This really is the best ever curry I’ve ever had here in 18 years — consistently — as good or even better than my olde English Indians(or Bangladeshi) back in the U.K. So I know my shizats. All my ex-Pat’s mates plus the pseudo-indigenous locals are blown away. This is the dog’s bollocks no word of a lie.

Great authentic Indian food. They’ve got a nice variety of Indian food that’s very flavorful, especially the paneer sandwich. What brings me back is that it’s the cleanest restaurant in that shopping center. Highly recommend.

Possibly the best Indian restaurant in Atlanta! Tava is certainly an exception among its class with innovative and well crafted dishes, good service, and a nicely designed and spacious interior. I would recommend ordering the Lamb Korma, it’s one of the best.

Simply DELICIOUS! We had the lamb korma and chicken tikka masala and both were excellent. We also ordered garlic naan and it was great too. Service was also friendly and quick!

Really great food and service. Very clean and modern décor. We got take out and started with chora chaat and labooni Goni. Both were delicious but the chora chaat… wow. We then had entrees of mild butter chicken, shrimp tava(medium spice) and veggie vindaloo(spicy). The butter chicken was moist and delicious and my kids loved it. The shrimp was my favorite even though the spice was probably a little heavier than medium(says my wife :)). The veggie vindaloo was very spicy, made me sweat, and I loved every minute of it. The naan, garlic and bullet, were great as well. We’ll definitely be back!!!

Lunchtime in Decatur continues. Very few people in this place. I don’t know why because the lunch specials are bangin’. Free homemade chips and chutney to snack on. Greasy, tasty, nice when I’m super hungry. $ 8 for the chicken lunch special. Heck yeah! The waiter told me it was butter chicken, but I could really have the chicken done like any on the menu. I just went with butter chicken. Out comes a large metal lunch tray. Delicious stew thingie, a kind of greasy, but quite good butter chicken portion, cabbage and pea side dish(yum), rice, and a single gulab jamun. Oh and one roti on the side. All was good and the portions were huge! Bargain and a half for lunch. I’ll be back.

Very good food, great customer service! We ordered chicken tikka, Tadka Dal and Raita. I must say all three items were a super hit. The servers are very hospitable, the portion size is good and service is fast.

We were in town for vacation. Made the trip out from Atlanta and we weren’t disappointed. Truly amazing Indian food. The restaurant is clean and modern. The food is a great value. I had the chora chat(black eyed peas), butter chicken, tikka masala(not on the menu but they have it). I’d highly recommend the chicken tikka masala.

Service is excellent. The food is godly. Breathtaking even. The black eyed peas are surprisingly delicious. The chicken wings, lamb korma, and chicken tikka are to die for. The space is clean and airy, and the prices are, relative to typical Indian fare, a treat.

In case you are curious, tava means frying pan. It is owned by the same people that own Georgia halal. Been there three times and food has always been consistent in taste. Service is really good. Food is delicious but little bit on the greasy side. I don’t really like greasy food so I would take 1 star off. But I had picked up some food from here for my guests and they absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed their nimbu paani with sea salt little bit on the sweeter side but better than coke. Malai kulfi was actually one of the bests I ever had. I would definitely recommend this place to Indian food lovers but my personal fave is still Purnima, all things considered.

Exactly the kind/quality of Indian food this area known for its Indian restaurants was lacking. Wonderful, wonderful. Please everyone who likes Indian, frequent this place often so it flourishes and we can all enjoy for years to come! :)

This place is amazing. I ordered the chora chat and they gave me the bhajiya chips on the house. The chips are a perfectly blend of sweet and spicy combining the mint chutney and tamarind together. The chat is mind blowing. If you like fresh vegetables and a hint of sweetness this is your dish. The vegetables are crispy and cooked to perfection. Their menu says they strive to being popular street food to a restaurant — but they have taken Indias street food to a whole new level.

I really dig Decatur and the city’s South Indian hood, since it’s filled with so many awesome gems like Tava Indian Bistro. Thanks to Unilocal,I found this delicious eatery. ***** I. FOOD&DRINK From Indian food classics to not-as-popular street food, they have it all. And whether you want vegetarian, lamb, chicken, seafood, or egg, they can most certainly accommodate your dietary needs or preferences. Most intriguing aspect? They have a lassi(Indian yogurt drink) bar. Things I tried: *Chicken Cream Tikka: These boneless chicken pieces skewered and fried in a special batter had some nice heat, yet slightly tough texture. They also come with a delicious green sauce. My only suggestion is that they fry it a bit less, so it’s not as dry. **Paneer Tikka Masala: Like others it’s Indian cheese simmered in a creamy tomato sauce and has a sweet and spicy flavors. And, I love eating those cubes of paneer.(Nom nom nom.) **Lamb Pasada: Lamb in a cream sauce… Hmmm, probably my least favorite dish. While it had great flavor, the curry just had too many bones in it.(*Note: I took it to go, so I couldn’t return it.) ***Buttery: Flaky, buttery, and huge — take a trip to #carbcity. ***Masala Chai: Hmmm, so good, especially on a cold day. Indian tea with spices? Yes, please. II. SERVICE Super awesome. Very nice people, and food came out fast. III. ATMOSPHERE/DÉCOR It’s a very nice restaurant with modern-Indian fixtures and beautiful wood floors. And despite how nice it is inside, they don’t sacrifice the quality of the food. IV. PRICES Very well priced. Under $ 13 for just about everything, and I think that’s more than reasonable for the awesome quality of food. V. OVERALL It’s definitely one of my favorite Indian restaurants, thus far in the ATL. I can’t wait to return.

Yes, it hit the spot! Great tasting Indian food with some new Indian food options. Highlights: The food tasted great and was cooked well, Friendly staff with quick service, Decent quantity, Fairly priced, Easy to find location with ample parking. Can improve: They have an interesting menu that offers non traditional items that you might see at an Indian Chaat place, maybe expand that a little more and throw in some Indo-Chinese. If you are going for a menu that offers fusion, might be a good way to add on some new items. Benchmark: They are better than the competition around the downtown area: Zyka and Mirch Masala. Dined Oct 2015 and would return if in the area.

The butter chicken here is absolutely amazing. Very flavorful and tasty. The naan was nice, the rice was fluffy, the flavors are very complex. Nice atmosphere and located in the Patel Plaza shopping center. *Just know that the prices are on the higher side and the 18% automatic gratuity is kind of crazy for an Indian restaurant.

Couldn’t be happier to have discovered Tava! This spot is a hidden gem amidst all the other Indian restaurants in the Decatur area. A Tava is a large stove-like item that is used to cook much of the street food in India. So, much of the food is deemed street food at Tava. Start with items like the Chora Chat or spicy wings. My favorite items was the spicy Lamb sandwich. Really anything lamb is a winner here as we loved the Lamb Pasanda as well. Drink a Nimbo Pani(cumin laced lemonade) to wash it all down. Prices are so affordable and staff is extremely friendly and lovely. I’ll be back for sure.

The food was delicious and very favorful. I really enjoyed the Butter Chicken lunch special with the garlic Naan. The Butter Chicken was not over seasoned nor oil. It was perfectly marinated in the creamy tomato sauce and tender. The price for the lunch special is from $ 8 to $ 10. Also, the servers were very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend stopping by here for your lunch break.

This is my new favorite Indian place! Great food and gracious service. The lunch Thali is generous, and came with an entrée, veggie, dal, rice, raita, paratha bread and dessert. All fresh and enjoyable. The basmati rice was light and fluffy, and the lamb was the most tender I’ve ever tasted. I will be back soon!

Unilocal Atlanta, you have GOT to check out this incredible, new Tava style grill located in the Decatur area. I came here for the first time with my family and brought to my knees upon entering one of Atlanta’s finest Indian eateries. The venue is brand new and still working to establish itself. Brightly colored green walls and smooth wooden tables create a warm natural dining atmosphere. Comfortable booth-style seating and ornately Eastern decorations with light instrumental Bollywood hits playing from up top work to serve a marvelous fine-dining ambiance. A beautiful marble counter top bar is squarely tucked in the dining room corner. What’s unique here is a large glass window allowing diners to peak into the kitchen to watch chefs handle fresh meats on the steaming tava grill. Be sure to order an item from the«Tava Entrees» portion of the menu. The Hara Chicken Tikka ended up being my favorite: boneless chicken flavorfully marinated with spicy green chilies and cilantro. Not to mention, the classic butter chicken certainly helped make my night! Some other exciting dishes I didn’t get the chance to order on this go-around were the Keema Bun and Shrimp Katakat(both cooked on their exotic Tava grill) Service here was easily beyond expectation. I simply cannot wait for this restaurant to soar to new heights and become a community favorite(as they’ve certainly already hit the ground running). Hat’s off, Tava!
