Lujack’s Northpark Auto Plaza

I’ve heard nothing but bad, but after getting a maintenance gift card from VW after the emissions debacle, this was the only place I could go to get a few things taken care of on my car. They seemed to be aware of the bad reputation and worked hard to «win» me as a new customer. They were friendly without being cloying and did everything as asked. They took up more time than I was hoping, but the order I had them do was fairly extensive. They didn’t upsell as much as they «reported» on what needed done next, and didn’t pressure at all about any of it. I’ll defer to the next service to see how that goes, but so far, it wasn’t bad.

I have tried to buy cars here on two separate occasions but regretted wasting my time both times. Once was for a new car, and the other for a used car. Both times were in the Volkswagen– Audi building. I love the cars, but the sales staff can’t be trusted in my opinion. On both occasions I caught them trying to screw me. I guess that’s why so many people call them screwjacks. They seem to have a high turn over in sales staff so the salesman doesn’t know much about the cars he’s selling, but don’t worry, if he doesn’t know he will make something up that sounds good. They do have one guy that has been there for a while and knows the cars well enough, but he has also become an expert at promising a purchase price plus «tax, title, and license», but then sneaks in a whole bunch of other misc charges that run the price way up and make the company money. I’m not the type that will just say «oh well» and pay it. I told him (Brad) that these extra charges were dishonest and not part of the deal we made. He did say he could remove them but would have to print a new purchase agreement. So other than a $ 149 doc fee, it would be correct. I told him that he had just lost my trust and to tear it up, and I got got the hell out of there! Needless to say, I will be staying away from them. I wanted to give them zero stars, but in order to be able to write a review Unilocal makes you give at least one star.

I got into a car accident the day I moved to Davenport. I’m not familiar with the area and regret my decision to use Lujack’s for the repair. There is a big gap on one side of the rear bumper. I pointed out this obvious flaw and was told that it would be fixed. I got my car back and noticed that the trunk didn’t open. I took it back to have this issue fixed only to find the next day that the bumper had the gap. I ended up taking the car back 4 times and the issue is still not resolved. Avoid this place for body work.

I’m only giving one star because there isn’t the option of no stars. This is the worst place ever to buy a car! I purchased a used Honda odyssey and within 2 days my ac compressor went bad. Of course, this wasn’t covered under warranty! A week later, my ac condenser went bad. I’ve had nothing but problems and everyone from the sales to the service department have been rude. They are all great at pointing fingers! Please, do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

Absolutely the worst service of any VW place I’ve been to. Friendly yes, but also lacking in many departments. Took my car in for service for 20k and 30k complimentary service. At 30k they told me they hadn’t done some of the work at 20k that they certified they had done. I filled out my post-​service survey explaining my displeasure and never received a call back. Additionally, this is the only VW place where they don’t wash and vacuum your car. I’m not sure why there isn’t across the board consistency from VW, but please drive the extra 60 minutes to Dixon or Iowa City for real service and save yourself the hassle of a job not-​so-​well done.

VW service is always served with a smile. Really pleasant group even when delivering costly repair news. They have always hit their completion targets or they share changes and updates efficiently.
I have had service in three different large markets and find their service pricing competitive if you want original VW parts. Some times slightly cheaper than other repair locations but not by much.
Quality cars need quality parts and expert service. You generally get what you pay for and this is not the exception.
