We offer more than 400 domestic and imported cheeses, along with a wide selection of wines and spirits, with cheese specialists and wine stewards on hand to help guests find their perfect pairings. Our artisan bakeries feature some of the finest breads and sweets, and our coffee and juice bars offer organic coffee and all-​natural juices and smoothies. Nugget Markets also offers a full line of organic, ethnic, specialty and conventional grocery products so you can find everything you need in one place.

History

Established in 1926.

Nugget Markets was founded by the father and son team, William and Mack Stille, in Yolo County in 1926. Now with the fourth and fifth generations at the helm, we still strive to provide all our guests with an extraordinary grocery experience. In the early 1990s, Nugget Markets was one of the first grocery stores to offer our guests homemade meal solutions (entrees, salads and sides), on-​site wine stewards, an expanded wine selection, artisan breads and pastries and desserts baked fresh daily. Today, Nugget Markets operates nine stores in the Greater Sacramento Valley and three stores in Marin County.

Laura joined Nugget Markets in 2007 and has worked in a variety of departments, from bookkeeping to our coffee bars to our delis. She most enjoys the time she gets to spend serving our guests and working side by side with her fellow associates. Laura is also an avid traveler who loves exploring the world on her vacations.

My first time at this Nugget, as I typically go to the one on Covell. Smaller, but still a nice selection. I am always impressed by the level of customer service at Nugget Markets. Really top-​notch. It may be surprising that my favorite sandwiches in Davis come from a grocery store, but the variety and quality can’t be beat. I ordered a build-​your-​own ham and cheese on croissant and was pleasantly surprised that there was no up-​charge for a croissant. $ 6.99 for lunchtime satisfaction. Primarily I came for their outstanding 50% off bulk bin deal, a two-​day special offered to email subscribers. I definitely recommend signing up for their email list to get weekly coupons. While I can’t afford to make Nugget my primary grocery store, I’ll gladly patronize them as often as I can for surprisingly good specials, sandwiches, and specialty goods. Plus their company donates produce to the UC Davis «Fruit and Veggie Up.» Just one way they give back to the community.

She is a high class person and a top notch manager, full of energy and enthusiastim, always with a wonderful smile on her face. Adrienna in the bakery spent as much time as I needed on the phone this morning going over all my options for a cake. It’s for a special occasion and I really appreciated her taking the time.
Every single time I’m in this nugget I have a good experience. The teams are friendly and helpful, the store is well stocked and easy to maneuver. But I truly think it’s the teams friendliness that keeps me coming back.

I just left Nugget Market in Davis and I’m appalled! I swung by to pick up a couple quick snacks since I’m on a road trip. I went to the rest room then grabbed groceries and headed to the clerk. Upon checkout I realized I left my wallet wasn’t in my purse and I had left it in the car. I asked my friend to run to the car to retrieve it while I wait with the clerk to purchase my $ 5.61 grocery bag of things. Then I realized I have my checkbook.
I asked the clerk if I can write a check and he says yeah. So I wrote a check. Then he says can I see your ID. I said yeah sure but that’s in my wallet so you still have to hold then. I said what do you need? He said your DL#, I give it to him since I memorize it. Then he goes and your birth date. I say that aloud too. Then he goes I need management…
So management comes. I’m confused to why this is escalating. Then the manager says sorry we can’t take this check your address is in SoCal. I said excuse me? He says yeah it says «Wells Fargo» at the bottom and the top has your address in SoCal.
I say, «Well, it says Wells Fargo, because it’s a Wells Fargo personal check… And that’s not SoCal…»
He says, «Where’s Riverbank?! We can only accept checks from the local area. We don’t even accept checks from Sacramento»
LIKE WHAT?! Anyone who ever used a check knows that just doesn’t make sense… I’ve never felt so discriminated in my life.

This market is so adorable! It’s really organized and sometimes it’s even fun to just walk around and browse. The staff is really friendly and never hesitate to help when you need it! There’s some days were the porkchop is seriously cheap! The cheapest I got was 5 reasonably cut slices for $ 4! They also have a variety selection of beer, like lots of selection! :O
I’ve never tried their sandwiches yet but it looks so gooood! The next time I’m in the area, I will definitely be getting one!

I love this place. They have everything; they just do not have enormous quantities of everything. Their prices are usually comparable to the Safeway off of Cowell. Their service is great. However, they do not have travel size items. You are better off going to Target for that anyway, though.
They also have a fantastic craft beer selection. Hands down the best reason to come here.

Everytime I come to this Nugget location I am always pleased with the staff & how friendly/​helpful they are! This visitation SABRAH the cheese queen definitely helped me out with my selection of cheeses… she was very genuine & bubbly… made me feel so comfortable… i bought a baguette, a couple of blue cheeses & a delicious fig spread mmmmmmmm…“thanks for your time & energy SABRAH… you were so patient with me & I can see your passion through your work! Goodluck in all you do…” This nugget ROCKS!

Personally, «upscale blah blah blah» crap doesn’t really cut it. I don’t mind if you pull my food from a sanitary garbage can– if it tastes delicious, that’s all that counts. It’s funny to see people claiming that they do «upscale» things.
That being said, this appears to be an attempt at an upscale market. Not the top of the top, (cough cough… Draeger’s Market, etc.) but beyond your average supermarket in terms of quality of goods and services.
From «cute» things like wine in a can to really decent looking heirloom tomatoes, this place tries… and it shows. There are multiple food items prepared for consumption as well as a boatload of ingredients to concoct your own masterpiece!
It’s a little more expensive than your average grocery store. There may be a reason for that, however.

I work down the street from here. I never used to frequent a nugget store, but lately, because of where I work, I have been coming here for many of my lunches, or on the nights I’m working bell to bell, I’ve come for snacks.
This nugget is smaller than the one on covell, but it’s nicely stocked, and has plenty of lunch options for those who like variety. I have tried plenty of their sandwiches, cold dishes, and warm dishes, as well as their sushi. And the sushi is the only reason this place is getting one less star, for the quality of sushi here is inferior to the ones you can get from the Covell location.
The staff are friendly and helpful, they always make me feel very welcome, and on one occasion where I had problems with my card, they were very patient, and even saved my bill and what I had shopped for so that I could go take care of my problem and come back.
Try their rosemary steak sandwich, it’s absolutely delicious.

To the locals in the Davis area this might be just another average grocery store. To the people from out of town, like myself, Nugget Market is was like grocery store wonderland.
Besides being a very clean store and having a beautiful meat and fish counter, the main thing that really impressed me was the fact that they had Cowgirl Creamery cheeses. I recently visited the Cowgirl Creamery a few weeks prior and fell in love with the cheese. I have never seen the cheese being sold in any other store so when I saw a good selection at Nugget, a little burst of happiness filled me.
Not only do they sell Cowgirl Creamery cheese, but the woman who was working the little cheese display counter and passing out samples, knew all about the cheese I was excited about and herself was excited, and knowledgeable. Her name is Sabrah and she was just freaking awesome.
I wish I lived closer because I would be ecstatic to make local grocery store.

I accidentally spilled my Nugget coffee all over the floor when I was leaving and they let me grab another one! I was so embarrassed. My point is: the people who work here are great.

I absolutely love this place! This is a store filled with customer service driven employees. Even if Nugget is a little pricier than other stores for a poor college student like myself, the employees’ energy and love for their jobs make it a great experience every time I go in.
Christina in the cheese department will bend over backwards to find the yummy cheese you were looking for, even if you had no idea you were looking for it.
Julia is always smiling and it is contagious!
Jen in the bakery is the best! She saw me come in one day and tracked me down just to tell me that they had gotten in the single slices of a cake I LOVE.
I wish I knew more of their names because they deserve the recognition.
This Nugget is definitely doing something right and It shows in the quality of their food. I can always count on getting an amazing sandwich from the deli, a perfectly cut piece of meat from the meat department, a freshly picked fruit/​veggie, a perfectly sliced Ettore’s cake from the bakery or a perfectly prepared slice of cheese.

I love this place! The workers are so helpful and courteous. They’re quick and pay attention to the customers. Been coming here for nearly a decade. Rarely been in line longer than 2 minutes.
I love their deli and their bakery. Their cakes are beautiful and delicious. Sushi was not great but not awful, if you need a quick fix.

As other reviewers have mentioned, Nugget is basically a knock-​off of Whole Foods without its own ubiquitous product line. And although Nugget talks a good low-​price talk, it seldom delivers… excepting a couple times per month when, for example, a pint of Ben and Jerry’s is on sale for $ 3.
A few times per week I’ll get bagels and coffee in the morning (free single serving packets of cream cheese, ask the deli!) or ready-​to-​eat soup in the afternoon. Their soups are really THE BEST, especially the New England clam chowder. I also love their everything bagels.
Really, Nugget has a lot going for it, especially in the quality, selection, and customer service departments… but ultimately it’s just too expensive. It’s for this reason that I rarely do any kind of major shopping here.

Definitely a whole foods knockoff, but if you’re too lazy to drive to whole foods IT definitely makes due in a pinch. They have good salted almonds (better than whole foods)

I love the Nugget! And it’s so nice to have one in Davis to go to.
The workers are so nice and helpful and they have a wide variety of food, drinks, and groceries.
They also have somewhat of a cheese expert come in and let you try different types of cheese. AMAZING.
My biggest love is the sandwiches. (I don’t know if they still have it but Campus Coupons had a buy one get one free).
BUT, their sandwich makers are awesome and take their time with your order and their bread is to die for. The also toast everything up for you and send you on your way.

I love the people at Nugget Markets. They’re so friendly!
I was stopping in to grab something to eat before watching a softball game. I went by the deli counter and found a yummy looking panini. Turns out they heat them up and toast them for you on the spot! I got a chicken blue cheese panini. She did the toasting and added in some yummy greens to go with. The girl working at the counter was so cheerful!
My b/​f got a good looking sushi roll. I’m not big on grabbing Asian food at a grocery store, but this was probably the best sushi roll I have had from a supermarket, that’s for sure.
This place is super clean and staff is über friendly! Nice tables outside so you can sit and enjoy your food if you’re grabbing something from the deli. Good stuff.
