I’ve lived in this neighborhood all my life and I always bring my shoes here. The guys are quick, courteous, and usually have some jokes about how rough I wear my shoes :-). It’s all good. I like that they do quality work quickly WITHOUTCHARGINGTOOMUCH. I needed taps put on a pair of platform boots. I took them to a shop at Toco Hills since I was on that side of town running errands. That shop(which also repairs vacuums?!?) wanted to charge twice as much and take two days to to it. Nope. I brought the boots to Heel Quik and the gent had them done in 15 minutes. It was mid day on Wednesday and they weren’t busy, so that helped.

I took in a brand new pair of Italian hand made dress shoes to have Goodyear welt soles put on. After carefully explaining what I needed, the guy working that day seemed to make up a price off the top of his head. That should have been a warning flag to take my business elsewhere. However, I decided to entrust them with this simple task that numerous shoe repair shops have performed for me in the past. When I return to pick up my shoes on the promised date, they somehow have misplaced my shoes. After they finally locate them, I quickly inspect the sole and notice a place on one of the shoes where the sole has a gap due to the adhesive already starting to separate. The guy then takes the shoe and begins to grind down the spot in question. I quickly stop him and ask him why is he trying to grind down the sole that I am paying to have put on the shoe??? He has a dumbfounded look on his face and then asks me what would I suggest he do to fix it? I tell him that I’m no shoe cobbler, but common sense would tell you that grinding the newly applied sole down is definitely not the answer. Needless to say, I quickly took my shoes before any further damage could be done.
