A Dekalb Tree Service

My first sign to stay away should have been that I had to call THREE times to get someone to call me back. (I should have stopped after two, but I had a coupon from the Savvy Shopper and wanted to see if they could beat my previous estimate for a safety trim like they said they would (by $ 100-​$ 500, no less))
When I finally did get a call back about a week or so after my first call, I told them about my previous estimate and the coupon. I was told ok no problem, and scheduled the service on a Saturday morning at 9:30.
At about 9 on that Saturday, I get a call from an unknown number, no voicemail. I had a feeling it was the tree service so I called back (which I never do) and was told they can’t honor their coupon or beat the previous estimate and that it would cost me «6, 7, 800 dollars» rather than the previously quoted $ 425.
I asked him why it would be so much more and why the estimate he’s giving me is A.) a $ 300 range and B.) why he’s calling to tell me this 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment. He said he didn’t know, maybe they have more guys or carry more insurance, and to part B, he retorted, «at least I called you.»
Do yourself a favor and AVOID this tree company. I have yet to have the service completed, but Steve’s Tree Service has actual customer service and is polite and timely with their estimates and call backs.
I wouldn’t want someone who can’t conduct business properly cutting down tree limbs anywhere near my property.
