite.
Sandblast those entrance ways Safeway!
