Love Bedr’e, these are the best chocolates made!

Heard about this place next to the name plate hotel in this area, thought would be a nice cooling treat place.
Found out we missed the extensive crowds of the previous day attending an art festival, but we did not miss out on the result of the gigantic crowds in that the menu was a bit restricted because they had run out of many things.
No matter, we ordered a couple of Arbuckle Shakes made with milk chocolate ice cream rather than the normal vanilla.
Actually…I probably would have asked them to make it with chocolate ice cream anyway, as this shake also includes pieces of their signature milk chocolate caramel bar, plus whipped cream striped with caramel topping. To me, chocolate just works better in this combination.
Anyway, we also ordered a strawberry shake and a double scoop of cookie dough ice cream on a waffle cone.
The strawberry shake was proclaimed… best ever!
The cookie dough cone was good but not earth shattering, have had better.
So the Arbuckle shake… while tasty… it took an inquiry at the counter as to how small they grind up the included milk chocolate bar, as we couldn’t find any evidence of it in our Shakes.
Glad we were sitting at the 50’s style counter, as our shake preparer was standing right there… who said. OOPS! …and quickly provided us with a broken up bar pieces that they had a customer pull off a shelf into a half eaten shake.
So…the ice cream was good, service not so much, as it also took forever to simply get our ice cream cone and the place was more than half empty with three people behind the counter.
Maybe they were still experiencing the energy drain of big crowds from previous day… or maybe this is how it’s done in Sulphur late afternoon… hard to say.
One of our group said as we drove off… look, there’s a Braums, we could have gone there, I love their shakes… Hmmmm…

Bedré means «Better» in Norwegian.
So… Chocolate manufactured by the Chickasaw Nation using cacao grown in Central America and North Africa with a Norwegian brand name. In Davis, Oklahoma. They’re so close from representing every continent out there. Maybe shove a penguin, kangaroo, and a Bengal tiger into the logo somewhere and call it a day?
Bedré Fine Chocolate is… Fine. Actually, it’s better than fine. I mean yeah, it’s very touristy, and the prices reflect that, but the chocolate is delicious. Much better chocolate than what we as Americans consume on a regular basis. Hershey’s is crap, that’s right I said it.
I’m personally a big fan of the Hot Fudge Meltaways, which in my humble opinion is the only thing worth spending your money on, but others will tell you I’m wrong. Actually, the Mint and Caramel Meltaways are also quite delightful.
Gift bags, which include a random assortment of Meltaways (except Mint) are $ 15 for 40. If you buy just a handful of Meltaways, they are $ 0.40 a piece, which comes to $ 16 for 40. Yes, it’s one dollar more if you pick and choose your own flavors, but honestly, it’s probably worth it to just buy individual pieces, because that extra dollar spent ensures that you get only the flavors you want, and not the crap flavors like the Raspberry. Blecch. But the gift bag thing is nice, because… Gift bags. For gifts, you know? Oh right, sugar-​free gift bags are $ 17.
Prices are not cheap per se, but they’re not exorbitant either. Actually no, the Chocolate Crisps are quite inflated, and not worth the asking price. Yes, I’ve tasted them, and no a tiny Pringles-​sized can is not worth $ 10. But the Meltaways are totally worth it. We bought three gift bags and it totaled $ 47. If we weren’t entirely lazy, we could have bought individual pieces and gift-​wrapped them ourselves.
Also, definitely don’t buy the coffee or the chocolate soda at this factory location. For whatever reason, they’re significantly cheaper if you walk into the Chickasaw Travel Stop just across the street. When I say significantly cheaper, I mean the coffee was $ 4 cheaper for the same bag, and a 4-​pack of soda bottles was also cheaper, although I can’t remember by how much now.
Anyway, long story long, Bedré has good gift options if/​when you’re visiting someone outside of Oklahoma.

Took a day trip on Spring Break; however, when we got there, they weren’t making anything in the plant, just a couple workers were cleaning. Cashier in the gift shop said they usually stop around 1:30pm.. We bought a variety of chocolates to take home with us. Great, smooth, tasty chocolate!

I am NOT a huge chocolate fan. Now, I will take my hand out of this bag; ease away from this wonderful chocolate meltaway; and will write this review.
My first experience with Bedre chocolates was the previous night at a wine and chocolate pairing. I’m wasn’t too keen on the concept, but it was a Unilocal Super-​elite event, so I trusted Unilocal.WOW. They did a wonderful job with the pairing. The combination of flavors milk chocolate — dark chocolate — raspberry filled — peanut butter filled — mint filled — and more. My taste buds were sooooo happy.
The following day found me taking a brief tour of the store and looking through the windows while listening to an explanation of how this delightful variety of chocolate delights were made.
If you are in the area try a little or try a lot, you won’t be disappointed.
WAIT! The price! extremely reasonable. My wife and I bought a healthy amount of chocolate. It should have been about $ 50. At their normal price, it was around $ 30.
The only sad part was that all of the goodies were not for us. We (Okay, I really me «I».) have to share. I guess this just means that we will have to go back.

Delicious! The staff was super friendly and the chocolate is tastey! Definitely a nice little place to stop. The parking lot was large with easy access to the highway. The prices were fair. Four chocolate bars and a couple handfuls of the little melt — a — ways for 6 dollars.

Delicious. Nice variety of chocolates. Got some chocolate bars, some Oklahoma shaped milk chocolates, and some chocolate covered pringles. Looks like we found another place to stop whenever we drive south on I-​35.

A random chocolate factory outlet outside OKC. We were driving back to OKC from Dallas and saw that they had free samples, so we went in. We tried the fudge (sample), and some milk and white chocolate bricks. It’s pretty decent chocolate in a nice store with good service. I tried the chocolate soda too, but it tasted too much like root beer (which I detest,) so not my cup of tea.
Worth of a stop if you are on a long drive; it’s good break with chocolate and an outdoor playground. There isn’t any tax either!
