This place is a hidden jewel. Some girlfriends and I got together one night to have an early dinner and omg I was blown away. First the décor is absolutely darling. The interior dining room is all shiny wood and gleaming bars. Very trendy but cute. IT’s nice but the patio threw me for a loop. IT was absolutely magical. The interior patio is enclosed with a/c! Then if you want, you can sit out in the outdoor patio area, which was so pretty! I actually want to take my husband there one night for date night since this place was amazing. The food! the food! The food was amazing! From the calamari, which was the best I’ve EVER had, to the fried chicken(the bomb!) to the cocktails(the Jack Rose is bomb). There literally wasn’t a single bad thing about this place. The service was excellent and so worth it. Visit this place ASAP!

Came here for a private event. Everything was delicious on the buffet. Ambience wonderful as we enjoyed lunch outside. Shrimp and grits off the chain but the BREAD pudding was awesome! Will definitely be back for brunch with our Church friends. Never heard of this restaurant but glad we made the trip!

We have been here several times specifically for the brunch that they do on Sunday. It’s an absolutely delectable selection of Southern cuisine. But, it also has many more upscale options in the mix as well including lemon cream with grapes. The barbecue chicken is always delightful, and the breads are really really lovely as well. What’s more, is the servers are all absolutely fantastic and the bartender is even more amazing. We have had some of the most interesting drinks here along with great food friends and fun. With the wine bar in the back, the ambience in this place provides for a great time, with great food and a lot of fun. I recommend coming here with a group of people so that you can really enjoy the drinks and food together.

Girlfriend and I went here for a nice dinner. We went expecting a fairly nice restaurant with good service. The service was way over the top. I don’t know if it was just our waiter, but this dude was like the too nice guy in high school. It made our evening at Wahoo awkward. We couldn’t help but want to leave as soon as we were done with our meal. Also, the prices were outrageous for the amount of food we got. The cheapest entrée on the menu was Tofu. I got the Ravioli($ 19) and my girlfriend got the grits and shrimp($ 18). There were literally five pieces of ravioli on my plate with four puny shrimp thrown on top. I understand some restaurants just have smaller portions, but I’m a growing young man and this is not what I was hoping for. Moreover, this place will put OLIVESONEVERYTHING. My girlfriends plate had olives all in her shrimp and grits and so did mine. They even had olives in the bread. I don’t really like olives but I was hungry so I ate them anyways. Finally, the valet service: they require you to pay $ 2 for valet(plus a tip of course). I would have preferred to park my own car and not pay the two bucks but I understand that their parking space is limited and they needed to maximize the space by parking the cars close to each other.

I stopped here passing through for an emergency bathroom trip. I had been suffering from the flu. I was told that i was not allowed to use their restroom bc i had not purchased anything from their ridiculously priced menu. The lady acted like i had seven heads for asking. Sorry to piss in your cheerios lady but it was an emergency. Since my ass was not allowed to sit on their immaculate toilets i promptly shit in their doorway and left. Next time be courteous to your strangers.

We take turns picking date night and it was husband’s week to choose. We’ve driven past this place several times and I always just imagined it was a independent Bonefish Grill type place. Had no real desire to check it out but that’s where my husband chose. After parking, we walked in through a courtyard that was set up as a reception space. And I knew I had judged the place poorly. The patio was gorgeous, sheltered, landscaped and beautifully done. We ordered the green tomato gazpacho, and the crab bisque, both were delicious though the gazpacho was more of a salsa than a soup. On Thursdays, they apparently have a 50% off bottle of wine special so we split a decent light brute for $ 13. Entrees we shared the chopped salad which was very good. Maybe a little heavily dressed but it wasn’t soggy and the dressing was delicious so I did not mind. And we shared a special of the red snapper with Harissa quinoa. Also delicious and the fish was cooked perfectly. Portions were not huge, but that just meant we had room to split a dessert of butterscotch crème de pot. Exquisite!

I came here today for brunch and ordered a side of french toast($ 5), 1 scrambled egg($ 3) and a chicken sausage patty($ 3). The french toast came with syrup and apples already on top of it which made for a soggy slice of french toast: /. The chicken sausage patty was pink. Overall I did not enjoy my meal. Will not be returning here.

I apologize for the length of this review. This was the worst Mother’s Day meal I have ever attended. I wish I would have looked at Lynn E’s Unilocal review dated 3÷28÷2016 before going. There is a certain expectation when I eat at Wahoo Grill. They have created a good name for themselves and have lived up to their reputation in the past. I ate there 3 weeks ago and it lived up to my expectations. I have dined for their Mother’s Day Buffet several times in the past, and each time it lived up to expectations. This time was far below expectations and in many cases seemed to have the same issues as Lynn E. I am beginning to think they just cannot handle large events. We arrived at 12:40 and were not able to speak to anyone until 12:47. One of the hostesses finally said, «Just give me your reservation information and I will be sure I check you in». 12:45p Reservation for four was not seated until 1:10p even though tables sat empty(unseated) for several minutes. Remember, this is buffet only — clearing and setting tables, and providing drinks is all that the wait staff is expected to do in this situation. The plates are at the buffet line! The table at which we were eventually seated remained empty for about 10 minutes. I would rather they charge ahead for the reservation rather than overbook and make the reservations useless(joke overheard from other patrons, «they know how to take the reservation, they just don’t know how to keep the reservation» Seinfeld). We headed to the bar to have a drink while we waited to be seated. The kids ordered Cherry Cokes. However, they ran out of grenadine after one drink(Hello Publix) so one of the kids had a regular Coke which would not be a big deal if it is a singular event. The bar tender was very nice and was concerned about the quality of the drinks he served us so kudos to him. The food was not served at the proper temperature. Southern(mayonnaise based) Potato Salad was warm. I am sure that is a health code violation(I used to manage restaurants). Champagne was served warm(above room temperature). Now that I think about it, most of the items were served at the same temperature except for the ice and the grits. Buffet line was in the worst place possible(not central to the dining areas and difficult to navigate). The buffet line was outside and as far away from the kitchen as it could possibly be. No seafood on the buffet except for shrimp and grits(a restaurant named after a fish and known for fish, and there is no fish). This is a change from some of their previous buffets. They used to serve some type of white fish on their buffets. No desserts on the buffet. I guess patrons would need to spend extra money for desserts by ordering off the menu. I asked the waiter about dessert and he stated that it was on the buffet. I asked one of the buffet attendants about the dessert and he said we had to order from the menu. I asked the hostess and she said she did not know but would have the manager come to the table and tell us what was available. For the 15 minutes we waited to get and pay or check the manager never came by. I saw the owner in the restaurant several times but I am not sure what she was doing. I have to wonder if there was any preparation made for Mother’s Day other than cooking a butt-load of food. Based on my memory here was the buffet line-up: –Quinoa salad(pretty much flavorless) –Green salad(Did not try) –Cucumber and Onion Salad — nothing to write home about –Southern Potato Salad(unintentionally served warm — at least I hope it was not intended to be served at whatever the temperature was at that time of day) –Red Grapes in Lemon Cream Sauce(see potato salad) –Salmon Paste(see red grapes) and various related accoutrements –Curry Chicken Salad –Finger Sandwich Sliced wheat bread –Turkey Sausage –Scrambled Eggs and Cheese(Dry) –Dinner Rolls(probably store bought) –Roast Beef product was very fatty and chewy –Stewed Pork in BBQ sauce(tasted store bought) –Roast Turkey(Did not have but was a delicious shade of grey just like my Dad before his first heart attack) –Black Forest ham in sauce –Chicken Legs(Kids said they were good –Brocolli(so overcooked it fell apart when I stabbed it with my for) I needed a spoon to eat it –A Monkey Dish for Shrimp and Grits(these seemed to be the same size shrimp that Captain D’s uses in their popcorn shrimp) and I got two shrimp. –No Dessert Also, go with what you are known for. You serve good seafood and have a great atmosphere. Charge more for the buffet, add better food, and that will limit the number of people that come without reducing your revenue. At least you might reduce the number of patrons to an amount that you can manage successfully. The only positive — the hostesses(even though obviously frazzled) were very polite. The bar tender was polite and concerned about the quality of the drinks he was serving.

Update: They charged my card $ 32.10 for a $ 25.00 wine tasting reservation I called to cancel. I guess they tipped themselves, too. Unbelieveably gauche.

This is a great place for a fun, enjoyable dinner. The menu is compact but features several seafood offerings as well as a NY Strip and fried chicken. They offer daily specials to keep the menu fresh. Appetizers, soups, salads, and deserts round out the menu. Soups and salads come in two sizes so they can be a side or a main entre. Portion sizes are rather small compared to many restaurants tough that being said, I left very full. I relay enjoyed the ambiance. The place is deceptively large with four distinct sections including a large outdoor dining area. Highly recommend for groups out to enjoy the evening together.

Our first visit was a home run. We brought some new friends to Wahoo before a concert in Decatur. The four of us had the Tuna, Shrimp and Grits, and the Grouper. I sampled everything but the tuna and it was all fantastic. The ambience was great and the service was too. Would be a great place for date night, a special occasion, or dinner with friends. Highly recommended.

I’ve been meaning to check this place out since it’s in my hood. It was the perfect day to sit out on the patio. The ambience was idyllic and perfect, really. The food? Just okay. A friend and I shared the fried calamari, seared scallops(w/butternut squash risotto) and Maryland crab cakes(special of the day). The calamari and seared scallops were good. However, the Maryland crab cakes were way too salty and a bit difficult to digest. The server was great. He was prompt and very entertaining. Overall, the experience was pleasant.

The plan for my sister’s birthday was Wahoo Grill and after looking at the menu on the website and of course here, I was excited to experience Wahoo for myself. The first server-like person who came around gave us three choices of water. I opted for the something something filtered tap water, as did the rest of our party and we got two nice looking bottles of that, and each had its own coaster… nice presentation. We ordered the fried calamari and something else that I can’t remember the name of(and it’s not on the online menu… more on that later). While we waited forever drinking our really good water, I suddenly remembered reviews of this fabulous bread everyone raved about… it had olives in it and was served with seasoned butter… Unfortunately when I was finally able to get the water girl’s attention she told us they didn’t have that anymore. After an uncomfortable silence where I think I was supposed to say«Oh, never mind», but didn’t, she ran over to Kroger and came back with 2 cute baskets containing some sad sliced bread. Anyway the calamari, while fried, had no crunch because it was marinated in something. It had a nice flavor though. My 91-year old grandmother was less than impressed by the mystery appetizer which was a shame because at 91 you shouldn’t have to waste time on mediocre. In the meantime the birthday girl asked about the salmon which was on the online menu, but seemed to be hiding on the menu Water-girl handed out. She was surprised(and not in the fun surprise-way you expect on your birthday) to learn that the salmon, like that mystery appetizer and the phenomenal bread I heard so much about, was not available. Fast forward to a not-fast ½ hour later… The fried chicken with mashed potatoes and soggy spinach — none of it had any flair. The mashed potatoes were cold and the chicken was cumbersome. No seasoning, no imagination, no fun. I tasted someone’s macaroni and cheese and realized that the seasoning that was a no-show in everyone else’s dinner was dumped into this dish. The best part of the dinner was the Bliss Cake, gratis to the BG, and the fabulous Butterscotch Pot de Crème. Wonderful flavor, very light… a great way to end a not-so-great dinner.

Thank you, Pam, for making it so easy to organize our event. Thanks to the incredible wait-staff for ensuring the event was seamless. Thanks to the kitchen for the fabulous tuna and other dishes. We used the back room for a party of 10 people, and it couldn’t have worked out better. We were able to move around and chat among ourselves without feeling constrained to sit in one place. The food and wine were great, and the staff were helpful, present when we needed them, and very non-intrusive. We couldn’t have had a better time.

Wahoo was highly recommended by friends. We went for my 55th birthday and we’re not disappointed. We chose the appetizers and entrée with paired wines. I had grouper and my husband had steak. Both were really good and nicely presented. We shared a pear tart for dessert with champagne. The setting is understated but not plain. We sat in the front room. A bonus for us– we walked from downtown Decatur because we like to walk and it is a nice area with interesting homes.

Came here for a girls dinner and in typical girl fashion, we all got a variety of salads. My one friend is a vegetarian and she asked if the bacon on the salad could be removed… well, when her food came out, it had tons of bacon on it. While it’s cute, I would say there are much better places that you could spend your money at. Plus, while I am sure the bacon was a mistake, it was really off putting to the group when one of your friends has a meal that is the EXACT opposite of what she asked for!

This place was awesome. The fried chicken was delicious and my wife’s trout was really really tasty which is something because I hate fish for the most part. The Korean BBQ taco was great, and the drinks were great my favorite was the fire side. We will be back

The food is good(I had shrimp and grits and the turkey sausage)! The staff is pleasant, but that valet… is rude. If you can try to park on the street before you get there, if not be sure to bring cash before you come. Valet is $ 2 plus they will have their hands out waiting on tip afterwards. .once they hand you your keys and you have to go get your own car! back to eat. but will probably über so the Valet situation won’t ruin my experience! ! I want to also try their hibiscus champs drink… it looked good although I didn’t get a chance to try it!

We went with a very large party. Staff was not the friendliest crew. Food was not good(fair at best). High prices did not support the poor quality. To top it all, these swashbuckling pirates actually charged a credit card fee PERPERSON! WTF we are well into the Millennium… Needless to say, we will never go there again.

Okay. I’ve been here a ridiculous amount of times but today was the first time I’ve been with a large group(20+ ppl) and so pleased with how well the service was. Now I was going to give three stars because my food was underwhelming on this visit… smaller portion than usual and half the food was lukewarm and the other half was a little hot but again service means a lot to me, so when one guy can handle a party of 20+ plus and still smile, you’re a-okay with me. Wahoo is the cutest. Soon as you walk in you have a sick view of the kitchen so you can see how they create their greatness. Today was the first time I actually sat at the bar(my fav drink there is the poinsettia btw) until our group was ready to be seated and the bartender was hilarious. She answered all our random drink questions, talked about her love for Erykah Badu, and told us about all the cool bitters they use. She had a full bar and still a managed to interact with the people and didn’t look frazzled at all. Once we were seated, the waiter came and moved right along with getting our drinks and started sending food out(albeit after I was good and starving can’t blame him because he wasn’t cooking out meal). As mentioned earlier, I had the Charleston shrimp and grits which I love because of the thick grits and creamy tomato sauce but it was a really small portion compared to what I’ve had there before and it wasn’t hot… well one half of the bowl was and the other wasn’t. Anyway, still a pretty good day at wahoo anddddd they put us in this super secret back room(which I never knew existed) because they had a wedding reception in the back patio area which made our experience feel a bit more intimate. Definitely one of my fav places to venture to for brunch in Decatur.

Oh Wahoo! How I love you! I cannot say enough great things about this place. My mom, daughter, and I come here monthly for the divine food and spectacular service. Appetizers and entrees are always on point. I especially love their seafood based dishes. Their mocktails are also AMAZING! Orange-ginger fizz — I dream of thee. I love that creative drinks don’t have to contain alcohol. And my toddler doesn’t like sharing the mocktails with me. It’s my bad that I even let her try mine once. The service and atmosphere is really what takes the cake. The restaurant is SUPER nice — like sometimes they have valet nice. But every time I bring my toddler, the staff treats her like a rock star and gladly welcomes her. They ask questions, they accommodate anything needed, and I’ve seen how great they are with other kids too. So parents, next time you want a nice date night with your relatively well-behaved children in tow, seriously consider Wahoo! You’ll be glad that you did.

This place! I can sing about it. I can dream about it, I can Unilocal about it, I can pray about it. Nothing beats Wahoo restaurant in all my dining experiences in this Saturday for brunch. There was a small 20 minute wait, that I really did not want to experience because of my hunger pains, but somehow I found a way to pass the time. After we were seated we found out that there is first Coke first serve at the bar! «darn it, I thought to myself, why didn’t I think of this before… Well, here again, it was my first time. Seated at the bar the host and bartender was Miss Lexy. A fanatic and passionate bartender who exercised the art of customer service and mixing the elixirs of life! You could feel the spirit as you watched her poor delicious grand Mimosa, or the best damn bloody Mary’s you have EVER had in the within a 30 mile radius. The rim was drenched in flavored salt that looked like rose pedal dust! Ann to be young again! The food– superb!!! An order of French toast with chicken sausage and the shrimp & grits were not only perfectly portioned and price but also was the highlight of the show! The homemade maple cream butter that replaced the maple syrup one would normally expect on the side of a French toast experience was top notch. It was like nothing I have Ever had before. It was absolutely perfect. Looking over my shoulder glancing at the open range area of chefs sizzling from grill to plate had my eyes fixed on the scent and the peering catch the eyes of Miss Lexy to request more maple butter cream for the second piece of toast. The shrimp and grits. Creamy, consistent and just the right temperature. Another notch on the staff of life. I pray that one day I get the opportunity to dine here with other passionate foodies and praise the owners to open another location near the Grant Park area and allow me to personally promote their successes with my reviews on Unilocal. If your traveling near or from another galaxy, you want to drop in on this quaint setting that really prides itself off as a complete gem! An unpretentious location near the railroad tracks in Decatur helps disguise the true opulence of the dining inside the Wahoo Grill. Heavenly bliss awaits you, dear readers. It is indeed rare that we happen upon such greatness in such careless fashion but that is exactly what happened this fine evening. We were drawn to Wahoo Grill, not in our normal course of events, but instead to help support Habitat for Humanity. On this night, Wahoo Grill was donating 10% of all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and when we heard about it, we loved the idea! We made reservations thinking that like-minded supporters would be lining up at the door. This however was not the case and perhaps we should have strayed from our normally covert modus operandi and helped promote this to garner more support. We were seated promptly. Our server greeted us and she was wonderful. You know sometimes you just connect with people? She was wonderfully knowledgeable about the entire menu and when we had questions she couldn’t answer, she went and got the answer and returned promptly. Our special dining requests were all honored and they accommodated us in every way. We got started with Charcuterie and Cheese. The meats were delightful and the cheeses were flavorful. At the end of our meal, we were still talking about it! When visiting Wahoo Grill, I highly recommend this appetizer! Melanie strayed off her vegetarian reservation to try the Southern Fried Chicken served with mashed potatoes and milk gravy. This was perfectly prepared and arrived at our table so hot it was minutes before she was able to eat it! This is how we prefer food to be served! Instead of the garlic spinach, the Chef was kind enough to accommodate her request for a small salad instead with buttermilk dressing and Melanie loved this! Our young guest ordered the Brasstown Rib Eye that comes with a homemade steak sauce and served on a deb of artichoke hearts. I was able to wrestle one piece away from her but other than that she was as protective as a dog and her bone. This steak was delicious! When I came in, I almost ran over a man in the door who smelled like fish. He said he was on the way out of the door to retrieve another load of Red Snapper. Our server also mentioned the Red Snapper among the first of her recommended selections. I took this as a sign and I could not order anything BUT the Red Snapper and OH how I am glad that I did! Served with couscous, it had a spicy vinaigrette drizzle that was captivating! This was a wonderful example of how to provide flavor to a dish by complimenting, rather than overpowering, the true flavor of the fish. We were full at the end of dinner, but when our server asked about dessert, how could we turn her down? We knew how good everything else was, we were thinking«what could be in store for dessert?». As it turns out, they offered an Apricot Peach Sunny Side Up that sounded great and tasted even better. Melanie says she would’ve added just a touch of vanilla and some cinnamon sugar to top it off. The Double Chocolate Brownie served with High Road Vanilla Ice Cream was so awesome though that words cannot describe. If you haven’t experienced High Road Ice Cream, you are missing out! We had not expected such a delightful meal we found when we visited Wahoo Grill and we were pampered by the service! Put this restaurant on your bucket list of Atlanta restaurants! Guten appetit!

The food here is excellent! If you go, try the crab cakes New Orleans style. The Arugula really compliments the savor in this dish. For the entrée, we had the Shrimp and Grits and the Seared Sea Scallops. Hmm! The scallops are complimented with sauteed spinach, bacon and a mushroom butter sauce. The flavor of this dish releases its intensity of it’s savor at just the right time! You will definitely want to come back for more. The ambiance was very nice… the perfect place for an enchanting evening of a date night. Don’t let the parking lot fool you… small and graveled, but the restaurant experience will certainly make up for this.
