Specialties
University Retirement Community is a fully accredited, not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community. All of our programs have been carefully designed to provide you with the services, amenities, and activities you want to enjoy now – along with those you may need later. As a CCRC, University Retirement Community offers the following levels of care and support: residential living, assisted living, memory care, care giving, skilled nursing care, and a variety of other health and wellness programs.
URC’s Medicare Certified Health Care Center provides compassionate skilled nursing and rehabilitation for individuals who are temporarily or permanently in need of such services. Residents of the Health Care Center are provided with accommodations, skilled nursing care as needed, a full activities program, and three meals a day plus snacks. Residents also have access to specialized services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and laboratory services. URC is one of the few CCRCs in the country to have earned five stars in all categories by Medicare.
History
Established in 1995.
The effort to build University Retirement Community was spearheaded by Davis citizens who wanted to build a Continuing Care Retirement Community in their town. In 1993, they formed a non-profit organization, the Davis Senior Housing and Care Continuum, which raised funds to finance and construct a CCRC. DSHCC and the newly formed Board of Directors of University Retirement Community at Davis selected Pacific Retirement Services (Medford, OR) to oversee the planning, construction, and management of this new senior community. The first of nearly 400 residents began moving into the new community in February 2000.
