SHELL PUMPS (MOST OF ALL SHELLS PARTICIPATE) UNLESS OWNER OF GAS STATION IS GREEDY… if you use a debit card, it knocks off the credit card price which is higher, so the debit card can be used same as a cash transaction. NOT THIS ONE! SO FOLKS THAT DO FUEL UP HERE PLEASE REMEMBER THIS WARNING.
So tonight I needed fuel for my suv. The sign read $ 2.19 for cash, $ 2.29 for credit. Armed with my Shell fuel rewards card, I proceeded to go fuel up. Swiped the FRN/​fuel rewards card and got the 3cent discount, swiped my debit card and was very surprised to see that after I put in my debit pin and all, pump still charged me the higher credit card fuel price. Very dissapointed. However weighing the factors in hand decided to go ahead and fuel .
Factor 1: very cold outside.
Factor 2: vehicle nearly on empty.
Factor 3: Too tired to drive around and waste more gas just in the hopes of finding a cheaper Shell station.
The great point, for the fuel hungry traveler needing immediate fuel for their vehicle while traveling this stretch of Michigan Interstate 94, this station is an ideal location, directly off the freeway. It sits at the west corner of Van Born road and Telegraph road, so after fuelling you are couple of 100 feet from the on/​off ramps.
Just please remember, unless you use cold hard American greenbacks, you will be paying the same price with debit card as you will if using a credit card.
