Ace & A Heating & Air Conditioning

We have used Ace & A since 1999, when they replaced our systems. They have always provided excellent service and advice for our units. We have them maintain our system twice a year. We trust them to give us sound recommendations to keep our systems running smoothly.

The last time I tried to use Ace and A to service my furnace was a complete rip off and a very unpleasant experience. I had just received an email for a $ 25 coupon off repair fees from Ace and A and just like clock work my furnace stopped working a few days later. I said to myself, great, at least I can get a small discount on the price by using the coupon I just got. So, I call for an appointment and the service tech came to my house promptly. After spending about ten minutes messing with the furnace, the tech comes out with a small part from the unit and says, this right here is your problem. He said this is called the hot source igniter and it is bad and that I shouldn’t worry, that he has a new one in his truck to replace the bad one. I said to myself, great, problem solved real quick. Up till now, we had not discussed anything about price.
Apparently, the hot source igniter from his truck would not fit my unit, so, the technician said he would have to order the part and come back to fix it. I said no problem, but, how much is the part and how much is the labor? He said the hot source igniter would cost me $ 230 and I would still have to pay $ 84 for the service call. I couldn’t believe that a small piece from my furnace could cost so much. I told him to give me the serial number of the part so I can look it up for myself. I found the part online for a whopping $ 30. I showed the tech the price I saw online for the part and he got upset and said he has to go by the prices he has in his book. I said, don’t worry about it, that I will order the part myself and find someone else to put it in for me as the technician said he would not be able to put in any part that he himself does not provide for me.
I said that’s fine so how much do I owe you for your work done so far. He said I owe him $ 84 and that he cannot use my $ 25 coupon for this visit because he didn’t do any repairs. I paid the $ 84 and proceeded to get the part myself and getting it put on my furnace.
I will never recommend this company to anyone.

The previous owner of my condo used Ace and A for all their a/​c and heating needs and I decided to follow suit especially since the unit is still under warranty. I called Ace and A this afternoon around 2:30pm and by 3pm, I got a phone that a technician has been dispatched and the technician arrived about 20 minutes after I got the call about the dispatch. I was impressed at how fast they were able to get out a technician to my place. I was expecting to not have anybody come by for another 24 – 48 hours, but I was shocked at how fast and prompt they were.
The technician that was dispatched out to my condo was named Jack. Jack demonstrated that he was very knowledgeable in the field of heating and air and worked quickly, but diligently and explained everything to me at the end as to what services he performed and what will need to come next in the process. I am very satisfied with the prompt and courteous service that Jack and Ace and A provided this afternoon!

Ace and A is an excellent service provider! They are always on time, helpful and knowledgeable. Dion, our technician, was so great and informative. Highly recommend them.

Ace & A has always been reliable — and reliably affordable — since I’ve been using them. Recently bought into the annual maintenance plan, and have been happy with that, too. (Although I think there should be a discount on additional visits for these «subscribers.») Technicians are always pleasant and courteous, nice to my dog and careful not to leave my house messy. Recommended!

I have been with Ace & A since 1991 (23 yrs) and they have always been great to use as my «go-​to» heating and air place. I have always carried an annual maintenance agreement with them, and have pretty much had my entire heating and air system replaced at one time or another over the years. I have found their technicians and their office staff to be prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly, and the prices they charge reasonable. Anytime problems have developed with my system, I was able to get an appointment scheduled fairly quickly.

I have used this company for years for routine air conditioner maintenance and have never had a problem. This weekend my a/​c stopped working and because I have never had an issue with this company, I scheduled service for this morning (arrival time between 8 and noon) even though they charge for a service call (and don’t credit the money towards the work performed) unlike other companies. The information they have given me has always been reliable and I am willing to spend more so that I don’t feel ripped off.
As I said, someone was supposed to be here between 8 and noon, and when it was 84 degrees inside with the temperature climbing, my patience was going. I called at 10:50 to be sure that someone was still coming as I hadn’t spoken with anyone about this since Saturday (and although they have not ever no-​showed, today would not be a good time for that) and I was assured that I was next on the schedule. I called back at 11:52 when I hadn’t heard any more and spoke with a very rude woman who said that although I was next, there was no way of predicting when that would be. This scared me, as I have animals who were in the sweltering heat with me and I could not sit here indefinitely waiting. I called another company (which has no service fee) but in the meantime, someone called back a few minutes later and said that the technician would be here within 30 minutes. Which he was, and he quickly diagnosed a minor repair (blown capacitor) which is like a 5 minute repair. For which I was charged $ 254.95 (thanks to a $ 10 coupon I found online– original price was $ 264,95). Which, according to my online research, is an insanely high price. And when this company suggested that I proactively replace the part in 2011, would have cost something like $ 130 (admittedly that was without the $ 84.95 service call).
So, the work was done by a very nice and competent technician (as are all of the technicians with whom I have dealt over the years).
Took off stars for the snarky person I spoke with this morning and the very high price. I will chalk that up to my dumbass tax, as there was certainly nothing deceitful about it. And I will find another company for my semi-​annual maintenance.

Had them disconnect and reconnect two AC units while I had a driveway dug out. Their quote was very reasonable, and they came out when they said they would. When reinstalling the units, I asked for additional work, and they were very reasonable and worked into the evening to finish it all up. Great Job! Would strongly recommend them.

We’ve been dealing with Ace & A for about two years now through their maintenance plan. During a routine check, it was recommended that we clean the core and add freon. This would come at an additional cost, but every detail was explained and I was shown before and after. Our (daily old) system is running more efficiently and cooler than before the service call. Dion was very professional and informative making it a pleasant experience.

I can’t recommend these folks because they try to hit you with hidden charges; it’s like going to a bad car mechanic.
They advertised an early bird special service at $ 59.95, then when they had to turn on a switch next to my A/​C unit to turn the unit on, they later came back and tried to charge me another $ 21 for that, claiming it was an «additional repair!» During the time he was here, the technician also tried to constantly upsell me on other services that he didn’t tell me the price on (and made it sound as if it would be no charge), and when he slyly tried to get me to pay the extra $ 21 for flipping that switch, I said I wanted to talk to his manager. His manager, Rick, who is also the owner, was equally unapologetic and threatened to call the police, over the $ 21, even though I was perfectly willing to pay the $ 59.95. It was such a natural response for the technician and owner to threaten with police that this might be part of some rehearsed tactic. Luckily, I’m in law, so I told them that I’d see them in court.
They did end up foregoing the $ 21, but I’m concerned other people may go through what I went through and just acquiesce. Rick said, «that’s how we make our money,» which makes me think their BBB «A» rating is, like other high BBB ratings, misleading. The policy is that they should give you a quote before all repairs and services outside of what is agreed to; if you have to deal with a company who doesn’t recognize that immediately (and only later admits it when pressed) and wants bully you into payment, I suspect that there are better options. Just my opinion.

I’ve used this heating and air company for the last 3 projects I had for work, and have been thoroughly satisfied with the results.
Their friendly and knowledgeable staff are highly accessible to come give a quote, and fix whatever issues you are having with your furnace and or air conditioners usually the same day you call. In comparison to the other HVAC companies in the metro Atlanta area, ACE&A has always turned out to be the cheapest.
They always provide, quick and efficient service, whether it be replacing a whole furnace, fixing a compressor problem, or replacing a bad thermocouple (the part that sends an electrical signal to light the pilot light in a furnace).
The only down fall, their time frame window is a little broad, for example, noon-6p.m. That’s why I’m deducting a star.
If I owned my own house/​condo I would totally trust them in servicing my heating and or air conditioner!
