Just had a great ride on Amtrak from Fresno to Sacramento. The fee was so small, one could not drive that distance using gas. It was a good relaxing time I will repeat for a no worry experience.

Excellent location and a block away from shopping and dining in Downtown Davis. The campus is just a 5 – 10 minute walk away and there’s an excellent walk path at the Arboretum (2.5 miles up and back).

Passed thru a few stations between Roseville and Emeryville. First time traveling on the Capital Corridor and had a relaxing ride. The schedule was confusing and had to take the bus into San Francisco. Convenient for a short family getaway.

Just another train station? Or is it something more?
This station looks like its been teleported from the wild west into the present. This station is kept clean and always looks pretty (on the outside at least). The whole ticket process can be done online, so I’ve never gone in the actual building. Tickets can be scanned off your phone so you don’t have to print it either. At $ 31 to go from Davis to the Bay Area, its not the cheapest method, but its actually nicer than sitting in a regular car.
The train is newer than I expected with nice seats, headrest covers and AC. There’s even a snack bar in case you’re traveling long distances. Seats with full on tables and power outlets are also available so you can do some work (or write Unilocal reviews like I’m doing) while enjoying the scenic open lands along Capitol Corridor.

Amtrak has its fair number of issues. Customer service on the phone takes forever. One of their train attendants on Capitol Corridor habitually gives me attitude and treats me like I’m stupid. The food isn’t exactly restaurant-​tier, there are (more than) occasional train delays, and the WiFi is pretty bad. So why do I take it?
I don’t have a car, and am in a long distance relationship. My family, friends, and girlfriend live in San Francisco. This is one of the few affordable methods of transportation I have to see them.
And I enjoy it greatly. There is something about talking a train that makes you feel like you are going on an exciting to, even if it’s a regular commute. I really don’t get tired of hearing the trains roll by near my home. Amtrak brings me a lot of dear memories.
It’s a comfortable, scenic ride. It is smooth for someone like me who gets motion sickness easily. And while the food isn’t the best, there are plenty of options. You can meet interesting people, too. I have found ALL the shuttle bus drivers to be very nice and hilarious.
While it’s a bit pricey, it is more affordable than flying and it goes to all the major cities around California and beyond. You can bring your bike with you or park it for free at the station, which is nice for us Davis riders.
There are a lot of things I hope to see improved with Amtrak. But I have a lot of love for it and will continue to take it to see the people who are important to me. So if you have somewhere far you need to go, get a ticket and climb aboard!

Sorry the station is old world charming, clean and well kept. Having tracked here two months, I’ve changed my thoughts about the staff:
1) purchased monthly pass with an agent who said my credit card was declined. Uh, passed with flying colors at the Emeryville Station same day;
2) purchased a ticket to Sunnyvale and had to ask for a receipt;
3) purchased the return ticket and my bad, didn’t get a receipt again. The Davis agent couldn’t find my receipt even with my FF number and credit card. The Boss of Me (my analyst) retrieved immediately; and
4) they really don’t give a sh*t from what I’ve seen how they treat other customers. Me, I could care less.
As my son would say about 7 – 11 workers, «Dad, this is the best job they can get.»

Took the Capitol Corridor Amtrak from Davis to Fremont. Bought ticket online, so my ticket was printable– didn’t even have to go inside the station.
Discount BART tickets were available on that train as well.

im giving a 2 because it is difficult to find out if the bike parking is free and can we get a lock from them or bring our own lock or do they charge does anyone know?
the phone number just sends you to a automated system and its hard to get to talk to a human… lame for such a small station

The Amtrak bus driver became more helpful as the morning continued. And another bus driver told me the Southbound Coast Starlight usually runs late with the train I would have been on arriving at least 4 hours late!

The basics: After a night out in Davis I hopped the train to head back to Sacramento. The station is right next to downtown so you can easily walk right over (or stumble) to hop the train. There is a staff member on site working the ticket counter I believe until midnight and there is a nice little area to sit inside and relax while you wait on your train to arrive. I chose to hang out by the tracks and wait and enjoy the nice evening. There aren’t any special amenities here, but hey it is a train station what are you expecting?
What works: Proximity to the action in Davis
What to improve: Get rid of some of the transients hanging out bothering people
The short version: If you have to catch a train it gives you the availability to sit inside in a lit and staffed location to wait. Not too bad of a station all in all.

This is such a cute little train station! There’s a few restaurants, Café’s, bakeries, shops near by. It’s located in downtown Davis. Dropped off a friend here. Since he was going to Oakland for an A’s game, he got 25% off (must purchase inside with the operator) ! So definitely let them know if you’re a student or heading towards a special event, maybe there will be a discount :) The train schedule was a bit off so I recommend coming at least 15 minutes earlier and checking the schedule online.

Amtrak’s «E-​Ticket» On-​Line Scheduling Excellent
I’ve been making arrangements to travel down to Southern California by train from Davis to Oceanside, and have had to make repeated changes to my itinerary; each time, I’ve found Amtrak’s «My Trip» link to be very useful and inexpensive. I’m even able to print my e-​tickets right at home! Thanks Amtrak! (Note: Amtrak is like many other trains, it has to make way for freight; so, there are times when it doesn’t run on time. So, train travel is what it is, but this level of convenience with the On-​Line site is truly excellent!)

Occasionally the trains are late due to some malfunction or another. But that ha only happened to me 2 or 3 times out of the four years I’ve ridden the train. Usually very prompt and I love that they depart so frequently. I wish I took more advantage of the lower prices three years ago and I would defiantly use it more if it were $ 13 instead of $ 16.

No matter how tiring it is to travel between Sacramento and San Francisco everyday, this station and its staff always bring a smile to my face. The staff is friendly and always willing to help you find your way.
What’s more is the station has a great historical Spanish colonial look!!! It is also clean and have plenty of parking if you are early enough.

Great way to travel to the Bay. The wetlands behind Fairfield and Vacaville are gorgeous, and I love traveling through the old C&H sugar factory.
The food service is inconsistently stocked, and the «wifi» cuts out, but I trust they’ll work out the kinks since it’s a newer service.
Yes, it’s expensive, but I did the math and it only costs $ 10 more to take the train roundtrip than it does to drive and park in the East Bay or Bay area with gas, parking, and tolls. Worth it not to deal with the crazy drivers on the freeway.
The commuter 10-​pass cuts the price in half, and the app is pretty pleasing.

I travel a lot on Amtrak to visit my boyfriend in Davis. One thing I love about this station is that it’s a block away from Starbucks and several other places for me to grab some grub!
The station itself Is very clean and for me, i never have to worry about being robbed or something. haha There is a station to purchase tickets + They also have a kiosk outside and two inside the station. In my opinion, i like this station a lot more than the Richmond or Oakland Colosseum locations.

There seems to be a lot of people giving 1 – 2 stars to the Davis Amtrak based on their experience of an unpleasant train ride. RIDICULOUS! I’m rating the actual Amtrak Station and the tracks, I could unfairly pick ANY station & give it one star because I encountered a rude conductor or arrived as the café was closing.
Vending machine, TV & ticket desk in the waiting area. I prefer to wait outside, no matter the weather. There are restaurants & a movie theater within walking distance.
When the train is stopped in Davis, your view will either be of the nice little station or a broken down fence in front of several shacks with laundry, pans & other junk stacked on the dirt ground. I’m not sure who lives here? It’s a little awkward to be so close to their living space. I could probably kick off my shoe and make it to the second or third shack in.
I’m giving this station 5 stars because it’s clean, safe & pleasant.

This is the best way to get from Davis to SF (avoiding all the speed traps in Vallejo). I use it all the time when I have to go to HQ in SF. I usually take the Amtrak — Capital Corridor train, get off at Richmond, go downstairs to buy my BART ticket and then get on BART to SF. Usually takes about almost 2 hours to get there (yes it’s faster to drive) but you get to sleep and eat and work/​play on the computer. If I could get to work all the time like this, I would.
Oh yeah, cell phone reception and 3g internet for your lappy is almost non-​existent once you get to Vallejo.
