Decent little place, usually don’t see many who eat in, you see a lot of people getting to go food; one major advantage they deliver– not sure of the delivery area but it has come in very helpful a time of 2 for me. Food is decent/good, egg rolls are lacking but I haven’t found a good egg roll in a long time. Gals working the front are just okay, not very personable but it is normally busy with take outs.

My wife was running errands in the strip mall that this place is in and decided to give it a try. She ordered three General Tso’s Chicken Combo dinners – one for herself, one for me and one for her employee. Unfortunately, we were all three disappointed. The refried rice was good in that it wasn’t overcooked to the point of being like rubber like some places make theirs; so, that wasn’t the problem. The egg roll was pretty average for Chinese restaurants in the area; so, that wasn’t the problem. The problem was the star of the meal – the General Tso’s Chicken. They put sauce in the bottom of the container; then, they put the breaded, fried chicken chunks over it. That meant that the dish was pretty boring and dry until you reached the bottom of the dish. What little sauce that was in the dish was a nice interpretation of General Tso’s sauce. However, too little sauce in the dish and not enough sauce covering the meat made the dish the worse General Tso’s Chicken that the three of us had ever tried.

Awful food… quite possibly the worst chinese food I have ever had(and my standard are not high) the portions very small and worst of all was the service… absolutely horrendous, she was trying to serve be but knew absolutely nothing about the menu, it was a god awful experience that I would not wish upon any diner. The restrooms were utterly disgusting and smelled of urine and feces — Bottom line the food is awful, portions are small compared to other chinese joints, the servers are clueless and the place is as filthy as a public restroom in Tijuana. Disgusting.

So I used to frequent this as my Chinese place but stopped going here. I used to get their combo meals and REALLY enjoyed their wonton soup. You can tell they made their own wontons which is such a difference from frozen wontons. I miss the wonton soup and egg rolls and their dinner rolls. Their combinations were huge and so worth it for the price. I stopped going here because it is SO dirty and makes me sick. I can’t imagine eating here again. Their hot mustard containers are dirty on the top and crusty. Their booths have old food all in them. Their bathrooms are completely disgusting, I can’t even describe. I’m sad that they let this place go. Again, good food, but makes me really wonder because of cleanliness. It’s a turn off. I’d rather pay more for places like New Peking on Ford Rd.

Had it delivered Oakwood hospital, the delivery man had the bag on a wheelchair that he picked up from the hospital… disgusting. The portion size was quite large, but I’m more of a quality over quantity type of guy. Overall I thought it tasted boring. I ordered the chicken chop suey combo, and it was very watery. The fried rice was decent, and so was the sweet bread. I most likely won’t be ordering from here again.

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill recently. Delivery errors are frequently messed up and the quality of the food is borderline gross. It’s clear that cost cutting measures are in effect!

Food is always spot on and they deliver which is convenient. Easily the best Chinese in Dearborn. Tried them all when I moved here 6 months ago and nothing compares.

Food is OK, staff is very friendly. Bathrooms are utterly disgusting — they smell of piss and are sorely in need of a complete remodel.

This was my first time eating here, and I ordered spicy lo mein combination, and the lo mein was delicious! You get a egg roll, and soup with the combination and I got chicken noodle soup which I didn’t care for the taste of it here. The rice wasn’t hot like I would have preferred it, but it was good. For the most it’s decent… the canton inn makes the best chicken noodle soup.

Ordered the shrimp with hot garlic sauce from a recommendation and should’ve listened to the other reviews about this place on here it had no flavor wasnt hot(as in spicy hot) and had no garlic flavor to it plus a ton of water chestnuts and bamboo and maybe 4 or 5 shrimp it is exactly as people on here describe no one was there literally I walked in no one was there to greet me for about 10 minutes and when they did come out it was 2 little girls with attitudes and no welcoming charm at all and seemed to be more interested in their conversation than helping me as a customer. It seemed as though I was bothering them just by being a customer there never going there again not recommending anyone go there either. Would give this place a 0 if I could but I guess a one it is then!

Decent food, especially the General’s chicken. Slow an un-attentive service. Men’s bathroom was disgusting. Went there several times, and it is always the same. If the bathroom is not clean, it makes me concerned about the kitchen’s cleanliness. Wont be back.

The food was over cooked with way too much MSG. Blech! I would not recommend eating here to anybody. They cut corners and give you low quality Chinese cuisine. Just don’t go. Your stomach will thank me later!

they have lost their touch. food is slowly brought out on a tea cart. no one thinks enough of the customer to even think of putting a menu down if you seat yourself at their suggestion. I ate here faithfully for many years, and this final trip sealed the deal. never again hongkong. you are no longer the same.

I love this restaurant! They are severing the most they can for the price you paid. You can compare it with other like-kind ethic restaurants. No fanfare, their dishes just stand out.

Another fave place of everyone I work with. They deliver and they are cheap. That seems to be enough to make the crew happy. Eggrolls are the big universal fave of everyone. Real non packet plum sauce and decent non packet hot mustard will help. The crab rangoons are also highly thought of. Almond chicken or general tsos will work in a pinch. Go for white rice instead of fried though. I always do but even people who normally opt fried choose the white here, just a tip. I tend to stick to the tasty hot and sour or wonton soup myself. I also happen to like those weird ass dinner rolls, its a Detroit style Chinese food staple! If you don’t want one, pass me yours and its more for me. Yeesh. If it were not so f-ing convenient I probably would not pick here, but in a pinch it works.

The other day I walked into this place for lunch and ordered the chef’s special chicken. The proprietor said, «You know, that’s our best dish and no one ever orders it. Let me know how you like it.» I loved it! An orange-sauce style chicken with carrots and onions. I recommend it. It was thoughtfully pointed out by Hassan A. that the décor in this place is old school. That’s part of it’s charm. Wood paneling and red leather seats in the booth? I love it. Hassan’s right, if this is not your thing skip it but this and Red Star are the best Chinese places in this part of town. Chinese restaurants can basically exist on two tiers, the Chinese-American fast food type places and the places serving authentic food of higher quality of craftsmanship; like the difference between a Shaw brothers kung fu movie and something sensitive and artistic starring Gong Li. Hong Kong is definitely on the former end. But with that said, I love it. And full disclosure, I love Shaw Brothers movies. Good eats. Get the chef’s special.

I came on Unilocal to find a new Chinese place to get dinner with Jacob in the Dearborn area. This restaurant had good reviews(that weren’t all from the vegens/vegetarians) so I thought, what the hey, let’s give it a try. It’s located in a strip mall, which is usually a no-no for me. When you go inside, it transforms from a crappy strip mall restaurant to a nice sit-down restaurant with fun Chinese art and décor all over. There weren’t many people there and it was a Friday night, which is always weird to me. The waitress was very odd. She had absolutely no personality, never smiled and never said thank you. I hate that but at least she got us our drinks. The menu was extensive and well-organized. The prices are about a dollar more than my normal Chinese hang-outs, which kinda annoyed me because I know I’ll only eat half of the huge portions(and I don’t take leftovers.) Anyway about my 3-star rating… I decided to order the General Tso’s chicken dinner and Jacob got the curry chicken. Our soup came out with a American-style dinner roll. The first downside for me is that they do not serve eggrolls with your dinner. I kinda look forward to an eggroll, not a towering dinner roll. The soup was bland and weird. It had undercooked spiral noodles and cubed process chicken. I only took a couple bites. I’ve had way better chicken noodle soup at Chinese restaurants; they don’t even try. The General Tso’s chicken was great though! It had a very bold, sweet flavor with a bit of spice. Jacob did not like his curry chicken. He said it didn’t have any flavor and I agreed. Plus, the chicken in his dish did not seem very fresh. We were disappointed. Overall, the meal was just«okay.» Definitely not the best by far. We decided we’ll go back to give it another chance but we’ll split a meal so we don’t waste $ 10 on a dish we may not like.
