Nothing bad; nothing that great. The chicken was salty without the same tastiness that I’d expect from pollo a la brasa. And a bit expensive too.

A great place for take out. We walked in, ordered, and left in about 15 minutes with food to go. We got a whole chicken, green sauce, fried yucca with yellow sauce, white rice, pinto beans. Chicken was delicious. It fell off the bone and had great flavor. Rice was moist. Yucca a little dry, but the sauce helped. I wish there had been more flavor in the beans. I love their restaurant setup, cleanliness, food overall. Service was awesome. Cons: Restaurant was cold inside, and beans needed more flavor

I came here by accident actually, but I don’t regret it. For it to be a Saturday night, it sure is empty, but then again, it is the day before Valentine’s Day so everyone is all booed up with their cliché heart shaped chocolate boxes and stuffed bears(love is a beautiful thing y’all). I was immediately seated and my waitress Marta, came to take my order. I ordered a drink called Chicha Morada which is a traditional authentic Peruvian drink with a mixture of purple corn, pineapples, cloves, cinnamon, and sugar. I was so excited to taste it, but I didn’t like it at all. It was way too sweet for my liking and was comparable to diabetic-laden kool-aid, so I just ordered a soda. After my Chicha fiasco, I was ready to order. I wasn’t too hungry, so I just went for some sweet potato fries which was yummy, but the portions were huge! Luckily, my brother walks in and finished them off(was that devine intervention or what)? While customer service was excellent, the restaurant was freezing! I heard the bartender joking about how they turned the heat off to save a couple of bucks and based on how it felt in there… he was serious. I ended up putting my coat back on just to stay warm. When I asked what was going on with the heat, I was told that the heating was acting up and they apologized for the temperature. Now that I think about it, maybe those candles on the tables were doing double duty: decór and ambiance and trying to warm up the place! Will I come back? Once there is central heating and air, yes.

Awesome! Menu is a little limited, but chicken and sides were all very good, and the price is about as reasonable as it gets. Next time I go, I’m trying the lomo.

Great food! Great service even though they were busy — on a Tuesday! I had the beef Salgado and even though I’m not a huge red meat eater.

I had been looking for South American prepared chicken and boy did I find it. The chicken was succulent and the duck was amazing. I had the best Margarita ever. Great service and great food. Heavenly! #ZtheCarLady

I met up with a friend here for lunch on a weekday. When we were there it was a busy lunch rush hour. Thankfully our server gave us the time to look over the menu and order afterwards.(That and we were busy catching up and our server was extremely patient with us.) We agreed to try what Las Brasas is known for, rotisserie chicken and yucca fries. Between the two of us we ordered a whole chicken and yucca fries, both to share. The food came out quickly so we didn’t have to wait long. A note, I used to live near DC and regularly went to the hole in the wall Peruvian chicken joints for the chicken and green sauce. The chicken at Las Brasas is moist and juicy, perfectly grilled. The white meat was as tender as the dark meat, a feat. The green sauce was full of fresh herbs but thinner than what I am familiar with. Although the sauce was good, it didn’t bring me back to the chicken and green sauce of my college days.(A creamier green sauce clings to the chicken better than a runny sauce.) The Yucca fries were freshly fried and perfect, served with a cheese sauce was a great accompaniment. We sat here for a long time after we finished our meal and the restaurant let us. The service cannot be beat. Most importantly, in a city with restaurants serving food with steep prices because they can, it was a refreshing change to pay reasonable for lunch; the lunch prices are appropriate. There is additional parking in the McDonald’s parking lot, as stated on the front door entrance of the restaurant.

Our waitress said that she eats the pollo ala brasa five days a week, so I ordered it. So far, this is the best decision that I’ve made in 2016.

This was my first time visiting Las Brasas since they moved into their new facility. A lot has changed from what used to be a small, take-out window with great food and not much else. The ambience in the new space is great. The service scores high marks in my book. The food is still great. We had the Pollo a La Brasa, the Lomo Saltada, the yucca fries and the asparagus. They all were delicious and the portions are generous. I wish the owners the best and hope they keep serving the Peruvian dishes that Decatur has grown to love!

Wow! We’ve been here twice this week. Terrific chicken. And they serve these thick asparagus that are charred on the grill. Yum! I watched one couple get seated and the bartender/server spent a large amount of time discussing their options with them. He brought the lady two samples of wine. Both glasses were more than what I would consider samples. The wait staff are thoughtful, knowledgeable and they serve some really amazing food here. But it’s how you treat people that makes one want to return for more. And they treat you really well! I also like how they deliver all of the table’s food at one time. So two or three servers come to your table and place the plates down at once. It’s a nice touch. Can’t wait to return!

I was a fan of Las Brasas when they were a take-out only, small joint close to Kimball House. I’m glad they have a bigger space to sit down and eat a meal, now. My concern was that the food wouldn’t be as good as it was in their old location but our meal last week was delicious. The yucca fries had a really great batter on them and I like that you can order half a rotisserie chicken instead of a whole(the half is enough for two people with sides).

What a bad experience. I walked in, ordered take-out and then waited. And waited. And waited.(And watched lots of other customers walk in and out with their orders.) Finally, someone checked on me. I told them my name — «Oh! You’re next!» they said. Lots more waiting, lots more people walking in and out with their order. Finally, I asked what was taking so long — only to learn they hadn’t even started putting my order together. Not one bit of it. So I asked them to cancel it and walked out. I had already waited 25 minutes. I think that’s long enough for take out at a rotisserie chicken joint. They didn’t seem to care that much.

I was lucky to eat at Las Brasas with the beautiful hostess, Rosa, and her family. It was around 8:30 on a Wednesday night. We had some great authentic food. The waiter and chef took care of us. They brought many different things to try. There was, of course, delicious chicken, yucca frita, a yummy green sauce, beans and heart. All of it was very good– so good I forgot to take pictures!

I had tried Las Brasas chicken before in the old location, but I am not a huge fan of take-out, so it was not my «go to» place despite the really good chicken. So, when they opened up the new restaurant with the bar, etc., I was very excited. Went last weekend, and it was fantastic. Every dish was excellent — from the duck medallion appetizer to the asparagus, to the fries, and of course the chicken. I’m from the south, and I know chicken any way you cook it, and this is the bomb. I will be back!!!

It’s not cheap, but there’s no way you can get chicken like this, this good, anywhere else. If you haven’t had Peruvian chicken before, you NEED to come here. I’d also make sure to get some of the lomo saltado, it never disappoints.

We went expecting some slight issues since it was brand new, always little things to work out with a new place. The service was a bit slow, but it was packed. Food was awesome, I had a filet mignon on skewers and it came with a few purple potatoes and I also ordered a side of asparagus. My husband ordered the half order of roasted chicken and a side of fries. Service was friendly, and the food was beyond awesome. We will be returning very often. I think everyone should visit and visit often.

Just visited the new location of Las Brasas and happy to know that the food is just as fantastic as before. The Peruvian food is both authentic and delicious and the addition of seating and a bar make it a perfect place for a large group. Be sure to try the house specialties of pollo ala brasa and the potatos huancaina. The duck skewers were also a great choice. I highly recommend a visit!

Wow. I don’t know if I was just hungry after a long day at work… but our meal here was truly delicious.(The fact my wife agrees with me means I’m onto something…*pat myself on the back*) I ordered the Lomo Saltado– basically a soy-based stir fry with cubes of perfectly cooked filet mignon(pink all the way through the inside), braised tomatoes, sauteed onions, and french french fries. SOGOOD. Every cube of steak was tender and tasty. None were overcooked. Perfect execution. You’d expect some tough bits especially since they were cut into more or less bite-sized cubes… but these guys exceed expectations. We’ve had their chicken from their previous takeout location– and while we liked it, it didn’t blow us away. Tonight’s chicken however did just that. Crispy seasoned skin along with flavors that managed to seep into the rest of the meat– not overly so, but just enough. Forget the green sauce that comes with it– you don’t need it. The chicken is good as it stands. Yucca Fries– GETTHESE. And use up all your Huaicaina sauce(basically an awesome cheese whiz/nacho cheese dip with a slight hint of a kick). The outer texture is crumbly-crispy– and I mean that in a very good way– for those of you who know dim sum, think of the deep fried taro balls with meat inside… that deep fried texure on the outside… that’s what you get with these Yucca Fries. So AWESOME. I had a pedestrian Eventide pale ale– a decent palate cleanser, not much more than that. But no matter. This meal made all three of us really happy. Our little one kept grabbing for more chicken. We’ll definitely be back.

When I went to visit my fiancée, who had been studying in Peru all summer, there was a point in the middle of our trip when we were completely exhausted. I had been sick for most of the trip and we’d been on a long night bus ride to a new city. That night, we decided to stop at a nearby restaurant and finally have some pollo a la brasa. It hit the spot! We both were soothed and filled with warmth and the meal reinvigorated us just in time for a two day hike… The chicken at Las Brasas brought me back to that moment. The pollo a la brasa is full of flavor, well seasoned, and juicy. The huacatay sauce is a great accompaniment to the chicken and was a nice treat for my fiancée, who was missing the sauce. We both try to keep a vegetarian diet for the most part, but there are a few meals and restaurants in which we permit ourselves to eat meat – eating at this place will be one such occasion. We also ordered the fries – they were quite good and meshed well with the chicken – and the flan. The toasted quinoa on the flan added a nice, complex flavor. It worked well. For drinks, we each had a pisco sour. They were ok. I would have liked it to be a bit more sour but I understand that there are variations in recipes for drinks and also that the restaurant is new. I’ll probably try one again there before making a decision about whether or not to make the drink a regular item when I go there. It’s difficult to find pisco sours in the Atlanta area and it’s nice seeing one on a menu. Service was good and the atmosphere was fine. It doesn’t have the feel of a pollo a la brasa place but it’s Decatur and it seems like they want to match the atmosphere of other restaurants in the area… simple décor and soft, modern music. There are televisions, so perhaps during sporting events, those are on. The prices are a bit steep for the chicken(15 for a whole) and other items(I think ceviche was 14.00 and the looking at a neighboring table, the dish wasn’t that large). It works for us because we don’t eat much so we can split a whole chicken and have leftovers but for others I can see that it might get expensive eating here. For us, this restaurant will have to be an occasional treat. But, we will return. It’s delicious.

First things first: the pollo a la brasa was THEBOMB! Perfectly seasoned, juicy, served with an excellent hucatay sauce. The ceviche de corvina was very good, could have used a bit more aji and lime. The causa, beans, and rice were all good, but nothing too special. My Peruvian mother-in-law can make all three of these simple dishes so deliciously that my mouth waters just thinking of them. I hope Las Brazas will zing theirs up a bit. Secondly, everything in this review has to be prefaced with the fact that today was their«soft opening», their first day open to work out the kinks in preparation for a grand opening in the near future. They were sorely under-staffed and the one waitperson seemed unfamiliar with the computerized system to generate the bill. Their was no bus person to serve water, run plates, clear plates, clean and re-set tables. For whatever reason, many diners sat for long times waiting for their bill, others waited a long time waiting for food. The three women at the table next to us were saints… I overheard one of them telling the waitress, «I’m sorry, but I have to go… we’ve been here for two hours… can we just pay?» They sat for at least another 30 minutes after that conversation with no interaction with restaurant staff. As we waited for our food(which was a shorter wait than many had, as we were one of the last tables sat before they closed their doors for the day), my husband, daughter, and I came up with our dream list of things Las Brazas might consider doing to make this fledgling Peruvian restaurant even better: –Play Peruvian music! For the first 30 minutes we were there, there was no music, then they played Mumford and Sons for the rest of the time we were there –Display Peruvian art, photographs, textiles, crafts on the walls… very sad and empty mustard-colored walls right now –Show«futbol» games on the television over the bar, not American football games –Add Inka Kola, chicha morada, and Peruvian beer to the drink menu Also, during this«soft opening» stage, definitely let people know when they first come in that you are working out the kinks and service might be a little choppy. Diners will be much more generous, forgiving, and understanding if they know this up front. Maybe even give folks who come in during this stage a coupon for a discount when they come back. The owner/manager was very attentive once the doors closed and it cleared out. He was very apologetic about the wait and brought us a comped order of anticuchos(de lomo, no de corazon) — they were delicious. We will DEFINITELY be back, but will probably give it a few weeks for some more of the kinks to be worked out. I hope my next review will be a solid 5 stars!
