Simply Dog A icious

New hot dog place in Dayton. Unfortunately I don’t think it will last long without some major changes.
The décor of the place is alright, if a little spartan. When you walk in the register is right in front of you in the center. On both sides it becomes a counter with room for eight on each side. There are another two tables for four each. It’s very loud in there — AC must be going full blast, and it’s hard to hear once you sit down.
On to the food. Straight off the bat, I need to say it’s overpriced. If prices came down about a dollar for each hot dog I’d think it was fair.
Selection — they do have an okay selection as far as the hot dogs go. They have a base hot dog. After that they have a Nathan’s for a little more. They also have a couple of other selections including a chorizo dog, Ditka Polish Sausages (these things are huge, one should take care of you with a side) and another type I can’t remember. I didn’t ask much about the add-​ons, but I know there was chili available, even in a bowl if you want it. I was offered sauerkraut but declined. I did like the fact that they used Vienna hot dog rolls with the poppy seeds on them.
The chorizo dog was not good. I have a feeling it was a Johnsonville Chorizo and it had gristle in it. I didn’t even finish it. The Nathan’s was what you’d expect, and the Ditka Polish — I said it was huge right? I’m not kidding about that — had some decent snap to it.
I really wanted to like this place — I try to support small businesses. If it survives a few more months maybe I’ll come back to see if things changed, but at the prices they’re asking, I seriously doubt it will.
