Established in 2014.

The Castilian Dorms were well past their prime so we decided to tear them down and start all over.

8th and Wake was born in 2014, ready to serve the graduate students of UC Davis.

As a Resident of Davis for the past 10 years and a Property Manager for 5 of them, I’m very excited to be a part of this brand new community serving the graduate students of UC Davis! Whether your garbage disposal is jammed, your light is flickering, or you just want to know a great place to eat on a Friday night, I’m here to answer your questions and do all that I can to make your life easier as a Resident of 8th and Wake.

Here is the deal, 8th and Wake was a great option for me moving in from out of state. The furniture was free the year I moved in and that made moving across the country so much easier. It was all graduate students and it was a great community (I made some great friends from people I met in the hallways) and offered good amenities close to campus. I loved that they gave everyone a parking spot and that the apartments were so huge!
My problems are when it comes to the management (surprise surprise), the housing is designed for graduate students and is marketed as such but the company has very little respect for the financial situations that students are in. They are unforgiving and not cheap. I received $ 50 of my $ 200 deposit back and charged blanket fees for cleaning, painting and carpets (fee usually not charged for normal wear and tear). Although the maintenance man is great and keeps the place looking nice, the management is glacially slow in fixing problem such as a broken microwave, a broken stove or the constantly down printer.
