This place has gone down tremendously! This «used» to be my favorite Sushi and Japanese place in North AL but now… I will boycott this place at any cost! It seems they have gotten new owners? Or atleast all new staff (mexicans) and it just isn’t the same at all! The restaurant itself looks absolutely disgusting now and the food is about the same level of disgusting! Do not and I mean I do not recommend ordering sushi from here. IT IS GROSS (and may be contaminated) BTW the prices have gone UP! anyways this place is disgusting now and hopefully it will close and Decatur will get a new awesome sushi place :-)

Food is typically really good but the cleanliness either seems to be slipping or I just haven’t noticed on previous visits. The table around the hibachi grill was sticky and dirty, menu had left over food on it, and the vent hoods are showing grease running down the exteriors. There was also grease or some type of substance running out from under the edge where the hibachi and the table connect.
This visit the food was mediocre so maybe they’re just having an off day. Worthy of another chance but there are a lot of options out there with good food and clean establishments.

Sushi was above average however the hibachi was disappointing. Salad, soup and rice was very tasty but the veggies and shrimp were SMOTHERED in «teriyaki» sauce to the point of being inedible. It was like eating straight honey. The noodles were also sweet. I’ve never had that problem at any other hibachi restaurant. The wort part is that the menu does not describe these items as teriyaki. I was very disappointed that half my meal was inedible.

Food great. Service not great.
Visiting from out of town. Relatives suggested we go there for dinner. Sat at the sushi bar which must have been confusing to the waiter assigned to that area.
Had to ask for appetizer plates then napkins then sweetener then forks (don’t know how to use those sticks).
Food was very good and expertly presented. The young men preparing the sushi were very friendly and attentive.
All in all a good experience
Would go back.

Be careful. I had a few simple rolls (the yummy roll and a California roll) and got food poisoning. The rolls tasted good at the time but weren’t worth the consequences. Eat here with caution. Make sure you don’t have anything important going on the next day.
The guys I ate with had no problems. So I guess it’s a gamble.

My husband and I wanted to try something new last month so we went to Ninja. The food was awesome! The staff are super nice and pretty quick. We’ve been back since our last visit and plan on trying take out in the future mostly because the last two times we were there we were seated closely to loud obnoxious people in the non-​hibachi section :)

Excellent hibachi grill food on first visit but this lunch — not so much. Both my wife and I were dis-​satisfied with the service, the taste of the food and the drinks were sour unsweet tea. Could not finish meals due to poor food quality. This is the second time we dined here and are considering waiting on returning. Management needs to consider quality check on their current menus and front of house service.
Sad 2 star rating for this lunch, hope they can improve service, taste and menu quality…

Excellent food and excellent cooks! The servers could be more attentive, but the food and the cooks more than compensate! You have to try the yum-​yum sauce. It’s good with the rice and everything else.

I kind of have to question peoples’ sushi tastes when they tell me that they think Ninja has ‘great sushi’. I mean, I realize this is Decatur but I was expecting a bit more after reading raving reviews for this place.
The two stars were for the good location, décor & service, but the sushi was lackluster. If you want good sushi, do yourself a favor & go to I Love Sushi in Madison/​Huntsville. It is slightly more expensive, but you get what you pay for– quality.

Enjoyed the evening. Love Japanese food. The Hamachi Kama was great.
Wasn’t impressed with the salmon skin salad. The sesame dressing over powers the salmon skin. Also, the salmon skin should be crispy, but became soggy after it was buried in the salad. Ordered mayo for the salad. And it helped. Ponzu for the fish was not tart enough. Rice ordered separately was the worst dish. It had been reheated and not fresh. Didn’t try the sushi. Service was awesome.

Ninja offers terrific cuisine, fabulous service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Everything we’ve tried from the hibachi grill to the sushi has been awesome. This is absolutely worth a try!

Great Japanese steak house. Food is outstanding… the grill great… what you expect with the unexpected side of noodles. My fiancé had calamari that was great Not chewy at all. Scallops cooked to perfection… steak rare and delicious. The Dragon roll with eel is fantastic. The service was wonderful! Couldn’t ask for. a better experience. Will definitely be back.
