I live in Sacramento but I take my consignment and donated items to Right and Relevant
because of the support they provide to the ten agencies in Yolo county. Not to mention the great merchandise I find in the store!

I have been consigning items at this store for over 5 years. I rarely purchase items-​but you can find a few nice items if you check the inventory frequently. As a consigner you donate 60% of the purchase price to R and R to support their charities. I am happy with this arrangement. The reason for the low rating is the unprofessional and lackadaisical method in pricing consigned items. I generally consign clothes, shoes and small household items. These items are priced to sell, which means a handbag that I purchase for several hundred dollars and is in good used condition will sell for about $ 15.00.
During the past 5 years I have consigned 3 items, which I told them were quite expensive and that I wanted a reasonable sale price-​usually about $ 50.00, which would mean my net would be $ 20.00.
In all three of these cases, I was assured that they would do so, and IF THEY COULD NOT HONOR MY REQUEST THEY WOULD CALL ME AND I COULD PICK IT UP. The first item was our son’s leather jacket, which cost $ 500. He out grew too quickly. They apparently «lost» it or said it was stolen. The second was a pair of expensive (too large for me) lapis lazuli earrings that they sold for $ 10.00 and I found out after the fact. The most recent issue occurred several weeks ago. I brought in my great-grandmother’s American Brilliant Punch Bowl with an accompanying pedestal and 6 matching cups. I asked Miguel to have someone from R and R call me if they could not sell it for at least $ 50.00. I told him that I had seen several sell on eBay for between $ 250 and $ 350. He said he would. I visited the shop a week later and did not see it displayed. After I inquired about it, I was told they would do a «search» and try to find out where it was. Two weeks, and three calls later, I was told that it sold for $ 11.00 they day after my first inquiry.
When I talked to Lynn she was very curt with me and told me that punch bowls did not sell well. This was an absolutely gorgeous brilliant cut glass bowl set. It was an antique of fine quality. I told her about my conversation with Miguel. She said he was a student and would be leaving soon. She also said that I should have talked to someone «in charge». I told her that he said that he would relay my request. She told me to show her one on eBay on my phone-​which I did. She just shrugged and said that it was sold and that they need to move items. I also told her that I thought it was very odd that it sold the DAY AFTER my inquiry, yet it was not on display when I asked about it initially. Lynn told me that the people who price consignment items are experts. This is a joke. So-​if you are a consignor DO NOT expect that your items will be fairly priced or that you will be treated with civility. Do not consign any item that you are not prepared to have ridiculously priced. This was a pleasant shop to do business with in its early days, but most of the folks who now work or volunteer at R and R are unpleasant and unprofessional.

I love this place! I’ve found a few great treasures and to be honest most of my office wardrobe I’ve purchased here.
The reason for the four stars is because I feel they lack a bit of knowledge with brands. I’ve seen cheap branded dresses priced higher than a department store and pricey brands for a deal.
Other than that the store is clean, organized and the staff is super friendly. I can’t say much as a consignment seller because I’ve only purchased :)

I saw one thing I liked here and everything else here was whatever. I wish the store was more cultivated. A lot of things seem out to date and not very vintage. However, I know running a business is hard and hopefully the owners are trying their hardest to get great things. The prices also tend to be a little too high which is why I always end up waiting.

The reason I’m giving this place a low rating is because of the rudeness of a staff member. I was yelled at for walking through a wide open door to get to another part of the store through another whose open door. After going all the way through, an older woman at the first door yelled at me across the room that this was a room for employees only and I should’ve gone outside then back in. I thought that was really uncalled for that she appeared so upset since I’d already gotten to the other door and there was no «employees only» sign.

I love this place and have found so many great deals here. I am both a seller and buyer and delight in finding new fun items. The Facebook site is also nice as it posts new weekly items that come in each week. The items I find here are in good shape, typically ironed, and without holes. I feel like they have a good system and their website is also a great guide. Fabulous fun!

We have been coming here for over twenty years. Although we don’t live in Davis anymore, we stop by for a visit when we roll into town. We have found many items, from my husband’s wedding tuxedo, to clothes and toys for the kids, to two comfortable leather chairs we recently moved into our living room. I have scored both casual and business clothes from their well-​ordered racks. If you look, R&R may have just what you, or your home needs.
Plus, their higher purpose is commendable: Contributing to local mental health organizations and providing a place for their clients to work. Thank you, R&R and your team of volunteers.

I like supporting up-​cycled, used clothing stores. I myself can always find a fabulous item here. I like the staff and it’s always great to support a worthy cause.
On that note, I only give R&R three stars as a rating because it seems that the prices are higher than retail. Example a used pair of gap skinneys will cost 13.00 (it’s less expensive to buy them new on clearance) a Jessica McClintock dress was priced at 42 dollars? Really? Seems kinda steep for used clothing.
It’s a great place to donate to, wether they choose to place your items on the sales floor is a different thing entirely. And unfortunately they don’t tell you if they accept your clothing, housewares for consignment or just sell it for next to nothing on the other side of the store (their clearance section I believe).
All in all, it is what it is. Stock is always changing so chances are, you can find a little gem every now and again.

Overpriced!
I will not be returning. The store was clean and laid out nicely, so that is where the 2 stars come from. But for a thrift store, $ 10 for a pair of used shoes that are cracked and dirty is crazy. The children’s books were $ 3, which is $ 2.50 too high. I had a whole stack ready before a volunteer told me they were marked in the back. $ 3 for a book originally $ 4.99? We browsed the kids clothes and it seems the process have no idea what things are worth. There was a Janie and Jack dress for $ 5 (retail $ 50+) which would have been a bargain if it fit my daughter, but next to it was a Target brand item for the same price. Looking at the women’s clothing left something to be desired, they all seemed to be older styles but with high prices. I don’t mind a «quality» rack with nicer things and a higher price, I will pay more for that, but for everything to be marked up is just sad.

A typical consignment type outlet with a thrift outlet next door. The quality of merchandise is okay, but limited for men and large items. Worth the visit.

TL;DR
1. Prices are NOT dirt cheap, but they DO represent the quality of the items.
2. There are many options for women apparel, but slightly less for men’s.
3. The personnel/​employees are so sweet and helpful if you’re looking for specific things.
4. I love their space: clean and well-​organized, especially their dressing rooms.
5. THEY HAVE SEE’S CANDIES!!! only place in Davis and for MILES.
REVIEW
I came here because I was by the post office, Unilocaled a thrift store (needed a new light jacket), and discovered that Right and Relevant is actually just by the traffic circle near the police station on the way to Sudwerks or Target/​TJMaxx. What a nice surprise :)
*Disclaimer: I shopped for women’s clothing (jackets/​sweaters/​pants/​shoes). Therefore, my review mostly applies to the women’s clothing categories :)
STORE ENVIRONMENT
When I walked in, I got pretty excited because of how clean and NEAT everything was — nearly department-​store-​style clothing arrangement. Organized by size and categories, the clothes were arranged on circular racks and easy-​ready-​tagged for convenient browsing.
Their motion-​sensor-​lighting dressing rooms are vintage-​cute and have vintage chairs wooden chairs. Also, for those waiting outside, they have the seats from an old movie theater/​lecture hall! Lol, so cozy and awesome.
ITEMS (CLOTHING/SEE’S CANDIES)
The women’s clothing section took up ¾th of the space, so about ~10 circular racks and a whole row of jeans, organized by size. For men, there were suits and ~5 racks of clothing, so much less of a selection (but still worth looking at!)
Also, as a random note… I really love See’s Candies, and THEY SELL IT! Those pretty packaged truffles! yummm.
PRICES
Again, compared to thrift market/​Yolo SPCA thrift store prices, the prices here are generally slightly higher. However, at Right and Relevant, prices were definitely more consistent with the item value here: pretty much everything looked nearly new, clean, and were brand name/​vintage items.
I personally think that the prices were more worth the finds of the vintage/​awesome sort — definitely much less of the F21/​Wet Seal/​Rue21/​Charlotte Russe clothing compared to the YSPCA thrift store downtown.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The employees here, especially the lady with the glasses, are pretty awesome. I purchased a brand new Clarks boot, and its sole completely disintegrated in the first 15 minutes I wore them (apparently, disintegrating soles in high-​end shoes happens if they’ve been in storage for too long!). Although their policy states that they don’t take refunds or exchanges, I went back to see if they could do something. The manager was understanding and gave me a quick refund. It’s always nice to see managers who care about their customers AND the store.
CAUSE
They are a non-​profit! Proceeds benefit mental health patients in Yolo County.
OVERALL
I may be biased because I found some really awesome things here, but after discovering this store… I am definitely going to be back for new finds :)

Prices go down over time so that is fun. Nice dressing room. Friendly staff. Designer brands in clothes at pretty reasonable prices. Furniture, books, dishes, etc. definitely a return customer.

I have been going here for years and they never disappoint. I love the name brand options, great shoes and housewares. My Mom and I went again and I spent over $ 100’s that should say a lot!!!

I like this store for housewares. Often I find that their art is unappealing, but the frames are well worth the cost and then you can always donate the «art» to SPCA.

Wrong & Irrelevant.
Prices are WAY too high — $ 9 for a perfume tray/​mirror? $ 150 for a desk? $ 15 for some used heels? The items aren’t unique or trendy, just seems like a random assortment of junk that’s neither modern nor vintage.
Not much in here either — small assortment of books, clothing and housewares — walking through just takes a few minutes.
Definitely won’t be back.

Cleanest thrift store that I’ve ever been in, that’s for sure.
As a guy, I’m quite disappointed in their selections for males. They have a bigger selection than the other places nearby, but nothing compared to the ones back in the Bay Area. With that said though, the selections for girls is actually pretty good.
Price wise, I would think that everything here is marked up a little higher than I would normally expect from a thrift shop, but out of all the things that I’ve looked that, I couldn’t find anything wrong with the clothes. Maybe they look through their entire inventory to check to see if there’s anything wrong, who knows.

I’m giving them three stars for having nice things and being spacious, clean and organized but docking a couple for being pretty pricey, more so than most of the thrift stores I’ve been in. Some stuff was nearly what it would be new. I think I would trust them to check out appliances and sell them in clean and working order but could do better otherwise elsewhere in clothes and knick-​knacks tho. But I’m glad I went in to satisfy my curiosity and I bought two items.

I’ve been consigning with this place for the past 15 years and it seems as time passes the women volunteers there become more angry and ugly spirited towards customers. I follow all their crazy rules, even though they change weekly, and do my absolute best to bring in only what they will sell that is in great condition.
Well, I just brought in a bag and had one volunteer tell me they wouldn’t accept a pair of Ann Taylor slacks because there was a wrinkle in the cuff. I told her I didn’t care if they ultimately used the pants to wipe their butts (because really, it’s All things Right & Relevant or a Goodwill donation), but I was fuming.
With all that help you’d think one of those bitchy old women would bust out an iron and just take care of it. OR sell as is cause I know when I shop second hand I’m not concerned about a crease in a pant cuff. Ugh. If I were the manager of that place I would require all volunteers to go through some basic Miss Manners training. I can’t do one visit without getting verbally assaulted by one of those ladies.

Sadly, nothing here was right and relevant.
I found absolutely nothing here … Yes, everything here is well-​priced, but I would not wear the clothes they have. Maybe I’d buy clothes here if it were for a «dress-​as-​weirdly-​as-​you-​can» party or something.
The only good thing about this place is that it’s for a good cause. I guess if I’m around the area, I wouldn’t mind checking it out. But I wouldn’t be surprised if I walk out empty handed. Oh yeah. I brought some stuff here to donate, but no one helped me? So I just put it in a pile of random stuff.

I can’t bring myself to pay full retail for clothes but am so glad that there are plenty of other women who do and then consign their purchase regrets to Right and Relevant. At least half my wardrobe comes from R&R and I’m not embarrassed to tell others when they compliment my clothing.
You never know what you will find but you are always guaranteed a great price. Plus you are also helping support many local social service non-​profits.
