Good option when you need a doctor but cannot get in with your regular physician. My husband and I both use the Urgent Care facility from time to time and we always receive the attention and help that we need. Sometimes there is a wait, but it’s worth it to just show up and see a doctor. The doctors all seem very knowledgable and helpful.

Having taken my daughter to the Highland Park Hospital ER just a few weeks ago for a broken finger, and then receiving a $ 1500+ bill(after insurance! our deductible is $ 1500) I did some research and was thoroughly surprised to find that had I taken her to an urgent care clinic, my bill would have been the $ 20 copay. Yesterday I happened to fall pretty hard and had a swollen ankle which was killing me all evening. Though it was better in the morning, I decided to be safe and make a trip to the Northwestern Medicine’s Urgent Care clinic in Deerfield. From the receptionist to the two nurse/technicians(Emily and Paige) and Dr. Gershon I had what was the best medical experience I’ve ever had. They were so courteous, kind, professional, caring, efficient and warm. I was out of there in less than an hour with a confirmed broken ankle, including all of the paperwork/x-rays/consult/temporary cast and even a tutorial on how to use my new crutches. If all medical experiences were like this, I’d be so much happier with the healthcare system in the US. I cannot recommend this place enough and though I do not wish to have to return, I sure will if there is ever a need in the future.

My little drama queen got her first splinter at the park this past weekend. She refused to let me come near her with a pair of tweezers(can’t say I blame her) and our Dr office was closed on Saturday evening. I did a bit of research and noticed Northwestern’s nearby clinic was open til 8pm. I threw my pajama clad 4 yr old daughter into the car and made our way over there with just about 20 minutes until they closed. We were the only people there, which made me happy. A) no germs around! B) No wait! We were the only people in the clinic so after a few questions from the receptionist we were greeted by 2 very friendly nurses. I apologized profusely for taking up their time for something as minor as a splinter, but they assured me they’ve seen many splinters. Dr Gershon took a look at the splinter and let me know that it was so deep that he’d have to make an incision. Yikes! Of course my daughter then freaked out… to the point where it took 2 nurses, myself & a straightjacket(yes a straightjacket) to hold her down. I asked Dr Gershon if it would«H-U-R-T?» His response was a lot! Double yikes! I don’t think it was painless from her reaction, but at least it was quick. And the tears stopped as soon as the nurses rushed in with frozen stickers(they guessed my daughter was a fan thanks to her frozen PJs) and the receptionist offered a lollipop on our way out. Stickers and lollipops cure all! Ideally I’d like to take my kids to a pediatrician when something happens, but for those times when the pediatrician’s office is closed this works. And I’d definitely go back for myself, although hopefully not any time soon.
