Verde Wine Bar and Ristorante

I went here for my anniversary dinner with my husband and everything was stellar. The service was fantastic. So attentive but not annoying, knowledgable and nice. The food was delicious. We had the the pulled chicken arancini, then the rye gnocchi and the mafaldine. I can’t even describe how great everything was. We topped it off like little piggies with a brownie/​cookie delicious thing. Everything was superb from start to finish. For my husband and I, who don’t get to have nice restaurant meals out that much it was so enjoyable to have a dinner that was delicious and memorable.

We have been to Verdes many times. We have never been disappointed in the food, service and atmosphere. My favorite, among many, is the Cavattelii Bolognese. Also love the Clam appetizer. Highly recommend Verdes.

Perfect spot for some cocktails and apps after shopping! Within 2 minutes from Tanger. Sat down immediately on a Friday night and had a chilled bottle of Pinot Gris in front of me within minutes :) what more could a girl want .
Started with the meat & cheese board — 2 burrata (creamy deliciousness), parm & chorizo. It came with honey, eggplant caponata, chocolate, pickled vegetables, and olives on the side. After that shared the meatballs with ricotta in a tomato sauce (AAAAAmazing), and pulled chicken arancini (nice twist on your classic rice ball). More than enough food for two people.
Finished with some cappucinos and coffee panna cotta for dessert… Perfect for a coffee lover craving something sweet.
The food was delicious and the service was great. Environment is a chill rustic wine bar kinda feel with a nice large bar in the front to eat and/​or drink at both before and after. Definitely will be my go-​to post shopping trip place from now on!

What a really pleasant surprise in an odd location … Everything was wonderful from the cocktails to the waitstaff to the gracious and attentive owner to the starters thru desserts!
I had the best Negroni ever — our Arancini were delicious and filling … The cioppino was full of fresh tasty seafood in a delicate yet savory broth. We finished w a blueberry port and mango semifreddo!

This place is a hidden gem! Tucked in a corner across from the Tanger outlet, hard to find but packed inside! The food is delicious and so fresh, the service is knowledgeable and super friendly and the restaurant is decorated nicely and incredibly clean. We came here for a family members birthday and will absolutely be back!

Had another pasta/​bolognese craving, but magically and inexplicably I somehow didn’t order the bolognese!
I really wanted the Cavatelli Bolognese but I wanted to branch out. Just kidding (not really), I’m definitely getting that next time ;)
SALAD — All entrees come with salad and I was very surprised. The lettuce was crisp, the croutons weren’t too hard, the bowl was chilled so everything stayed taut throughout the meal, and there was some potent balsamic-​olive oil but it wasn’t overdressed. I’m not usually a fan of these ‘tease’ salads but I really enjoyed the simplicity and tastiness of this one
RYE GNOCCHI (Subs. linguine) $ 24 — I was really craving fresh-​cut long pasta, and I wanted something lighter than gnocchi so I asked the waiter to substitute it for their fresh hand-​cut linguine. The waiter went to the kitchen and asked Chef James Ahearn. He came back and earnestly said that Chef James wouldn’t recommend it because the texture would be messed up, but if I insisted he would happily accommodate me. Well. I insisted! THE cajones! I thought the dish was excellent, but Chef James may have been right in that gnocchi may have been better texture-​wise. The duck confit was a little dry though, but still had decent flavor. The hand-​cut linguine is no joke, you can tell it was made to order, but it was a tad overdone/​mushy. The real star… was the ASPARAGUS (You’re like, WHAT??). Yes, Seriously, this was, the best asparagus I’ve ever had in my life. They were cut in little chunks but they were so crunchy (blanched, shocked maybe?). Whatever cooking method, this asparagus gave the dish such heartiness. The dish was also topped with fried, crispy strings of asparagus I believe, gave it some extra texture
WINE — Being a wine bar, I felt it apt to order a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir ($ 15) with my meal and it was velvety smooth and robust. Complemented the duck confit nicely, but I would recommend a white wine in hindsight with the flavor profile of the dish (lemon, asparagus), but that Oregon Pinot Noir was one of the best pinots I’ve had in a long time.
Very convenient location right across the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park, great before/​after a day of shopping, shares its parking lot with Zombie Paintball lol

Very Manhattan-​like place. Nothing like it in the area. Deer Park is capital of the fast-​food, and here, hidden we found this really nice restaurant. Amazing service, very clean, just a different level.
We had a Vodka drink that had some honey, a taste of lemon and something else in it, came with foam at the top was like a sweet & sour vodka shake absolutely delicious!
For Starters we had the Italian style Calamari also amazing!!!
The main dishes were less amazing but still very good salmon with lentils and beets was ok not amazing, and cavatelli was also good. All in all a great experience will 100% go there often.

Had my first visit to Verde and I absolutely loved it. The ambiance was pretty and felt very fancy, but comfortable at the same time. The service was incredible; you can tell all of the wait staff is properly trained. My husband and I split the pulled chicken arancini appetizer– it was really good. I had the short rib entrée, incredible. I took half home to save room for dessert. We had the ‘chocolate’ which was chocolate pudding with chocolate mousse, chocolate crumble, etc. It was little, but very rich. Also had a few glasses of wine. Overall great experience and reasonably priced. Will return; I want to try a meat and cheese board with some burrata.
Oh! And the bread basket with warm focaccia– deliciousss

I rarely make it out of Manhattan, but this was a trip well worth the time. Grateful to have tried the amazing food and experienced the atmosphere.
Dining here was such a great experience for a few reasons. First of all, hands down some awesome food. We ordered the hamachi, linguine, and salmon, all of which were amazing. The hamachi was fresh, and the tart and sweet and savory flavors of the fennel, radishes and ghost peppers really did blend well together. The hand cut linguine had a wonderful texture and a very satisfying, home style flavor. Meanwhile, the salmon was of the perfect crispness, and I absolutely loved the beet juice topping. Unique and delicious.
Perhaps what I loved the most of the general atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and seemed to really have a good time together. The culture was incredible, and the staff worked together as if they were family.
And should I mention that they have a great selection of alcohol, cocktails, and whiskey?
Today is one of the days when I’m so grateful I was dragged out of Manhattan. You can’t find this type of restaurant in the city — there’s a sense of deep passion and home style that I think is desperately missing from the city.
Long Island is lucky to have Verde.

First… service was amazing. Not only was the server, Rob, awesome, but the owner himself walks around pouring water, wine, offering advice, etc. Second, if you’re a foodie this is the place for you. Menu is interesting and high quality, and the wine menu is extensive as well. The atmosphere is great and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. I can’t wait to come back!

The service was fantastic. The food was awesome. The ambience is great. The parking is ample. The location kind of sucks.
This was such a great experience. Owners waiters great. Water was filled always.

A gem in Deer Park. Albeit oddly placed sharing a parking lot with airsoft paintball & zombie laser tag still an excellent restaurant. Has an old world/​upscale/​neo vibe with great food and even better wine. Awesome for a night out or just catching up with friends. I’m a fan !!

I can’t believe I waited this long to try Verde, but I’m so glad I did!!! My boyfriend and I came last night for dinner to celebrate a Valentine’s Day early. We made 8pm reservations via Open Table. The space is charming with a modern American feel. We started with drinks at the bar which were pricy ($ 12 a pop), but well worth it. The mixologists behind the bar are well versed and whip up some crafty cocktails.
For dinner we sat in the dining room and tried a plethora of yummy food. Dinner started off with a variety of bread and olive oil, garlic & Parmesan cheese in a bowl for dipping which was out of this world delicious… I could seriously bathe in this stuff it’s THAT. DAMN. GOOD. Everything else we tried was flavorful and fresh, pics to follow.
All their items come from local farms and many wines come from Long Island as well. Our server, Kevin, was fantastic, and other servers kept coming over to refill our water, ask how we were doing, etc. throughout the night which was very nice. Throughout the night my bf kept saying «this is definitely my favorite restaurant that we’ve been to», so you know we’ll be back!

I SO wanted to love this place, being close to home & work and finally had the chance to explore this place with co-​workers for my VP’s 50^th b-​day. Specializing in American wines and clever mixology, this place is quite cute for being located across from the Tanger outlet mall and next to Zombieland. A little weird walking in under curtains, but I guess you have to do something with that factory feel to the place, and well I will say that I did forget that aspect. Kudos on the dark modern feeling bar… but I digress…
My company president was impressed with the place at first, then when he got the bill for 2 drinks each and a meat & cheese platter for the 6 of us, his jaw hit the floor! OUCH!
While the pours of wine were nice, the price charged ($ 9) is quite crazy when the bottle of wine I was drinking only costs 14 bucks at the vineyard out east! Crazy mark-​up!
What really killed me is that we were the ONLY ones at the bar after work, 6 adults, all coworkers, out for a 50^th birthday and the bartender did NOTHING to make this birthday seem at all special. So much for this place becoming a new happy hour spot!!!
Days later we are still all talking about it in the office… wondering if we will ever go back and find out about that Thursday night date special, since even that seemed pricey.

Saturday night we celebrated our anniversary at Verde. To generalize, the food is excellent, the presentation of the food shows great care and the service is beyond excellent. In fact, I love that the owner is on-​site and paying attention to every detail. If there is any negative, and this is nitpicking but it’s important to review everything, the building that Verde is located in is sort of a semi-​warehouse and the décor inside is a little too dark, and the entries on the voluminous menu a little too small making reading a challenge. I would recommend reviewing the menu on-​line before you go. But 4-​stars is clearly called for as when I circle back to the food it’s a happy story indeed.
They begin the journey with wonderful fresh warm bread basket, a combination of traditional Italian and a sort of pizza-​foccacia bread, served with a perfect olive oil infused with herbs and garlic. This was followed by a fresh lettuce and tomato salad with just a few briny olives and lightly dressed, not soaked in dressing.
Then a curious, wonderful thing happens. One of the wait staff presents a salt tray with 4 salt variations; white kosher salt, pink sea salt, herbs d’Provence salt and black ash salt. The salts are recommended for various dishes. For instance the pink sea salt is recommended for seafood dishes. What a neat idea!
My son ordered the Cioppini, a chock-​full-​of-​seafood collection of calamari, scallops, clams, cod, a spicy chorizo sausage and a giant prawn the size of a road flare with a couple pieces of perfect Italian toast in a tomato-​based broth (see picture). This is a presentation you rarely see on Long Island. He loved it even though at 15-​years old he is not a big fan of tomato-​based dishes.
My wife ordered their Burger, a terrific blend of short rib and brisket served with ketchup, shallots and sweet pork belly (see picture). The bun is a soft air-​filled pillow of freshness that allows you to taste the meat and fully enjoy the combinations of flavors. Too often the bun overwhelms the burger. Not so at Verde.
I ordered the Greater Omaha Short Rib, which could very well be the signature dish of Verde (see picture). It’s a perfectly cooked horizontal monolith of short rib combined with a salty eggplant caponata over the most unusual truffled fingerling potatoes and a side of mascarpone crème fraîche that soaked in the sauce from the beef and became a tangy gravy inside the serving bowl. This is really a wonderfully composed dish that hits all the right notes and delivers enough beef to satisfy a healthy appetite.
I enjoyed a biting Dark & Stormy cocktail with the meal which had a wonderful zing to it delivered by the addition of angostura bitters and a ginger beer brand that was completely new to me (see picture). The cocktail was served in a 16 – 18 ounce glass which was more than enough to cover the meal.
For dessert we shared the almond cake with hazelnut ice cream. The flavor was nice but it was a little difficult to arrange bites with all the flavors without destroying the delicate almond cake.
I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t circle back to the service. Our waiter Rob was enthusiastic and attentive. As well the restaurant simply has an army of wait/​bus/​help staff that constantly circles the floor making sure every patron has what they need. And as I mentioned, the owner is also on the floor every minute and makes sure to visit every table. I simply love that. He is not going to leave the success of the restaurant to others and hope it goes well. And we definitely enjoyed ourselves.

This review needs an R&R (Revisit& Revise!) I’ve been here a multitude of times since my last review which is why I would like to extend my thoughts… This place is really something… It has vastly improved since the initial review. Not even just one thing, but the place in its entirety.
Walk in to this awesome, quaint, rustic bar area where it’s likely you will make friends. The bartenders at this bar are extremely skilled and knowledgeable about the drinks and you can tell they are passionate about making them. That being said, it is more than likely you will make friends after a few of these strong drinks as the bar is more than intimate. It’s a perfect atmosphere in here, there are a few high top tables on one side of the bar and a smaller lounge area with two couches and a table, it is quite nice…
The dining room is a separate area and they also have an additional room for larger parties which has been full almost every time I’ve been there.
I have had multiple apps and entrees from this eclectic menu that Chef James Ahearn has created. Favorites of mine include: the meatballs, pulled chicken arancini, the burrata cheese, good old fashioned chicken parm and as of late, the smoked pizzette… This has been my «go to» since it’s perfect for sharing. The smoked pizzette is made with smoked Gouda, pepperoni and honey! Bursting with flavor, I highly recommend it.
The staff are more than willing to meet your every need as they check in on you frequently which is what you would expect almost always when dining out but may not occur… In here, expectations will be exceeded. The owner, Anthony, real nice guy will walk around and make his rounds making sure your experience is as elevated as it should be.
You need to come here! I only see good things for this place…

My boss gifted our department to this place without any VP’s invited so we can feel at ease and enjoy a meal and wine.

I had the eggplant dish, but I wish I took the salmon entrée instead. my co worker gave me a piece and it was so moist and juicy! ahh so good. but overall my eggplant entrée was still good.
I didn’t drink any of the wine because I am not a wine person but I was able to try some of their beers.

First off, I would like to compliment our waiter on his excellent service, but now I cannot remember if his name is Patrick or Michael, or neither of the above. All the ancillary staff were also very attentive and helpful.
To start for drinks, I had the McKenzie, while my friend had the White Dog. Both were very delicious and seriously just tasted like fall. The McKenzie was very refreshing and light, while the White Dog was creamy and heavy.
We were brought delicious warm seasoned bread with olive oil and 4 different kinds of salt (sea salt, herb salt, hawaiian pink, and … a black one), as well as side salad for the table. The side salad was a little heavy on the acid and dressing, but I tend to like my salads with very little dressing.
For our main course, I had the Ricotta Gnocchi, which was perfectly dense and fluffy all at the same time. I found it to be very flavorful but a little too salty. My friend had that short ribs, which were fork tender and flaky.
For dessert we went with the gluten free chocolate cake, which had the consistency of an undercooked brownie and was not too sweet. The yogurt gelato was a little frostbitten and was more like sorbet in texture.
In all, I think the service was top notch and the food was good. I will definitely return for more cocktails (Happy Hour 4 – 7 weekdays!) and to sample more menu items.

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT. My introduction to this place was at the LI Beef Battle where I had at that time the best ravioli I had ever had until I went a couple of weeks ago and had the best ravioli I have ever had. It had goat cheese people actual goat cheese and kale and cranberries. It was in a butter sauce that was beyond good. The same night I also ordered the chicken Parm. The pasta and sauce was fantastic but the chicken was not good at all.
When I arrived my order was not ready so I sat at the bar and Anthony asked me if I wanted a drink and if nothing else a water at least. Little did he know who he was dealing with lol. I told him I wanted a Manhattan and he proceeded to give me a menu of different Manhattans to order. I was in heaven and Anthony made the second best manhattan I have ever had so that was amazing. I have since been back and I recommend the spaghetti and meatballs.
All said and done excellent.

Delicious American restaurant! Tried a bunch of things during my visit with my boyfriend and his mom. We had the oysters, calamari which was really good and the salad and bread was complementary. The rice balls were extremely good and worth getting as an appetizer. The chicken dish I ordered was super tender and full of flavor. The pasta dish my boyfriend ordered was good but I forgot the name of it. The short ribs his mom ordered were also very yummy. Customer service was good so I can’t complain! The cannoli dessert was amazing!!! You must try it.
