This is the best Sushi place!!! The fish is so fresh — can beat pretty much anywhere in the US. Not only in the area but also better than NYC and almost every other Sushi place we’ve been too. I’m a big Sushi fan and I love sashimi and all kinds of raw fish. I’m also a very picky eater so I care a lot about the quality of the fish. The price isn’t cheap — so if you are looking to fill your stomach or you are not into real fresh high quality Sushi, then there are probably other places you’ll enjoy more(because of price). However, I come here very often and order sashimi and rolls and everything is so worth the price. One tip, if you are not a big salt eater, I would suggest order the sauce on the side for rolls. Their rolls are fantastic without the sauce but the the amount of eel sauce they put makes the rolls so salty and covers the real taste of the fresh ingredients. The service is good enough for a Chinese owned restaurant. Many of their waiters are young adults and aren’t very Americanized. That’s probably what’s causing some misunderstanding in the other reviews about services. Trust me, their fish makes everything worth the while!

Was really looking forward to eating here, the reviews look good. We got in a few minutes after they opened. The place looks clean and nicely decorated. The prices are steep; $ 6 for an avocado roll… The waiters were either having a really bad day or their services were just rude. We never got to order even though they had some really appealing options. We just couldn’t justify paying so much with such bad attitude…

Stopped by this evening with a co-worker while on a business trip and had a good experience. Small, yet inviting restaurant with a great feel. They kept it pretty cold there tonight. We shared 4 different sushi rolls(Ki Asian roll, Dynamite roll, can’t recall the names of the other 2) and topped off our meals each with tempura ice cream. The rolls were very well plated and had great flavor. Would be more than happy to stop by again if ever back in the area!

Ugh, these people definitely rubbed me the wrong way. First — their prices are a bit outrageous. I’m not from the area, so maybe that’s typical, but gees, soooo much higher for just about everything, than I’m used to paying in NYC. However, we didn’t get to taste any of their food so this review is for service only! They apparently accept kids because they have a high chair. We came in shortly after opening with two little kids. Sat down and proceeded to attempt to order food. First question to them was — is your tea free? The waitress scoffed and said«of course»… Brought the tea. Then another waiter came over to take the order. Considering we had two kids, I asked if they had an a la carte menu of cooked fish or a kids’ menu. The answer to both was«no». I said, so I would have to order a 4-year-old a $ 25 entrée that he won’t finish? No answer. I asked — can you do anything that’s small? Sushi is small. OK, can you cook it? I don’t want him to eat raw fish. No. My next question — well, considering we’re here with two kids — is there anything you can offer us that isn’t a $ 25 entrée? No. Do you even care if we stay or go? No. OK, bye. (that was easy)

The sushi is always melt in your mouth good. But be cautious of ordering cocktails, prices are a bit high for the area. $ 9.50 for a basic Stoli and soda. An unwelcome surprise when we got the bill.

Everything was okay. The guy behind the sushi counter was fine and the same for the male server, but our waitress was not very friendly at all. The Thai spicy sour soup was good… a very fair portion for the price. But, it was disappointing not to get it when others had their Miso soup. We made it clear that we wanted a soup course to start. The specialty Omakase for $ 38 was great, but the sushi from the regular menu was definitely nowhere near the same quality… but still edible.(Just nothing fantastic.)

Awesome Sushi! Came all the way from Southbury for takeout. Tuna was red and fresh. Can’t beat this place. Customer service was great.

I’m upping this a star because I think its some of the most consistently good sushi places in the area. I have been ordering the Omakase lately and the pieces have always been excellent. This dish usually includes an oyster which are always fresh and tasty. The individual pieces aren’t huge but in my opinion that is the correct way to make sushi and the quality more than makes up for it. Service is fast and friendly. I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated. Highly recommended.

Always great sushi, fresh and the service is excellent. The best boy place in Danbury my wife and I will get sushi from. My 3yr old daughter also loves it!

This place is awesome! Super clean very nice ambiance for dining in. Did take out twice and is was ready super fast. Teriyaki chicken was great. Not to slaty and it was two whole filets cut thinly and sliced. Had sushi the other time. Spicy girl roll was so fresh! This is a must if you are in the area. It’s situated in the parking lot of the Marriott Courtyard so you can just walk right over!

Never had a bad experience here. Love the nabeyaki udon soup, the shrimp tempura side is great and fresh. Their broth tastes homemade, mmmmm. Sushi us good, not the best in the area but worth eating. Staff is friendly and will remember regulars.

Had my second meal there with my Japanese father. Being half Japanese and an avid fisherman and a foodie have high standards. However I am to snob and will eat grocery store sushi in a pinch if it’s decent quality. Solid four stars because for the area it far above the standard and is oasis in danbury desert of good Sushi. Edo II is also good. So we had lunch there my dad was reluctant to go there as a few years ago when he was looking to move up here he had a bad meal here. I pushed him to give it a second try. He shared a seared toro asparagus appetizer with a truffle soy sauce. We both liked it. The tuna was more Chu toro than toro but but good. One piece was a little over seared but over all good quality(not world class but very good, remember I am a fisherman and I catch my own bluefin). Asparagus was perfectly cooked. sauce was very nice. Owner is also the head sushi chef and cares about business.

Revised: January 16th, 2016: Oh, I am so very saddened and disappointed to provide the following review. I previously had a very positive review here for this restaurant, but after my most recent visit, I can only say that things have taken a terrible turn. I have had lunch on several occasions here in the past and enjoyed the Omakase. This weekend, I decided to bring the whole family for dinner. Let me summarize — my wife ordered the Pad Thai. There was something not quite right with it. Buried in sauce, it wasn’t obviously«off» by way of odor or taste(though the taste was marginal) but the texture was bizarre and she ate it reluctantly. I had one bite, noted the same issue, and didn’t touch it again. To cut to the chase, fast onset food poisoning ensued. The chicken in the pad Thai was contaminated with something — likely Staphylococcal enteritis based on the onset timing and symptoms. I was hit a little, as I only had a bite. She was down all night and the entire next day, as she ate the majority of the dish. It’s not fair to spend over $ 100 on dinner and end up with a mom of two young kids vomiting all night(and worse) from food poisoning. Thankfully, the kids didn’t try the Pad Thai, and were unaffected. Meanwhile, and not that it matters: I ordered the oshinko appetizer, which consists of the typical three types of Japanese pickles. I always order this when I go out for Japanese food. One of the three — the takuan, or pickled daikon, was off. I didn’t eat it. The Omakase I ordered($ 38) was ok, but far from stellar and weak compared to past experiences here. I ate the entire thing in about three minutes, while trying to pace myself. It was less than half the quantity, half the assortment, and not as high quality of past Omakase here. Did I mention $ 38? What has happened to this place? The sin of serving bad meat and causing food poisoning in inexcusable. Meanwhile, the overall quality of the restaurant, which was so positive on previous visits, has cratered. I’ve provided two stars, simply because one-star reviews tend to be deemed unreliable and often are ignored. But this clearly is a major deal breaker. Never again. Photos: the appended photos are from previous visits, two years ago. I did not take photos this time, but I assure you, they would not even seem to be from the same restaurant. The old photos show a lovely app and Omakase. If I had photographed the Omakase from this recent visit, it would look like a comparative joke.

Our multiple experiences at Ki have been hit or miss. One of many examples is the pad Thai, which within the last month has ranged from excellent to barely above greasy spoon quality. Consistency is obviously a problem. And as the prices here have steadily crept higher here, I’m finding it harder and harder to justify the gamble. First, Ki is definitely a place to eat in. The carry out simply lacks the care and presentation that justify the prices. Ambience is nice and tasteful and it’s always warm and cozy. Sushi is usually very good but not spectacular. At least it’s fairly consistent. One word of advice — avoid the vegetable tofu teriyaki at all costs. It’s quite literally $ 2 worth of onions and broccoli masquerading as a $ 14 entrée — a total embarrassment. I chalk all the good reviews up to the fact that there is very little good Asian food in the Danbury area.

Came here for lunch because of good reviews and because it is walking distance from our hotel. The restaurant is clearly owned by chinese, as evidenced by the signs on the door and Chinese music. While this fact strengthened my skepticism, I tried to keep an open mind. The salad that came before the entrée was full of ginger salad dressing, which made it overly salty and sweet. I literally poured my water into the bowl to wash the leaves so they became edible. We ordered the sushi omakase for two($ 60). There were 8 pairs of sushi nigiri plus oysters. The uni that’s shown on most of the pictures was no where in sight. After inquiring the waitress asked the chefs and they gave the unis as well. Presentation really wasn’t impressive and while fishes tasted fairly fresh, the flavor isn’t as robust as I would have liked. For $ 60 I had wished for a bit more flair or enjoyment. Mostly what I got was just surprise how overpriced the whole thing was. I’m sure the rolls are as good as people say. But if you want to compare the quality of the sashimi to top establishments in manhattan… I’d still say«no competition» I guess this is as much as you could expect from an Americanized Chinese-Asian-sushi joint.

Sat at the bar area with my friend during lunch. Very friendly staff! The two men making the sushi were FANTASTIC! Very friendly, good recommendations, and the sushi is hands down one of the best in the area. I had the Ki Asian roll with yellowtail, crab, avocado, caviar, and gold leaf. So good! Beautiful presentation! My friend has the passion roll, which had mango, spicy scallop, and pepper crusted salmon and avocado on top. I have not had many rolls with mango in it that I like, but the combination was amazing! The other thing that was a nice touch is the white wine came in chilled wine glasses. Simple, but a very nice touch! If you come here you will not be disappointed!

Every aspect of an excellent joint is covered when you walk into Ki. The host is pleasant and just the right level of attentiveness. The atmosphere is excellent. When you walk in you forget you are in a strip mall place. The sushi chefs are top shelf. Fast and creative these guys are on the ball. The service staff are all very good they are very professional and dedicated to their tasks. They have a decent menu and a great list of appetizers. Primarily a sushi place this one is above the norm importing lots of whole fish from Japan and butchering them on site. I had the KI roll and the TNT lover roll both of which are unique to this place and I highly recommend.

Variety of everything on the menu, friendly staff, and delicious sushi! I had the Ki Asian Special Roll with Tuna, yellowtail, salmon, spicy king crab crunch topped with avocado, black tobiko, and gold flakes… omg amazing! Finished with the Tempura Red Bean Ice Cream and also phenomenal with little blue sprinkles on pink colored ice cream, cute. Full liquor bar too. I’ll definitely return soon!

Excellent sushi and roll selections with amazingly fatty cuts of salmon and tuna, the plates where beautiful and the staff was very attentive. I will definitely return and bring friends. Salmon avocado rolls are not on their lunch menu but they let us order them anyway, and the gold leaf on top of the Ki Asian roll is a definite conversation piece. I would recommend it to anyone, it’s not spicy at all but the flavors are all there. Having lunch there is a joy since the prices are lower than dinner and the portions are decent, even if the price is abit high you are getting some of the finest sushi in Connecticut. The 30 $ omakase is a few select pieces, but everyone pretty much gets the same assortment — if you want real omakase feel free to sit at the bar and chat with chef Benny. He will take good care of you. Very impressed overall, and I’ve been to dozens of sushi bars on both coasts. I will attach and update pictures of their specials as I go every Thursday.
