Goodies Ice Cream is the only 50s Style Ice Cream Parlor on the North Shore. It’s a place where you can come year round and really enjoy the atmosphere of the 50’s. We specialize in not only delicious Ice Cream by the cone, but Sundaes, Floats, Frappes of any flavor, Freezes, Ice Cream Sodas, Malts, and Mix-​Ins. We have a food menu which features, Chicken Tenders, Burgers, ¼ LB Hot Dogs, Waffle Fries, Curly Fries, Toasted Raviolis, Mozzarella Sticks and Fried Dough. Need something hot, we have a full coffee bar serving Cappuccions, Lattes, Chai Tea and Hot Chocolate. Goodies can host your next celebration at the shop or Goodies can come to you with full service ice cream catering. We also offer ice cream cakes and gourmet ice cream pies all made on the premises. Gift certificates are available year round for that special thought. Kids love the Candy Shelf, Hot Fresh Popcorn and warm chocolate chip cookies! There’s something for everyone in the family whatever the season.

History

Established in 2003.

We want to welcome you to come and visit us at our downtown Danvers location, where you will enter a time when Elvis was King, Uncle Milti ruled the airwaves, sock hops were the place to be seen and the American family sat down to weekly Sunday dinners (always with a little room left for dessert, like ice cream!)

This place is amazing! I love the retro feel of this gem everything is also extremely cheap.
We came here one night after going apple picking at Connors farm and grabbing dinner at the Thai place across the street
Goodies also has some crazy candy lies. The cashew turtle pie looked unreal. One of. Y favorite things about them is they sell candy a la carte around the store. I would have loved this place as a child!
We got a chocolate peanut butter cup milkshake and even though it was 30 degrees outside, we felt like we could drink endless amounts of it
There are also a ton of crazy cookies by he register. Chocolate chip topped w/​mounds of fudge, m&m’s, peanut butter, and the list goes on!

Goodies is a blast from the past ice cream shoppe. Full of 50s and 60s memorabilia, Goodies checkered floor, ice cream bar seating, and classic pink and white corner booth add to the classic atmosphere.
The ice cream is great. It is not made by the shop itself, but shipped in from Richardson’s Ice Cream in Middleton, MA. They do however, make their own combinations of the ice cream My favorite combo? Pumpkin Oreo. Delicious. The portions are enormous and the hot fudge is extra rich and gooey.
If you are looking to bring an icecream pie to a Thanksgiving event, this is the place to get it!
The staff is friendly, but for a unique place like this, I expect over-​the-​top happy.

Went here tonight; got a banana frappé. Sprung for the extra-​thick option. It came out as thin as a milkshake. Not particularly blown away by that.
I guess the atmosphere is fun for the kids, but if you can’t make a decent frappé in New England, I’ll find somewhere else.

My husband and I love this place. Great service, great atmosphere, great ice-​cream! Everyone that works there always has a smile on their face which is nice to walk in to. Our favorite is the peanut butter swirl frappé, thick! There’s nothing like it!

Every time we go in here its great! The atmosphere is awesome and the icecream is even better!!! Stephanie always takes care of us! We are military and try to make this our lunch spot at least once a week and with service and food like this, we will continue to do so!!!

I’m a big fan of Goodies! I typically order a small mint chocolate chip in a dish or something peanut buttery if my allergic child isn’t with me. The quality of the ice cream is quite good and the staff is very friendly and professional.
Goodies is always decorated according to the season and can be a little slice of summer no matter what time of year it is outside.

This place is a hop, skip and a jump from my Mom’s house. A++++ for the fact that they are NOT seasonal. Some of us like eating ice cream in the winter you know!
Delicious ice cream and a really great selection of frozen yogurts! The last time I checked I remember they also had some of their ice cream from Richardsons… which I liked.

What a local treasure to come home to! The best part about coming back to my home town is seeing that everthing has remained the same to a certain degree. Goodies is just another reason to come back for a visit! My friend and I were out for a walk and as we came up for our finish line dessert we gasped when we saw the lights shut off. the owner, John must have seen our look of disappointment because he opened the door and said «come on in» We were delighted!!! Not only does the shop offer delishish treats, it also has the personable service that makes every visit a pleasure! I would recommend this jewel to anyone!

I’m gonna pro and con this sweet stop:
Pros: Great decour and a fun place to nosh on some ice cream while feeling like you’re in a super cool 50s parlor
Good (but not amazing) ice cream. I enjoy Moose Tracks :)

Because of their location in Danvers Square, they can sometimes get very crowded and other times, they attract tons of 13– year old– wannabe homies

The ice cream here is mushy. For example, the mint oreo tastes, well, stale. The oreo in the ice cream has the same consistency of the mushy ice cream. Yuck!
For five-​star ice cream — take your business to Cherry Farm. It is simply superb! Love it there!

Another one down in my pursuit of reviewing all the ice cream places on the North Shore.
The ice cream really was not that great. I had the Kahlua Brownie Fudge in a waffle cone. The texture of the cream was tooo much like plastic.
The memoribilia over the walls was worth the stop. So many interesting artifacts covering the walls from old record albums of Disney shows to parts of buildings long since gone from the town of Danvers.
I would like to say this place had what it needs to draw me back. But I would rather drive a longer distance for my ice cream next time.

Ice Cream anyone?
I haven’t had anything else on the menu board except ice cream at Goodies so I can’t comment about their other products. An ice cream place is a good substitue for a fire hydrant hose off.
If you’re price-​conscious, Richardson’s Ice Cream on Route 114 in Middleton is cheaper. A baby-​sized cup at Richardson’s costs approximately $ 2.20. A small cup (same size as Richardson’s) at Goodies is $ 2.90. Goodies is a cozy place with two tables so if you don’t like crowds, go between 9pm and 10pm. The place looks clean, well-​lit and exudes a 50’s theme. Uniformed staff are professional and friendly.
An employee told me that Goodies get their ice cream from Puritan Ice Cream on Washington Street in Roslindale, MA. Puritan Ice Cream, established in 1908, makes old fashioned Premium Ice Cream.
Goodies has my thumbs up for a definite stop after dinner and a movie. Nothing better than eating your favorite flavored ice cream on a hot, sultry summer day.
Verdict: Don’t overthink this one. Just go and enjoy yourself!

I am so happy that this ice cream place is in Danvers square. I am almost ashamed to say that when my husband goes in there, they don’t even have to ask what I am having. I think that there is something in the Fat Free Chocolate Almond which makes me have to have one almost daily. The décor is so cool. It is decorated in 50’s style. There are tables and booths inside, but music is pumped outside where they also have seating. It can be really crazy in early summer after kids’ baseball/​softball games or after school open houses, plays, etc., but the staff is friendly and quick.
