Business Owner

Matthew Sandomir is the owner and founder of Mercury Auto Transport. He has been in the shipping industry since 2001. He quickly learned the auto transport business and saw there was a need for a company with new ideas. Inspired, he started Mercury Auto Transport in 2007 with the philosophy to never take any deposits up front and to let every customer know how the vehicle shipping industry works so every customer would be empowered to make the best choice for their needs. With this philosophy Mercury Auto Transport has become one of the top national auto shipping companies in the industry with having over shipped 5,000 vehicles in just 2012. Matthew believes that Mercury must be a customer service oriented company and his aim is to please. If Mercury misses their aim they like to hear about it and encourage it. This has always been Matthew’s belief and has been one of the cornerstones of making Mercury great. Of course, he also loves to hear when his team has done a great job too!

Requested a quote and contacted repeatedly by Chase. He’s a fraudster and he lies – flat out. Needed a car shipped from SF to NY. Gave him his commission and completed online form. He repeatedly blamed the person who was to meet the driver for… not showing up, returning calls, etc. when there was not contact. The pick up day was always changing, driver changing, story changing. On a deadline and I pleaded for him to get it done, he again lied and said he had a driver when he didn’t. This whole industry is built on false promises. The web site he suggested I review,
is totally self serving and bogus. Try getting an a/​c and you’re accosted by shippers instead of posting a fair review. Stay away from Mercury and I’m suspicious of competitors too.

Awful experience with these guys. I dealt with Chase and he lied from the start. I needed to have my car by a certain time and he just lied lied lied and lied, ended up having to rearrange my travel plans multiple times and added so much stress to an already stressful move. Once my car was finally picked up (3 weeks after it was supposed to be) by Diaz Auto Carrier, more lies. Chase had told me it would take 3 – 5 days and of course it took 2 weeks. The guys at Diaz never answered the phone so I never knew when my car would arrive, or if it would at all until one day they showed up at my door without warning and of course I wasn’t home. Ultimately I got my car back and luckily it was fine. Wish I could recommend another shipper but seems like they’re all scammers.

This review is for the initial process: I have my cars scheduled for pickup and delivery, and I will provide an updated review after delivery is complete. Juan Carlos Bonitto with Mercury Auto Transport was the agent that we worked with. Our family had very flexible dates for both pickup and delivery, and from the moment after we requested the quote, he contacted me and pleasantly walked us through the process and the driver offers. I have had vehicles shipped in the past with other companies, and I am familiar with pushy/​unfriendly broker routines, but JC, as we called him, was extremely personable, very friendly, very informative, and not pushy in the least. I really felt like he did a great job of maintaining communication and filled us in on the options and prices that were being offered. He was very up front about costs — I felt like he wasn’t hiding anything or had a malicious agenda: he made sure we knew what was going on and I felt very comfortable and reassured throughout the process. He was easy to get in touch with and was expedient in his replies to my questions.
Again, once the cars are picked up and delivered, I will update my review regarding the rest of the process and the communication throughout delivery.

I used Mercury two years ago to ship my car to From Buffalo to New Orleans. Matt there was great. He knew only had three days to have it picked up because I had a flight in three days in New Orleans to start a new job at a hospital here. Anyway, He spent all time necessary to go over all possibilities of how we can handle making this work. Well, after 24 hours he had a carrier pickup my car and deliver in perfect condition. All for under 600 bucks. I was very pleased at the way I communicated with and the service both from Matt at Mercury and Jack from United. I was just looking them up tonight to to request a quote again because I’m moving back to NY and found them on Unilocal.Had to leave this review for them. They are great for me and I do recommend them. They even had kept in touch and notified me during the whole deal.

Chase with Mercury Auto Transport worked above and beyond to get my car shipped! I was dropped like a hot potato with Navy Auto transport who promised me to pick up my car (booked them a month in advance) to take from CA to OH. Day of pick up came and went, no pick up, no calls, emails, nothing (NAVY AUTO TRANSPORT SUCKS!!!). I got an email bid from Mercury, I talked to Chase and told him what happened and he went down the list of drivers personally and got me a driver that night! and within 4 days my car was picked up, dispatch stayed in constant communication and was easy to reach to get updates on my shipment. Car was delivered on time as promised. $ 750 for CA to OH, good deal. Thanks Chase!

For my cross country move I Chose Mercury Auto because they boosted that the car that is shipped through them will get to the destination on time and I do not need to go through the hassle of waiting for my car on the other side. Well that is exactly what happened!
After our initial verbal agreement, the representative at Mercury Auto sent me a contract to sign. As I read through the contract I noticed that the delivery date in the contract was quoted 5 days later than what I had ask for and agreed upon. So I called back and told the representative that I will not agree to this delivery date and only do business with them if the delivery date is what I had requested. The representative got back to me saying he will fix the problem and send me a contact with corrected dates which then I signed.
My car was picked up on the promised date promptly, however when I called on the supposed delivery date to the transporting company I was told the car is still not even in the state it is supposed to be delivered! … After days of back and forth calling with the transport company with promise of car delivery on certain dates and then going back on their words and postponing the delivery again and again and when I was asked for compensation for the delay that was now days past the date agreed upon on the contract, I was told that I should confront Mercury Auto since although they have given me a contact with delivery date of Nov.5th, the contract they had with the transport company was for the delivery date of Nov.9th (the original date that I had refused) !!! Of course at this point the representative from Mercury Auto was not answering his calls or responding to my messages.
The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is that eventually my emails to Mercury Auto were answered by their customer service representative and I received a partial refund. However, what they did is in no way acceptable and I am not sure if it is even legal!

Beware, stay far away from this company. If I could give no stars I would. I dealt with a representative by the name of Chase and he continued to give me false information. He assured me a delivery date between 10 – 13 days and I still have not received my car nor does he know where my car is. When I asked where my car was his response was I do not know. He continues to tell me he will find out but I have not received a phone call back. This is the worst customer service I have ever received or heard of anyone getting. I have used another company when moving to another state and it was excellent so I know quality which Mercury Auto Transport does not demonstrate. The driver name is Nichole so if you hear that name no mater what company you go with Beware! These divers do drive for other companies thats why I say beware if you hear her name. Chase was aware of my father doing a surgery and still there was no delivery of my vehicle I even asked it the car could be delivered in another state to be there for my dad surgery and they said no. However, they never kept their end of the agreement which I paid partial on the deliver and due to pay the remainer once receiving my car which I have not received. The driver «Nicole «will not and did not pick up the phone once when I called her she kept texting will call you later and never does. Again, this is not the company you want to deal with if you dont want your deal with stress and lies. I had to go to the police yesterday because it is possible my vehicle has been stolen. Its been over 16 days and no one knows where my car is :-(

Whew!!! Dodged a bullet here! I need to have one of my cars moverd from NY area to CA. Mercury contacted me via email and offered a «quote /​suggestion» of $ 990. This seemed low so I called for specifics. When I talked to «Jim» I gave him some options of pick up and drop off locations that we very big cities with high shipping traffic in order to bring the price down a bit. He offered $ 950. I asked a simple question: «Jim, if the destination and drop off is easier for the drivers shouldnt the rate be reduced by a bit more than $ 40?» «Jim «started the answer with «Hey Look»… I wasn’t sure of everything else he said beacuse the others in the background of the office were so loud and obnoxious it sounded like a fraternity party. Folks maybe I’m a bit crazy here but I’m not placing my Jaguar and my $$ in the hands of a company that makes contracts and deals by talking to customers in that manner. Mercury here’s some advice… Hey Look, I’d rather pay more than deal with a $mart A$$ over the phone and try to hear the info over the office party. Advice to others… they may do a great job despite the office crew. I’m just not willing to take that chance. Good luck.

I have to ship my car… NOOOOOOOOO!!! That is my first word out of my mouth when i realized i needed to do this. The reason you might ask? Just read all the horrible reviews on Unilocal,
, BBB and other sites about all of the terrible companies out there. I’m a Unilocaler, so, I can tell which reviews are real and fake, which ones just gave their opinions warranted or not.
Well, I can assure you, you no longer need to read anything, just call MERCURY AUTO TRANSPORT, ask for JC and thank me later! Tell him you read my review on Unilocal,PLEASE!
I needed to ship the car I bought from vegas here to Miami. JC and the guys at Mercury made this process SO easy. He gave me a reasonable quote (not to low, not to high) that caught my eye through the 20 other quotes i received in my email & on my phone. I called him and he explained the process thoroughly and made me feel comfortable. I didn’t need to pay him anything until he found me a driver to pick my car up. He hit my pick up date window and the price was only $ 25 more than originally quoted, which he let me know upfront that it was possibility. I didn’t mind, it was more important to get my car here than to pay an extra $ 25.
The carrier was cool, on time and no damage to my car.

I used Mercury last year when my car broke down in Pittsburgh. I needed it shipped back home in Cleveland Ohio. Me and the representative at Mercury agreed on a price of $ 250 and within a half hour they found me a driver to transport the vehicle.
In order to move the process along, I was required to pay the initial non refundable installment fee which goes directly to Mercury for their services. The driver who agreed to pick up the car never did. I called Mercury and after giving me the run around told me that it was not their problem that the driver did not fulfill his end of the agreement. When I asked for my deposit back, they said no, it is non refundable, but I can use it to look for another driver, so I agreed (what other options did I have).
After I payed the fee, they had all the leverage, the ball was in their court; I was no longer a commodity. Day after day, during lunch and after work, I would call Mercury to get an update, 50% of the time they did not answer, the other half they put me on hold that would take up my entire lunch hour and then tell me they would call me back, which they never did.
My confusion lied in the fact that it took them only 0.5hr to find the first driver before I payed the fee, and when I needed a second driver, after the fee was paid, they couldn’t find anyone. I could understand that to be true, but they never had the courtesy to call or update me. I was doing all the chasing and it was exhausting. Then they told me that I can increase my odds of finding another driver if I offered more money, which Mercury would receive a portion thereof. I then saw the type of business they were running there. I gave up after a week, and my brother came down with a rented dolly from Uhaul and towed it himself.

Just like several of the reviewers here, I was burnt by Mercury Auto Transport. I signed up with them a month before I needed to move across the country, and when the time came for me to ship my car, I couldn’t even get a hold of a representative. Four days before I moved, I was stuck having to pay ridiculous amounts of money to another company so that I could get my car picked up before I got on a plane.
Don’t do it. Go with another company, check out the BBB and other Unilocal reviews and go with the top companies listed there.

If I could give them a negative rating, I would. Jim is a stupid person of the highest order. If you even put an inquiry through to him, he will hound you with calls and emails. He is nothing but a total jerk. Full of lies and false promises. I decided to go with another transporter and he called me up and abused me.
He will tell you to ignore these reviews and look at other reviews. Disregard his statements, do yourself some good — stay away from him.

STAY AWAY FROM MERCURY AUTO TRANSPORT! I’ve shipped my car from California to Texas (and Texas to California) a total of 3 times now, all with different companies who unfortunately don’t drive this route anymore, and this was by far my worst experience. First off, they are extremely pushy and intrusive during the initial process. Don’t bother asking for a «free» quote unless you want countless emails and phone calls every day from Jim. Secondly, they delivered the car 4 days after their promised delivery date. This wasn’t as big of a deal for me since I don’t use this as my primary car, however, I could definitely see this as an issue for other people who are on a tight timeline. Lastly, and most importantly, once the car was finally delivered, I noticed that they had put over 65 miles on my car. There is absolutely NO need to be putting that many miles on a customer’s car during the transport process. Customers pay for a service that includes loading the car onto the truck, driving the truck to the predetermined location, and unloading the car from the truck. NO WHERE in between should the car be taken off the truck and driven 65 miles to god knows where. This is absolutely unprofessional and unheard of. Go with a more reputable broker who can provide quality drivers who won’t leave you wondering where your car has been in the 9 days it has taken them to drive from point A to point B.

The representative at Mercury was very quick and responsive — to take my Credit Card information. They promised pick up at one price, than raised the price. Nevertheless I agreed, as they stated Pick up promised for the next day. Well, a week later, still no pick up. And no response.

NO, just don’t bother with them. I learned the hard way about the transport industry. I was contacted by Mercury Auto Transport. They gave me the lowest quote out of the 50 plus call and emails I got. If you know anything about this industry, Drivers will pick up your vehicle based on how much you are willing to pay.
I worked with these guys and they said that my vehicle would be picked up within a certain time frame and it was never picked up. Communication was good between us, but they never followed through on the pick up date.
A flight had to be canceled, and good thing my mother had a place to stay, otherwise she would probably be sleeping in her car.
So please, avoid this company all together. Find someone with Unilocal reviews and pay the medium price range to get your vehicle transported.

Jim and I were just speaking on the phone about the quote that was sent to me, and I had a couple of questions about the date and deposit. He informed me that he couldn’t guarantee a date until he submitted my information to the people who drive, which I completely understood. But before we started to chat, one of his first questions to me was if I’ve ever done this before and I informed him that I have but not with this company.
So I ask, could the car be picked up on the 29th, he informed of the what I stated previously and then proceeded to tell me that I could pay extra for that exact date. No problem there, he’s just informing me of my options. But when I start to ask him about a different date, he reiterates exactly what he just said about the up charge for the 29th, and I say to him «I got that part, you don’t have to keep reiterating the same thing to me.» I try to tell him that I was asking about a different date but he was so busy talking over me that he wasn’t listening and then he says «I’m sorry but I can’t help you» and then hangs up in my face.
I couldn’t believe it, I’m so pissed and was extremely offended and yes I texted him some words because the way he behaved he was every bit of them. Before I sent the text, I tried calling the office to speak to a manager but the office was closed. I don’t fault the company but I do blame the individual who works as an agent there.

Great experience working with Jim Gozde. I’ve never transported a vehicle cross country before and Jim was very patient explaining everything to me — sometimes more than once. My tip to you: Don’t expect Jim to read your mind. if you have a concern just state it and he will give you an honest answer.

I tired to get my jeep shipped from Florida to California and they took about 2 weeks and a couple price jumps to then tell me that they can’t do it and only can refund part of my deposit because they sent someone out who couldn’t transport it.

My experience with Mercury Auto Transport was fraud and criminal. They took a deposit and refused to return the deposit. They did not follow up. On more than one occasion, we thought the car was being picked up and never heard from them. A little digging revealed information that I wish we would have found earlier. The owner was indicted and sentenced in another moving companies activities.
The person we dealt with, Rich, was rude, abusive, and hung up on both my wife and I multiple times. He threatened that if we backed out, we would make sure our car never got moved and that by working with him we were prohibited from working with any other companies.
