History

Established in 1995.

Right at Home was founded by Allen Hager. For many years, Allen worked as a hospital administrator where he watched patients leave the facility and return home, but not necessarily return to health. Once home, a lot of his former patients were unable to care for themselves.

Allen knew that with a little help, most of these people could lead healthy, happy lives in their own homes. But he also knew that there were very few companies that offered this kind of help.

First, he talked to dozens of families to understand the challenges they faced and what kind of care would help. Then he became a certified nursing assistant so he could experience the needs of people who were still living in their home but who needed some professional assistance.

In 1995, Allen started Right at Home in Omaha, Nebraska. Five years later, he started branching into other regions of the country by carefully selecting those who shared his passion for caring for those in their community.

Matt Field was born and raised in the community he now serves. A native to the area, Matt left suburban Chicago nearly 20 years ago, ultimately pursuing a career as a congregational rabbi in New York. In this capacity, Matt was intimately involved in the lives of families and individuals as they navigated through life’s transitions. After a decade of professional fulfillment in which he confronted the rapidly aging demographics of our population on a daily basis and witnessed the rising need for at home assistance, Matt was set on making a career change that would focus not on the spiritual, but on the physical and emotional demands of individuals and families during life’s moments of vulnerability. Matt was impressed with the Right at Home business model and he was drawn to the integrity and compassion of the Right at Home at Home team. Returning to North Suburban Chicago after living in New York for almost 20 years, Matt feels right at home.
