Love love this place. We make a tradition of walking there after eating to see what new stuff they have. There is ALWAYS something new. Great place to spend 30 minutes looking at cool stuff.

Have you ever had that special someone in your life that is absolutely impossible to shop for? Thanks to Heliotrope you can find something for ANYONE.
I embarked here based on what I’ve heard on the wonderful world of Unilocal.Not only that, I love Decatur so much, that it was a good opportunity to make a journey out for the day.
We parked, walked in, and about a half an hour later I had more than half of my budget for my impossible to shop for Secret Santa spent. The greatest part of this place is there is something for everyone. No matter what you are into there will be something there for you. They have an amazing assortment of greeting cards, novelty trinkets and toys (if you want a Bill Shakespeare action figure, you will find it here), local soaps, and candles.
My findings include: Mama «Decatur» scent soap (locally made, obviously), a keyboard picture frame (my Secret Santa works in IT), and a mug with a positive quote (my favorite quote).
Heliotrope gave me a sense of relief after a long few weeks of killing myself over what I’m going to get this person. The moral of the story is, shop local and prosper.

This store is fantastic. If you’re out and about in downtown Decatur, don’t miss out on this gem of a store! The store owners have fantastic taste; there are all kinds of odds and ends in the shop, but they are all well chosen and fun. From gorgeous jewelry, hilarious cards and books, to candles, kitchenware, and home décor, you will be sure to find something you love at Heliotrope!

I absolutely love this store. I try to make a point to stop by whenever I’m in Decatur (which isn’t often enough).
This is kinda my go to place whenever I need a random gift. Because they have a little bit of everything. Candles, greeting cards, handmade soaps, art, books, Jesus Shaves (not a typo) mugs. Really, just about anything. I can usually find something cool for just about everyone on my list (including myself). Bonus: the staff here is always friendly and they greet customers with a smile.

Walking into this store is like going into a brick-​and-​mortar Etsy shop. This is a good place to check out if you want to pick up a unique gift for someone or are looking for something awesome to decorate your house with. There’s something for every price point.

Infrequently, but always overjoyed to do so, am I found looking for any of the following:
Moustache Finger Tattoos
Pantone Toothbrushes
Pantone Journals
Whiskey rocks
Greeting cards of all levels of hilarity
An umbrella with a sword’s hilt as a handle
Moleskines of all sizes
However, it’s so nice to find them all under one roof. Bless you, Heliotrope, for housing every gag gift I’ll ever need from here to eternity.

Totally cool! I could have shopped in here for hours. Fun staff, fun stuff. Such variety too!

Such a great find! Friends and I were strolling from Chai Pani over to Yogurt Tap for dessert when we passed by this place. I am glad we decided to stop in for a visit.
Heliotrope is one of those little novelty shops (and I don’t mean adult novelty…) with lots of cute and unique items. I don’t want to spoil the secret, but I found an item there that was the most adorable thing I’d ever seen and had not seen anywhere else before. I went ahead and bought it, and then when I looked it up online at home that night, turns out every place online was charging more than Heliotrope did. Score.
Would’ve spent more time browsing if we had more time. I definitely want to go back to finish checking out everything else. There was just so much to look at.

Heliotrope is the quintessential knick knack shop with a dark, wickedly funny sense of humor. It has perfect hostess or party gifts for just about any occasion.
It’s easy to kill a good deal of time in here looking though all the goods they’ve got for sale: decorative cups and stationary, quirky books with titles like «New Mom Porn,» mustache shaped baking dishes, greeting cards and birthday cards with funny pictures, encouraging and sassy wall signs, and more.
The store is a relatively small space, but they really make the most of it. Things are packed in there alright. It all flows pretty well though — people just understand they need to skinny up when trying to pass each other in aisles or find alternate routes to whatever they want to get a closer look at.
I really enjoy it because I can browse unhindered by pesky sales people like some stores that have overly helpful and eager staff. This may just be me, but I like to shop on my own — don’t keep trying to «help» me, just let me look and do my own thing. Please!

Heliotrope is probably one of my favorite stores in downtown Decatur. The giftshop has some of the quirkiest, and not to mention cutest, trinkets! If you’re shopping for a unique gift for a friend (or yourself!), then this shop is definitely worth paying a visit to.
The boutique itself is relatively small, but once you walk inside, you can see that it’s packed with items. I was first drawn into going inside Heliotrope a few weeks before Christmastime when their collection of Pantone postcards in the window caught my eye. I’ve been recently obsessed with Pantone, so I was thrilled when I noticed that the boutique carried many more of their items, ranging from colorful mugs and notebooks to even toothbrushes and contact lens cases! I ended up purchasing a Pantone wall calendar that was conveniently 75% off (!!), and was itching to buy one of their notebooks, but managed to resist… for now.
Heliotrope also has a wonderfully cute greeting card collection, along with jewelry, calendars and many delightful trinkets that would be great gifts for anyone. I will definitely be back soon — I can only resist a store that carries Pantone for so long.

This is a great little boutique! Make sure you have at least half an hour though, there is a LOT to look through. Lots of small unique things that you can easily miss if you don’t go slow. I bought unique Christmas gifts for under $ 20. The owner/​cashiers were very friendly and helpful.

Such a cute store! This is the type of place that has tons of cute gifts, trinkets and local good with your neighborhood written or pictured on it that you don’t really need. A couple doors down from Pinewood Tippling Room, I stopped in since the restaurant doors weren’t open yet. The space is narrow and pretty small, and there’s a lot of merchandise stuffed in there. My fave find? the Little Prince notebooks. Wish they also carried Emily the Strange… it seems like the type of place that would.

Ohmygosh, this is my new favorite place. For the most part, I’ve been going to Taste, but when they closed down for renovations (?) I found Heliotrope. I’m a little disappointed because they used to have a huge stash of the «Keep Calm and Carry On» merch and I’m *addicted* to that trope, but they still have plenty of fun little gift ideas/​things I have no need for but want to buy anyway. Even my husband, who has NO TOLERANCE for window shopping and kitsch (why did he marry me?) loves wandering through here and has taken a shine to the fun shaped ice cube trays they carry. I’m hoping he took the hint on some of the beautiful necklaces they have hanging up… the silver peacock feather is delicate and I’m dying to add it to my collection!
The shop IS a little crowded, so I wouldn’t suggest big purses or babies, but they do usually have some fun little items out on the sidewalk to lure you in so you could just end up like me, hugging your large purse in front of you so you don’t knock over the gorgeous yellow and teal dish display currently up front. Their prices are fairly reasonable, but I get the feeling destroying a display could get a little pricey!

Heliotrope stirs up my inner materialist. The part of me that knows everything in life will be golden if I just buy that gurgling fish-​shaped vase.
After lunching next door, I can never resist a pop into this cute little Decatur shop. Heliotrope is packed from floor to ceiling with gifts for your sister, mother-​in-​law, bff and Reiki therapist.
The store clerks, who by the way are always impeccably clad, are friendly and helpful. This is good because I can get lost browsing the shelves «oohing» and «ahhing» over things like sushi-​shaped rubber erasers and arugula scented candles.

Loooove this store. Whenever I’m in downtown Decatur I always drag whoever is with me to this store. There literally is something for everyone.
Merchandise is plentiful and stacked high to the ceiling. They have a lovely «Etsy-​esque» jewelry selection that usually grabs my attention first thing. They also have some of the best scented candles around including Voluspa brand and the Wood Wick candles that flicker when lit. The rest of the store has various knick-​nacks that would make perfect stocking stuffers. Prices are average to high but the quality is great and they often have things you can’t find anywhere else.
The workers here are very nice. Make sure to give them your name every time you shop here to be eligible for store credit rewards!

I LOVE THIS STORE. This is the ultimate gift shop. Best Good Friend and I were perusing Decatur and wandered in here. There is something for everyone. This is one of those places that has the best ideas, and if you were totally rich, would be able to organize your whole life (and be super fab while doing it). They had everything from eclectic water pitchers to ceramic travel mugs to takeout menu organizers. I wanted to buy everything and somehow walked out with nothing. Well, hellooooo Christmas shopping.
I love that they had a few locally made items. Check out the soaps named after the different Atlanta neighborhoods. Super cute.

Heliotrope is lovely and cluttered and full of miscellany that you may or may not ever find a need for. The prices or a little steep, but the first time I walked in with my friends, I was able to find owl-​shaped vanilla chapstick for four dollars.
The second time I went in, I noticed they carried Tokyo Milk Perfume. This perfume smells divine, they carry an array of scents, and it’s cheaper than buying it online and paying for shipping. My personal favorite is Song in D Minor.
Service-​wise, everyone I’ve encountered has been friendly and willing to help me navigate through the shop when I’ve went in searching for something specific.
All in all, a lovely place that I plan on frequenting as often as my paycheck allows.

Darn it! I found this place on the first day of my trip. I had full intensions of getting back but didn’t…double darn it! There is literally something in this store for everyone. If only I lived in Decatur, GA, this would be my go-​to gift shop. Be warned though, it is one of those places that you could roam around in for hours yet you would still not be able to take it all in.

Came in today looking for coasters and the lady working there saw that I entered and didn’t bother to say hi or ask me if I was looking for anything. She simply looked annoyed that a customer had come in. The store was pretty much empty besides myself and I had to flag someone down to help me find my aforementioned coasters.
I was able to walk out with a set of sweet kaleidoscope coasters (woooott ring free tables) and was tempted to buy more. This is one of those stores where you constantly find yourself asking «do i really need that? oh ya, i’m sure i’ll need that cocktail shaker disguised as a spray paint can…» I would give the actual store four stars and the customer service half a star.

Heliotrope is the kind of place that makes me think I need more stuff to fill my already cluttered a.k.a. homey apartment. Like a meretricious hand sculpture with a snake slithering up the feminine wrist, tongue flickering toward the small bowl balanced on fingertips. Oh, I’ve been needing a spot to store my… Stevia tablets…
When I popped by Heliotrope days prior to Halloween, the holidays already had permeated the store. I stocked up on two boxes of slightly morose Christmas cards; they cost more than I’d usually spend, so I’ll reserve those greetings for the people who *really* matter, or at least appreciate my constant card-​sending.
I spent 10 minutes weighing the pros and cons of purchasing a turkey candle. I decorate for most holidays and have slowly accumulated four large storage containers of Cupid signage, glittering pumpkins and icicle garlands. The more I acquire, the more I need. Yet, I decided against the turkey candle, although it clearly would complement the giant gobbler that soon will sit in my living room and an orange iron sign saying «Thanks» in calligraphy.
You know what, I need the turkey candle. I’m going to Heliotrope today after work.
