Established in 2009.

Brandon Mccaghren is the first (and currently only) certified 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Instructor in the entire Southeastern United States. In addition to being an experienced Black Belt and teacher in the traditional martial arts, he has spent training time with some of the most well respected and recognizable faces in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community, including Rickson Gracie, Jean Jacques Machado and (of course) Eddie Bravo.

I had been a mixed martial arts fan going on a year when I finally decided to practice it and not just follow it. This was not the first place I tried, but when I finally made my way around to here, I knew it’s where I needed to be. I walked in and explained why I wanted to improve my knowledge, and the entire place was very welcoming. Upon arrival, you already feel like family with these people. The instructor Brandon doesn’t just make sure you learn a technique, but that you come to master it. Anyone who I have a conversation with regarding mma or jiujitsu, I always refer them to stop by here.

10th Planet Jiujitsu in Decatur, AL is an amazing place for a number of reasons: you always feel welcome, whether you are a beginner or a black belt; even if you show up late you can always jump in and not be behind; everyone is helpful and will give you tips and techniques to make your submissions more effective. I have become much more confident in my abilities in jiujitsu and everyday activities, and I’ve also gained a number of good friends.
