New to the area and needed a trim and refresh on my highlights in September 2014. Haven’t returned due to the fact that the girl that did my hair said she was graduating that week and said she had never done highlights on long hair before and needed step-​by-​step instructions from her teacher; she also needed assistance cutting a side bang because she had never done it before. I had to go to another place to have my hair evened out because the front was longer than the back and the side bang was blunt and choppy. My hair is naturally dirty blonde and the highlights were uneven tones ranging from bright orangey yellow to white blonde. I told the girl that my hair takes to bleach very quickly and color lifts fast. I don’t know what volumizer she used but it took almost 45 minutes for the color to lift when it usually takes 20. Also, some pieces were a good 1 – 1.5″ from my scalp.

Went here about 2 weeks ago. Pricing can not be beat! I am trying to grow my hair out so paying $ 30+ for someone to trim ½ inch of my hair is just outrageous … $ 12-​$ 15 for a cut here! Went right at 10 when they opened, I didn’t get any color or anything else done besides the cut & blowout, took like an hour and fifteen minutes. For the price I wouldn’t have even been mad if it took 2 hours honestly. My girl was super nice and friendly and we chatted the whole time. I guess some people don’t like that but I hate sitting there in awkward silence when someone is like 6 inches from my face. Definitely will go back for another cut and other services (they offer manicures, makeup, updos, hair treatments, etc!)

$ 30 for an updo that looked pretty dam good is pretty dam good! But I have to admit that the makeup was terrible. The person I had was a hair and makeup person and she did a terrible job with the makeup despite me guiding her. I got home and ended up taking it all off with makeup remover and doing it myself… should have done that in the first place!
BUT I will definitely be back and I will definitely go to get a hair cut there in the future!

Went back for color and it was a fiasco of epic proportions.
Bad color, horrible service (I had to re-​book three times due to students not showing up. I should have gotten an A-​plus for showing all three times!), and an old man who needs to retire, bossing students around who know more than he does. (Paul…)
Will never go back and have seek someone else to un-f**k my color now.
Professional salons only for this girl!
Not worth trying to save a few bucks. I the long run, the whole disaster will cost more to fix. Not worth it. Not worth it. Not worth it!

Polite respectful service. Outcome may not be exactly what you wanted (color not quite right, cut a little off) but you will look like it was professionally done and they will fix it if not what you wanted (in the case of color for additional product fee). Exceptionally reasonable charge for service in an absolutely beautiful setting. Well worth the possible gamble. Because, get real, its just hair and it will grow back. Take a chance and be pampered. Who knows, you may prefer the «mistake». Have taken Girl Scout troop for braiding, daughter and sons for haircuts and used for coloring for years. Highly recommend them.

I’ve had my hair styled here, dyed, high lighted, cut, the whole works and always been happy. The students are nice, tad chatty at times, but that comes with the territory. The teachers are very accommodating, and you can see how the actually teach by experience instead of just being told what to do. I always enjoy going here.
Why not 5 stars you may say, because if you go on a Saturday morning, be prepared to spend all day in the chair. ALL DAY. 5 hour hair cut, I was soooo hungry by the end. But I don’t think I’ve ever had a better hair cut, because the girl was so precise, and meticulous and kept calling her teacher over for every section. I have paid lots of $$$$ for haircuts in Ridgefield and walked out disappointed.
Also who doesn’t what to see the learning process? It’s how our world grows!

For the price you pay and what you get in return… this is a no brainer. You have the choice when booking to either choose a phase1 or phase2 service. Phase 1 would be someone still at the beginning of their training (which would be a few dollars cheaper) and Phase 2 would be someone at the end of their training, ready to graduate.
Cut & Style is $ 12-​$ 17, Basic Color starts at $ 25-​$ 30, Up Style $ 20-​$ 25, Makeup application $ 15-​$ 20.
Their new address is: 2 National Pl., Danbury CT and NOT the South Street address (they are no longer at that location).
Just be warned, the service is going to take longer than it normally would, because this is a training school… the student will be calling their teacher over every so often to check up on their work.
Place can get pretty busy, even in the morning!

I stopped going to Adam Broderick in Ridgefield years ago cause of this place. and my mens haircut dropped from $ 60 to either $ 12 or $ 17, depending on the stylist. Just as good, if not better. The teachers go over every cut and tweak. My wife swears by the coloring services, too.

I started going here after going to the Paul Mitchell in Costa Mesa, CA when I was on vacation. I loved the personalized services and the friendliness of the students.
I would definitely recommend asking for a Phase II student. These are students in the 2nd half of the program and they are more experienced and generally more confident about what they’re doing.
Their services are about half of the price of a regular salon. Highlights start at about $ 40 and color is $ 8 per process. This is for Phase II students– Phase I services are about half as expensive.
There is, however, a trade-​off for inexpensive services. You have to remember that this is a school, not a salon. Whatever services you get done have to be checked by instructors each step of the way. For example, after you sit down and discuss what you’d like done, the instructor will come over and make sure that you and your student are on the same page. If you’re getting color, the student will mix it and bring it back to the station where the teacher will come back and advise if needed. After the color is washed the teacher will come check in again, and so on. Be prepared to spend 3 to 5 hours in the chair if you’re having multiple processes done. It sounds like a lot of time but it’s completely worth it. You can get a cut and color with hi and lowlights for around $ 80 from a phase II student. I’ve paid $ 150 – 200 for this at salons with less than stellar results.
Overall, I’ve had some really great experiences, and some that made me consider not going back. Now that I’ve been to other salon schools (Sono and Brio) I know Paul Mitchell is the best out of all of them. It just depends on the student and how well they listen to you. Just be very clear with what you want. I would highly recommend bringing pictures of both the color and cut you want.
