Keldara Salon and Spa

I had given Keldara a 5 star review in the past. But I need to update my rating based on today’s experience.
I went to the salon for a color touch-​up. The color application was just fine. After it processed someone different took me for my shampoo. When she was finished she said, «I guess you’re going to the blow dry station now?» She dropped me off at an empty station in the corner of the salon where I was meant to brush out and blow dry my own hair. She pointed to the drawers and told me I would find dryers, brushes and product and then she walked away. There were only round brushes, nothing to brush my hair out with and no one to ask for help since the «blow dry station» is in an unused corner of the salon away from everything else. I ended up just taking off the cape and going to pay. I went home with a soaking wet shirt and soaking wet hair that was full of knots.
I had seen online that a blow dry was no longer included in the service so when I booked my appointment I asked about adding it in, I was told it would be an extra $ 40. That would put my service well over $ 100. Since I get my hair colored every 6 or 7 weeks that is just not reasonable.
I truly don’t understand why a salon would want me to walk out looking like I did, certainly not good marketing. Add an extra $ 10 or $ 20 to each service and always include it as part of your service model. I do want to add that the person at the front desk did offer to find a flat brush for me when I explained the situation, but by that time I just wanted to get out of there.

I’m a student, who also works part-​time, so you can imagine my stress level. I have pretty good skin, but wanted to really take care of it. So, I went in for a facial with Allison. I really like her! She didn’t seem pushy or forceful with any products or additional services. I ended up adding a lactic acid, which I had really wanted to do anyway, but I love that she wasn’t insistent. She kept checking throughout to make sure that I was comfortable. She’s very friendly, but in a professional way. Like, I knew that i was talking to an esthetician, but she wasn’t too technical and stand off-​ish.
I saw Guerland (spelling) for my gel manicure. I can count on one hand the number of times that I’ve been to a nail salon, and fake nails and improper filing (especially on my part), have left me with nails that do grow long, but the length isn’t retained. She really gave my nails (and my hands!) some much needed TLC. For the services and technique, I felt like the prices were definitely reasonable, and I will definitely be coming back monthly.

Love Keldara — I am not good about planning ahead of time and almost every time I call to make an appointment for a wax they can accommodate me at around the time I request and it’s usually pretty last minute.

Funny you should post this review as I too had an upsetting incident involving Amy’s appointment. I was on my way to see Amy for an 11:00 appointment for a cut when I came upon a detour from a major accident near the Salon. Amy lectured me when I was running 6 minutes late and said that there was no excuse for being late. She called the next client instead of me and I waited over an hour for the cut. She was sour and treated me like she was doing me a favor as I had been a «bad girl» for being late!

I’ve had my hair cut by Kariana and Amy over the past year after moving to the area. They both did a wonderful job and I enjoyed coming to Keldara every 8 weeks. Unfortunately, after today’s experience I won’t be back.
I had an 11am haircut with Amy scheduled for today. I arrived at 11:05am to check in. The woman at the front desk checked me in and I had a seat. At 11:26 I inquire at the front desk if there is anything wrong as I had an 11am appointment. I checked my confirmation email for my appointment, thinking that maybe I had confused the time. I had the time right. About 5 minutes later the woman at the front desk says that Amy is at a funeral and that someone called me on Wednesday to reschedule. I didn’t receive the voicemail and at this point had been waiting for 35 minutes for a haircut that wasn’t going to happen. The woman at the front desk asked if I would like to reschedule and she said it was her mistake for having me wait for 30 minutes. Apparently, she hadn’t been told that Amy wasn’t in due to the funeral, and the system that allowed her to check me in for my 11am canceled appointment didn’t alert her either.
At this point I said I was rather upset and wasn’t sure if I wanted to reschedule. The woman at the front desk wasn’t all that apologetic, and a fellow customer spoke in my defense saying that if she had been made to wait for half an hour for an appointment that was canceled she would want some type of compensation — which I agreed with. The woman at the front desk, who was obviously not empowered to fix the situation said she would ask for her manager. I’d also note that the woman who spoke up for me was waiting for about 10 minutes just to check out.
At this point it’s 11:45 and another woman behind the desk comes over to help — and she also says that I was called to reschedule and that she could schedule me for later this afternoon. At that point, I said I would be taking my business elsewhere. I never got to speak with the manager because she was on the phone. I understand that I was called, even though I didn’t get the message, but when you confirm all of my appointments by email I would expect an email to reschedule.
Here’s what would have fixed the situation. A heartfelt apology and a discount on the re-​booked haircut. It’s very bad customer service to have a client waiting for a resolution for 45 minutes. A funeral is certainly more important than a haircut and that’s not what will keep me from coming back. What will keep me from coming back was the disorganized, unfriendly and unapologetic response to being kept waiting for 45 minutes for a haircut that didn’t happen.

If you have curly hair and need a blow out I suggest seeing Amy. She is amazing! Perfect blow out with no frizz!
I also got my eye brows done and they came out great!

Over the past few months, I have called several times to have a manicure and never able to get an appointment. This past Saturday, I finally did and quite disappointed. The manicure was mediocre at best and some 48 hours later peeling off. When I was checking out, I asked about making an appointment for a pedicure on Wednesday afternoon and again, no availability unless I was able to come at 1:00pm. Not an option for a person who works during the day.
The woman who did the manicure was very nice but woman at the cash register could not be less engaged. Overall, not a place to return to for me.

Yes, I’m a straight man that has been going to an upscale spa for close to 20 years, and I’m damn proud of it! I’ve been getting my hair cut by the same person (Suzanne) for a big part of that time, and she does a great job.
I’ve been to 2 different locations over the years, and a ton of different renovations and expansions, and the place still has an intimate, friendly appeal every time you walk in the front door. I can’t speak to any of the other things they offer, but I’m sure they’re great. Just go, why are you still reading this?

Love this place! It’s clean, has friendly staff, and the facility is huge, which helps with making multiple bookings!

Stopped in without an appointment. A receptionist with auburn hair went the extra mile to locate a staff member for a manicure. Christiane graciously gave up part of her lunch break to do my nails. She was interested in my preferences and very accommodating about my schedule. I will definitely return for more services in the near future.

I absolutely love coming to this Salon! I’m very random with my haircut appointments so I’ve never had the same person more than once. Usually this is a recipe for disaster but that this salon I haven’t been disappointed yet! I don’t think I can ever go to another salon again!

When we first moved to MA, I was bummed because I hate finding a new hair stylist. I was a little leery of Keldara because of the location, but don’t judge a book by its cover! Keldara has a little bit of everything, but I’ve only used their hair services. I’ve had excellent service and my stylist, Keriana, understands what color/​cut I want with not a lot of cues from me. :) I’m glad I found this gem.

Just came in here at 5:05 pm with my friend and we both wanted to get pedicures. We were told they close at 6pm and the pedicures take a little over an hour. Disappointed they wouldn’t even do the pedicures for us because they’d have to stay 5 minutes late. Were going to buy some body products here but after the semi-​rude customer service I won’t be spending a dime here.

I tried this place after seeing all the positive remarks it got on Unilocal and I was VERY pleased with my results!
I went today for the first time, just for a trim with Cindy and she was great. She was running behind schedule a little bit but I didn’t mind because I didn’t have anywhere else to be. She was very friendly and knowledgable and frank with me! She managed to straighten my thick, course hair in about a half hour using only the hair dryer. No one has ever been able to do that to my hair! The cut itself was very quick but she knew exactly what she was doing, as it came out just lovely.
The ambiance and the whole feel of the place are also awesome. It was big and open and the décor was very pleasing. Plus, I even got a little head massage by the girl washing my hair.
100% making this my «go to» salon and even booked my hair and makeup appointment for my engagement photo shoot!

Edited to add — I gave a 5^th star because I had a massage tonight by Damien. I had never seen him and only scheduled the appointment because my body was killing me. Well, now my body is thanking me! He is the best massage therapist I have ever been to. He’s stuck with me now!
Sarah is the only person I let cut my curly hair! She naturally has curly hair herself and totally understands where I am coming from. She takes the time to truly listen and understand what I am looking to get out of each appointment.
Andy is who I see for my waxing needs. She’s great! She’s kind and very gentle. She is especially great with eye brows and she ways makes sure that my upper lip doesn’t break out.
Dora is my go-​to gal for nails! She’s wonderful.
The ladies who do all the shampoos give amazing head massages! Those massages alone are worth the sometimes hefty price I pay for a day of services there.
I really enjoy that children are not permitted unless receiving a service. It makes for a much more relaxing day of pampering without bored children running amuck!

Keldara removed my initial review… so let me remind. Shoddy customer service at best. They are clearly more worried about money than satisfying the customer. Managers and desk girls have a terrible attitude

Keldara is definitely the most relaxing salon I’ve been to. They have a no cell phone policy which I think is nice to have a break from that constant connection. Plenty of magazines to read while you are having your services done. I get my hair cut by Sarah who I would highly recommend especially for curly hair. She always does such a nice job and I could never get my hair to look as nice as she does when she blows it out. The head massages when they wash your hair are the best touch. I also get pedicures from Ana who never fails to give an incredibly relaxing foot massage and paint my nails to perfection. It is quite pricey but if you can afford it and you need to relax, then Keldara is definitely worth the money.

I love spas. I love feeling like I have been transformed from an ordinary person to a princess, if only for an hour. Keldara gives me that experience, and that makes me happy. On top of that, they are very, very conscious of infection control and disease (not something a princess wants to think about, but cellulitis of the toe or finger from an improperly cleaned instrument is absolute misery). I’ can relax even more, knowing they have taken measures to sterilize everything.
I can only speak for pedicures, but the ones I have gotten have been wonderful, with very professional staff. It’s not cheap, but well worth the money.
When you pull up to Keldara, don’t be put off by its location in a strip mall. When you walk in, the place is huge and beautifully laid out (with a gazebo in the middle!)

I love Keldara! I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated when I leave. The décor is so tranquil and the departments are separated (salon, nails, massage, etc). I come to Keldara to get my nails done from time to time and could not be more pleased.
The staff at Keldara are organized and professional. They tailor your appointment for your specific needs and are extremely accommodating.
I recently got a manicure and pedicure from Kara. She’s the best! She painted my nails perfectly (every nook and cranny was covered and neat). We chatted the whole time and she even gave me some tea! When I come back I will definitely try to book it when she is there.

I’ve been coming here ever since I grew out my bowl cut. Every woman in my family sees Meghan because she is amazing; great stylist, great person. If you want to save money and are looking for a simple cut, the junior stylists are perfectly capable as well.
Keldara also does a great job with eyebrows. They basically treat it as important as a haircut, as they should if you care anything about what your face looks like. I definitely would prefer to spend money and have my eyebrows shaped and even than pay $ 5 at a nail place and get wax in my hair.
I always walk away beautiful. (Plus they have free coffee and cookies on the «porch»)
