Leary’s Liquor Cabinet

I’ve been MUCH, MUCH happier with Leary’s than the «place down the street» that one reviewer referred to. In fact, it’s not even close how much differently I have been treated by the two establishments.
I would say that, to me, Leary’s is strictly a place I go to buy wine (I think that’s what they want to cater to mostly anyway) and I’ve been impressed with their selection, knowledge, and pricing. They have some decent beer to choose from if you are in a pinch, and same with the hard liquor, but I’d recommend them for wine.

Helpful and friendly staff.
Perfect place to pick up a sixer and a shot after work, a tall boy for the train into the city, or a finer bottle on the way to a dinner party or birthday.
They do parties and deliver kegs.

With other options so close by, I would never put up with the poor treatment I received here again. I asked for a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau (it’s July, and yes I know its released in November) and was told I was basically out of my mind to think it was available after autumn by all the staff (and a customer felt free to chime in as well.) It’s cool not to carry something, to be out of stock but to treat me like crap for asking was just not necessary. Ironically my husband found a bottle at Seven Seas in Stamford the next day — so much for it being preposterous to get it in July.
Anyway, its a small, dark place that seems to only appreciate their long-​term customers. If you are reading reviews that is probably not you — so don’t go in, you will not be welcome and god forbid you are a woman. If you are a pretentious jerk you might love it.
The place right down the road in the same strip of Noroton Heights shopping is very friendly and a nice environment — cheaper too.

Go here for wine. Good selection, great price. Expanding soon — will finally have a decent beer selection to compliment their wines. Busy location, can be tough to get in and out fast.
