I just recently came across this park as I was biking and exploring my neighborhood(I’m new to Davis). I really enjoyed how large and serene this park is! I am glad that there are places here where you can go to relax, sleep, picnic, job, bike, and enjoy being outside. I love the sculptures and the pond and everything about this park.

Covell park is one of those great things about living in Davis; not only is it a great collection of parks, strange public art, and a fun place to bike, jog, or what have you, it’s also a pretty good way to get around north Davis. It’s full of places to have a picnic, and since the open container law doesn’t apply to much of it, feel free to bring along a bottle of wine or beer. On cool summer nights, wander around and stare at the bizarre sculptures that litter the greenbelt, dogs, dominos and other things, stranger still. Or my favorite part of all, the playground behind the tennis courts. It brings joy to my soul to think that such a playground can exist in this world, as it was clearly designed by someone who had never heard of a lawsuit before. Everything spins, turns, or in some other way conspires to injure children(of all ages). Even as an adult, it’s difficult to comprehend the thought processes that went in to building it, but it sure is fun to try. I have yet to find another play structure with such callous disregard for health and safety, or one that I like quite so much.
