DOTS – Daytona Orlando Transit Service Inc

Our driver is currently lost… Going to miss business dinner. The gps is dead she is on the phone driving, she is asking us for help getting to a freeway… No one here is from Florida. Should have paid extra for a regular cab. Do not recommend.
Update: I had a pick up time from my hotel at 7am to go to orlando air port, they arrived at 6am which I was not ready for. The email confirmation I have said 7am. They left me behind since they came early. I called to find out what’s going on. The poison I spoke with was very rude and saying it was disclosed in the email confirmation. I read the confirmation multiple times and it does not say they come early. This company is horrible. Avoid by all means if you want yo make your fight. I was lucky enough to hitch a ride with another shuttle company that just so happen to be there at the hotel getting someone else. They were awesome I would check with them first. After a decade or so of using DOTS frequently to go to the Orlando Airport, tho service has been for the most part quite reliable, if not always running a bit late (and sometimes way more than a bit)…I AM HAPPY to report, that this much-​needed service, is under new ownership/management…Mr. George Bowman is doing his best to turn this company into an efficient, reliable, and enjoyable experience… and I can vouch first hand, that if there is a major glitch, as I recently experienced, he will take personal responsibility to rectify the problem at all costs. It is obviously his goal to turn this into a first-​rate transportation service in the central Florida area.

I’ve used DOTS multiple times. They’re always on time, courteous and helpful, and RELIABLE. I tried another shuttle this past Christmas, and if, in the future, DOTS isn’t available, I will rent a car. I will never use another shuttle service again!

Looked at the website, called and made a reservation — very easy process and the person taking my call was polite and pleasant — Asked my flight information, told of the pick up time and where to go.
Arrived at the airport approx 45 mins before my pick up, was given a courtesy call and asked where I was located and told the driver would arrive in 5 mins — he did! Shuttle was a van, not a bus as shown on website. Driver was friendly, not very talkative and the service was quick and very affordable $ 25.00 one way pre-​pay special.
Travel a few times a year to Daytona and plan to begin using this service more often!

I have mixed feelings about DOTS.
— The staff is mostly friendly with a not-​so-​slight air of sarcasm.
— The shuttle departs and arrives timely. But the problem I have is the quality of the actual shuttle. The door constantly slaps against itself noisily the entire ride like there’s a zombie trying to get in. Every time the shuttle stops I become overwhelmed with fumes, and its hot and stuffy despite the air seemingly blowing around at full pressure. Thankfully I never visit during summer months but I sure as he’ll wouldn’t want to get on a plane after sweating my ass off for the hour long ride to the airport on a hot day. (hmmm, come to think of it that might explain the stains on the seats…)
So there u have it. For $ 25 you get to the airport on time, just not necessarily in the same condition…
You certainly can’t beat the price…

Beware: DOTS does not operate all the times listed on the Internet. I was in the Daytona area on business when I received a family emergency call at 8p and needed to catch a flight home from Orlando first thing the following morning. I went to DOTS website as the office was understandably closed at that time. Although it says, «Advance Reservations and Payment
Encouraged during normal business hours», it should read that reservations are required. The site indicates that they do not operate on Thanksgiving and Christmas; however, they should add that they do not operate all the shuttles listed.
The hotel where I stay offers shuttle service to DOTS, so I was dropped off at 5:00am for the 5:30am shuttle (site says to get there at least 15 minutes before departure as non-​reserved seats will be on a first-​come, first-​served basis). I sat there by myself and not being from Daytona, I was unaware of the area of town where the depot is, but quickly found out as catcalls came from passing cars (I am not a young chick, nor was dressed in any way that encouraged that). I sat there with 911 on my cellphone, just ready to push the call button if needed. Around 5:40a, an employee arrived. I did not approach her in an aggressive manner, yet she was none too friendly. She explained that they do not run all the shuttles unless they have reservations. I suggested that they put the information on a daily basis on their recorder (Our office is closed and will reopen at 7:30am. Tomorrow, July 10^th, the following shuttles scheduled to depart before 7:30a will not operate…) her response, «that would mean every night we would have to change the recording». Yes, it would also mean your customers would be well advised. I then suggested that they post a sign on the door so no one is left there. Had we seen a sign with the date that said which shuttles were cancelled, I would have known to return to the hotel and seek alternate arrangements. These suggestions were answered with, «that is not me; that is the office.» I simply asked her to pass that information on to the office so the next person doesn’t have to wait in vain. She became very nasty. I have used DOTS many times in the past with satisfaction, but the next time I am in the area, their competition will get my business.
DOTS: Please consider my suggestion as surely it was not passed on and it really could help your Customer Service.
