Still great food, but the prices went up a lot over the years. I remember when they open everything was $ 8-$ 10, churrasco was the most expensive at $ 10.99 now it is $ 16.99. So short note to the owners: stop changing menus with always higher prices and smaller portions! Or soon people won’t be able to afford Sunday lunch. It used to be a good value, but now it is getting close to 5 star restaurant in Boca. Hello! This is a Latin restaurant in Deerfield :-)

Do not go to this restaurant unless you speak spanish. You will be discriminated against. I placed an order online and went to pick it up and first they couldn’t find my order so I had to wait 20 more minutes. And secondally, I asked to order a slice of flan and the lady behind the cash register told me they do not sell flan. So while I was waiting for my order I went back on their website and under desserts there is flan listed there. Well needless to say, I was discriminated against because I didn’t speak Spanish. Clearly they were selling flan as it was in the refrigerator behind the counter serving to customers. I will not be going back to this restaurant and would not recommend this to anyone regardless if they speak Spanish or not. No one deserves to be treated that way.

The food in this Colombian restaurant is pretty decent! They offer a different meal everyday for reasonable price. They offer Colombian beer, soups, salads and coffee. This place offers live music on weekends. People dance while eating. This is one of the many locations they have. My advice for someone who has never been in a Latin or Colombian restaurant is to come in for a breakfast. It is good, affordable, and different.(In a good way!)

I had the arroz con pollo and tostones with guacamole. Decently satisfying overall. It wasn’t enough to win me over for a weekly visit but I’ll definitely come back and try something else. The cheesecake was great btw.

I work in he area and I’m always looking for a quick, filling bite to eat. This place served me promptly and the food was hot. I have eaten there a few time and the ny strip steak and the Cubano are tied for #1 in my book. Definately a must eat

Let me start with the service. It was great! Our server was attentive and even when he was not around, other servers were checking on us to make sure we were ok. Now, the food. We ordered empanadas and tostones with guacamole. Empanadas were ok, too much potato for my taste, not much meat. Tostones were too thick, a bit soft. Not crunchy as they usually are. For the meal, I had the Cazuela de Mariscos. It was the worst Cazuela I ever had anywhere, I could not eat it. I have to say the server asked how was it and when said I didn’t like it, he offered to bring something else. Unfortunately, by that time my appetite was gone and I just decided not to get anything else. I was very disappointed with this visit as I expected better food. They only reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of one is because of the server, who was very good the whole time.

Friendly staff. Great café con leche, amazing Cuban sandwich with French fries on the side, best I have ever had! We also had the platter everyone mentioned on Unilocal with the steak and egg it was good to try a bunch of their food. I loved the beans that came with it. The green sauce on the table was delish. When we come back I want to get the Cuban and fries again and try the lomo sataldo and the ceviche maybe :)

I don’t get the name. There wasn’t a balcony that I could see. It was only a 1 story building… Ok, that’s where the critical part stops. This place is a must!(There is outside«patio» seating, but no balcony. :)) We were recommended this restaurant by some trustworthy family so we knew it was going to be good, but I did really dig the Columbian cuisine. My Wife ordered the red snapper. Besides the impressive presentation the fish was scored evenly across so all the oil could sear the filets of the fish. It was seasoned very well and had a nice crunch. I thought the bones would be a problem but we only had one pone to pick out and that was it. I would order that myself next time. I had the Bandeja Paisa. Afterall it’s labeled«The best dish of Columbia» but regardless, who wouldn’t want a variety of meats and sides on one plate? The skirt steak was tender, maybe a little under seasoned, but still very good. The fried pork belly/skin was delicious. A little chewy but I think that’s the point so it’s overlooked and was delicious. All the entrees aside one of the best part were the pastries. We didn’t even order dessert, but when we were leaving I spotted the pastries in a display. I love dulce de leche or Cajete carmel desserts. So we got some to go and they were soooo good. Definitely get some, you won’t be disappointed.

Great restaurant with exceptional Columbian offerings and a very pleasant staff. Most dishes are very authentic and full of flavor. They offer traditional Columbian sodas and desserts as well.

My roommate asked if a friend and I wanted to go get some Columbian food one night and recommended we go to El Balcon. She has been several times and said the food was really good, and it is! The location is big and they have a lot of seating inside and outside in these cute tables(weather permitting obviously). My initial thought was that this place would be a great restaurant to do a UYE. Maybe after the holidays ;P It was a slow rainy Wednesday so getting a table was easy. I ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade and I highly recommend it if you like lemonade as much as I do. We started with the Patacon con Guacamole(Fried green plantains served with fresh guacamole) super delicious and the plantains were cooked perfectly not overly crispy or hard to eat. My friend ordered the Pollo con Salsa de Cilantro for her meal. Its grilled chicken breast with broccoli, mashed potatoes, roasted corn topped with melted cheese, and mixed with their homemade cilantro sauce. She really seemed to like it. My roommate and I opted to go big and try their Bandeja Paisa(apparently a very popular Columbian dish) and my roommate vouched for it being a really great meal so I tried it. It comes with flat grilled steak with a fried egg on top, plus a strip of fried pork belly, chorizo, avocado, plantains and a bowl of rice and Colombian style beans. WOW! Absolutley amazing and so much food I had another meal to take home with me for the next day. The beans and rice were so good I almost finished them first! Definitely worth trying especially if you are really hungry! I am now super hungry after writing this review lol and can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. Side note: The chimichurri and the hot sauce type topping on the table were amazing and really added to the flavor of the meal so make sure to try them!

They have Colombian food at its best here, everything is home made and the portions are big, the ‘bandeja paisa’ is huge and delicious with all of the different foods it comes with, chorizo, avocado, rice, sweet plantains, red beans, steak and a gigantic piece of fried pork, definitely not for the dieters! Lol :-)

THEPLACE Both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is cover, so does provide both shade and rain cover. For a northern boy, Sept is still way too hot for me, so opted to sit inside. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm. The patrons were all Spanish speaking, which to me, is usually a good sign when the people match the food. THESERVICE Although they were very busy, they were adequately staffed to handle it. There were two different people that waited on us and took our order. At first, I was worried that the order would be messed up, but the order came as we ordered. The wait staff were friendly and helped answer questions. I didn’t see Empanadas on the menu, but when I asked I was told they have beef or chicken. The only downfall to the service, is that it took a really long time to get the check when we finished. I asked 4 people for the check before it came. This is a pet peeve of mine, so won’t ding them on stars for that. When I am done eating, I want to promptly pack up my leftovers, get my check and head out. THEFOOD We started off by getting a Soursop Juice and Fresh Lemonade. The server asked if I wanted the juice with water or milk. Since I had no earthly idea, I had him choose, which ended up being milk. Very tasty, and I wanted to drink 5 more of them, but didn’t. Tried some Arepitas«Paisas» Con Guacamole y Hogao for an appetizer. Never had this style Arepa before, it was good. The Guacamole was very good and seemed like it was prepared fresh. My main course was Chuleta Calena, which is a thinly pounded pork tenderloin that is breaded and fried. It had a nice flavor with hints of lime. The pork was good perfectly and was moist and tender. This plate comes with a salad, rice and red beans. The salad was a little sad. The red beans were tasty. My daughter just wanted to eat Empanadas for her meal, and she ordered 4 of beef empanadas. They were a pretty good size and she was only able to down 2 after sharing the Arepitas appetizer. The Empanadas were nice and hot and very flavorful. But after she tried my meal, so asked if we could come back so she could order the Chuleta Calena. SUMMARY Nice place, good food. Didn’t feel out of place being the only non-Spanish speakers there. Both the restaurant and the staff are welcoming to all. I am sure I will be back to try some other things on the menu.

Heads up: They don’t have a full bar here, just wine and beer. The environment was cozy and they have outside seating. English isn’t the first language of some of the waitstaff and English is our only language so our order was incorrect but nothing awful. The customer service was very good. We tried two different kinds of fried plantains and empandas. They offered a veggie quesadilla for a vegetarian option which was really yummy. My friend had the Arroz con Pollo which came with a salad and fries. I really like all the options they have for side dishes. It was pretty inexpensive too, our bill only came to $ 30. Recommended!

This location is fancier than the other one on 441 that I’m use to going to. I went on a Thursday night. The steak quesadillas we ordered off the appetizers wasn’t anything special. Definitely something you can make yourself. I do love their lomo saltado but more frequently they are overcooking the beef. My partner also ordered the chimichurri steak medium rare. It came out well done. Flavor is there, just need to perhaps order a rarer intention.

I’ve been here inumerous times and I cannot think why haven’t I ever written about them before? I’m an usual customer for lunch at this Colombian restaurant because they are close to my work and they are fast! At lunch time is of the essence and so you need to get in and out with no stress. At least I do. I will not go back to eat at a place that does not make me feel relaxed during my lunch hour as I have enough stress at work and I need nothing but a break from it! Well they are good at it, and their food is off the chain. Their rice and beans are almost like my mom’s! I’ve already tried most of their dishes, and so far they were all delicious! Their fried yucca is always crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their salads have a refreshing seasoning, and their Lechon, lomo salteado, pollo, and fish are also delicious. They also have empanadas, pan de bono, sweet bread, alfajore… They have a small selection of beers, Colombian sodas and juices with local Colombian fruits. Their special of the day is worth asking for because it comes with salad or soup and the main dish at a great price. Their servers are always fast and very helpful. This is indeed a restaurant that I will be visiting very often!

After being on my radar for 2 yrs I finally stopped into el balcon. This colombian joint is very casual. A few tables inside and a few outside. Tvs are up showing news stations. CNN in both English and in Spanish. To eat I had the lechon asado. Which was shredded pork with rice, 3 pieces of crispy yucca, and a small salad, The food was amazing. The pork was flavored perfectly. The table had a couple of spicy sauces and i used some on my yucca. Delicious and inexpensive, about 10 bucks for the meal. My friend ordered a dulce de Leche pastry for dessert but wasn’t crazy for it. Solid place and I feel like I’ll be visiting often!

It’s nice to know, that not matter how busy this restaurant is, they still have a great quality menu. Never get disappointed with what ever you pick it’s always tasty. Service it’s great, they are preoccupied, they want to know if you are satisfied, that means a lot. Prices are very reasonable and portions are adequate.
