Had a tail light go out on my car last week. They were able to replace the bulb for $ 3 and had me on my way in less than 10 minutes. Thanks so much!

Honestly this is the worst repair service I’ve ever had. I took in my mini for misfire, stalling, and a rough idle. The first time they cleaned it for carbon buildup and changed the spark plugs. 2 days later it was doing the exact same thing. I obviously took it back since it did nothing to fix the problem. They didn’t charge me for labor the second time and only parts. Turns out there was a cracked boot. The idle is less rough but it is still having the same issue. How could they not notice a cracked part the first time in the shop? The problem is still ongoing. They obviously did not check all the possible solutions to the problem. I will not be returning here. After spending $ 1,000 and multiple trips to the shop.
The customer service was nice. The owner and Jared were really nice and explained things to me. They also called me every step of the way and my car was returned on time. However, the problem remains. I spent a lot of money to have my car looked at and not get a solution. it’s frustrating to have wasted my time and money! I would have rather they told me they could not fix the problem. I didn’t need to have unnecessary things done to my car.

Last weekend my car died on the causeway on my way to a wedding… on a SATURDAY! To add to my freak out, I’m not from the immediate area I didn’t know of anywhere to take it. The tow truck driver suggested Davis Imports and Auto since get this, they are OPEN ON SATURDAYS (yay) and he has worked with them before.
Boy am I glad that my car was taken there! Bob was amazing. I was so worried that my car was going to cost me an arm and a leg and that I would somehow have to figure a way to get back to Davis to pick it up sometime the next week. Bob went above and beyond started the diagnostic and noticed that a coil had simply come unplugged, he then promptly called me and was so accommodating. He said he was going to actually be at the shop picking up things, Sunday and he would be happy to stay so I could pick my car up. When I got there to pick it up he even took the time to show me where exactly the coil was so in the off chance it happened again (which it didn’t) on my way home I would know how to fix it! BIG THANK YOU TO YOU, BOB!!!

Super nice guys, willing to explain everything to me and be patient when my subaru broke down in Davis on a road trip. Not the cheapest shop ever but they know what they’re doing. However I did call other places in Sac and their estimates couldn’t compare. Also their customer bathrooms saved my life. RIP Ol’ ‘ru.

We took our Honda Passport to replace the starter. The folks there were friendly and I appreciated the fact that they start business early so that I could get this squared away quickly. They got the car repaired and back to us by 4:00 PM.
The cost for repair was fair as compared to
but ‘m giving them 2 stars for charging additional labor (¹⁄₃ total labor costs) to diagnose the problem. It was clearly a starter problem as I explained earlier how it slowly died and that the battery voltage dipped but only dipped to 11.5 volts when the ignition key was turned to start the car. I should have challenged them on the diagnosis charge but didn’t.

I’ve been to other repair shops here in Davis. This particular location has great employees with enthusiasm and good customer service. Right next to the Davis police station, across UVD apartments. Super close to the A and Z lines for Unitrans, so I was able to get back to campus right away without my moving castle (my car of course). They even offer you a ride (with your own car if it works, I guess) to wherever you need to go while they do repairs that take forever.

I finished fixing up the car headlamps, the wipers, and they yes, «fixed» the brakes. I absolutely had no problem with the replacement and the fees associated with them, as these headlamp and windshield wipers were needed (around $ 60-​ish). However, my biggest problem was the brakes as they were making funny noises. I took my car to see if they can diagnose anything, and I was charged over $ 50 for just diagnosis – my car was returned without doing any fixes or adjustments on the brakes. I was told that there was nothing wrong with them, so why was I charged so much for a check?
It was on the brighter side that they couldn’t find anything wrong with them. But to charge so much for a check, I don’t know if I can call this good business.
I went to another location out of town for the same problem, where they charged me far less, and fixed the causative agent of the weird grinding noise from those brakes.
So in short. I spent over $ 100…to replace my windshield wipers, my headlamps… and the brakes.
So, 1 star for customer satisfaction. :(

I really liked the employees but what makes a business complete also means fair charges for what was done. I was also quite bummed out, as the Unilocal reviews were really, really good. I unfortunately won’t be coming back unless absolutely necessary.

An excellent and honest business. My «check engine» light came on the other day so I brought my car in. I was greeted by a man named Bob, who brought a meter to my car, briefly inspected it, told me my car was fine, and had me on my way within 20 minutes — completely free of charge and no BS. I’m very pleased with this business and will definitely be returning for future inquires.

Last weekend, my car started making funny noises. This shop is the only one open on Saturdays in Davis so I called first thing in the morning.
Bob answered and said he was probably too busy to fix it that day (most mechanics might take your car anyways and make you wait until the end of the day or even Monday) but that I could drop by so he could take a quick look.
Despite his busy schedule, Bob came out right away car and identified the problem almost immediately. He also told me it wasn’t too serious and I could drive it safely to get it fixed back home. I really appreciate him taking the time to assess my car and for giving me good honest advice at no charge.
5 stars for customer service, honesty, knowledge of the field, convenience (open on Saturdays). I will definitely be coming back should I have any other car problems in Davis –hopefully not anytime soon!

I came here about a year ago to get an oil change. They did a thorough job in checking my car and telling me things i should consider. I remember leaving this place feeling very satisfied and definitely the best car service I received. I even recommended it to some people and plan to come here again.

I took my BMW here for a fan issue and to repair a door lock that wasn’t working. Work was completed quickly and I believe it was a fair price.
They were friendly, the office was an organized mess but as long as they know where everything is, that’s fine. They have a dog that just layed quietly the whole time I was at the counter. I got a real comfortable feeling, like taking your car to Dad’s garage.

I used my Groupon voucher 2 months ago and had a poor experience.
I had scheduled both my boyfriend’s and my appointments a week beforehand for 12PM. When we showed up, the guy at the front desk was really unhappy about having an appointment during lunch time and even told us. That was a HUGE turn off. Why should a customer EVER receive a complaint about him/​herself from the employee? It wasn’t even our faults.
After servicing our cars, the same guy told me he couldn’t find my spare tire. I have no idea what he was talking about, given that a drive a freaking CRV and the spare tire is stuck onto the trunk on the outside of the car. We also had a question for him, but he replied in a way that made us look stupid and implied that we should know everything there is to know about cars. He’s the one who’s the «professional,» not us.
I was looking forward to going because of the reaaally good reviews but was surprised by the service I got. Definitely not coming back here.

Bob is so nice and helpful. He did a great job on my oil change. Will definitely recommend to my friends and family.

One of the biggest down falls of owning a nice car, is having it get serviced. And, having an AMG, repairs and routine serviced maintenance can get pricey, OK, really pricey!
Davis Import Auto Service, I’m truly happy you are in business. After going there once, twice will be tomorrow :), i know my car and it’s diagnosis will be in good hands!

My son hit an animal who had dashed in front of his car on the highway en route from Oregon to Southern California late on a Friday night. We looked on Unilocal for a place with good reviews that was open on a Saturday morning so he could get home that day. We found Davis Import Auto Service. Bob spent at least 45 minutes helping my son get his car in good enough condition so that he could drive the 6 additional hours home and didn’t charge him a dime! He also explained the best way to drive the car in order to get to his destination.
At first I felt helpless that he was alone so far from home but I couldn’t have been happier knowing that Bob cared enough to get a college kid home safely. He was terrific! We highly recommend his shop.

I WANT to give folks high marks but I have to say I was happy overall but could have had a slightly better marks
GOOD SIDE: I had routine maintenance performed and all was done correctly (or so I assume).
BAD SIDE: The final charge however on what already was a pricey bill was MORE than what was initially quoted. Bob charged me more than what the bill was originally quoted or told to me by Jared (?sp)
I didn’t put up a stink but it was probably an additional 14% to the already large bill…
OTHER SIDE: Additional stinky thing: THEY USE YOUR PHONE # try and add you to automatic lists for getting «reapir updates» (and who knows what else)… I DON’T want to be on any freakin’ auto repair list or gettting text messages from NAPA or any other auto repair entity… PLUS I think its disingenuine to not disclose that they do this when they take your information at the onset. If I want to OPT IN after disclosure while you are getting my information fine, but don’t add me to some texting service without my knowledge… NOT COOL.

I am relatively new to Davis and when the service light came on in my car, I had no idea where to take it. So I went online and looked up reviews of different mechanics in Davis. Davis Import Auto Service didn’t have that many reviews, but the ones it have did were all glowing.
Well, I just returned from taking my car to Davis Import and I’m adding my praise to the list. He checked out my car and told me that the light just meant it was due for a routine checkup, which I had already taken care of last November. He didn’t try to pressure me to get any other services and he reset the light for me and sent me on my way, free of charge.
I didn’t actually have work done on my car, but the service and integrity of Davis Import Auto Service was enough to convince me to take my car there in the future whenever I need repairs. What a great place!

I took my car in to get a headlight replaced, and left with a bill that was under $ 20. They also explained that another issue I had with my car was purely cosmetic, and fixing it would cost at least a few hundred dollars; other shops I’ve been to simply told me how much it would cost to fix it. Try this place out.

This place rocks the only under 100 dollar oil change in Davis for my BMW they charge around 65 – 70 dollars. The owner Bob is nice to work with to. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT

This mechanic shop is as good as it gets. Bob (I believe he is the owner) has on many occasions been more than wiling to spend 15 – 30 minutes explaining, checking, and diagnosing (for example, calling for parts availability) my car for me.
Even more amazing, three times now I have brought in my car, had him check something out, and when I return and ask him how much I owe him, he says, «no charge, the part wasn’t that expensive.» Wow! Even after I insist, he won’t write up a receipt so I finally end up giving him whatever cash I have in my pocket. I know he does this with other people, so please do not take advantage of him and bring some cash when you see him.
Bob and his mechanics are also extremely knowledgeable. He has on several occasions explained things or knows techniques that other mechanics have said were very expensive or impossible. Two examples are changing lights in the dash (VW dealer said it would require removing the entire dashboard and cost 100’s of dollars, Bob did it for $ 25 without removing the dash), and fixing my oil drainplug hole that either JiffyLube or Spee-​Dee stripped out (VW dealer said $ 400 for a new oilpan or an unreliable insert that fails 70% of the time, Bob fixed it for $ 68 with a different reliable insert).
